Chapter seven

Isabelle's Point of View

I sighed as I sat on the couch, the house completly silent as the boys tried falling asleep. My laptop was on and like yesterday, Calum was tossing and turning. The only difference was Luke was sitting up, staring at his hands.

His back pressed against he headboard as his knees were pulled up to his chest. His arms wrapped around his knees as he played with his fingers. First is was Calum, and now it's Luke. I sighed and stood up, walking towards the kitchen to get a glass of water.

I made as little noise as possible, not wanting to disturb the other two boys who were asleep. I heard the stairs creaking and I turned the faucet off, and walked. Calum walked by and into the kitchen, ignoring me.

"No sleep again?" I asked and turned around, placing the glass next to my lips. He sighed and nodded as I drank my water. "You know, coffee and make-up won't keep the boys and fans unaware of this for long. You need to sleep, Calum."

"You don't think I'm trying?" he snapped and I rose an eyebrow. "I'm sorry, it's just, I'm tired and even more on the edge after what happened earlier today."

"Talking about it helps. Wanna try it out?" I asked and he looked at and me and chuckled.

"You wouldn't care." he said, taking a drink of his own glass of water. "And besides, it's not a major problem. I can take small naps in the car or at noon."

"Naps won't help, trust me." I said. "And if I didn't care, I wouldn't have suggested it. Now if you don't wanna talk about it, that's fine. If you want to, we can."

He stood there, the water in his cup, swishing in a circular motion. His lip between his teeth as he thought about I said. "Sure we can, I guess." he said, and I nodded.

"Follow me," I walked him over to the couch, ignoring my laptop cause I'm sure he wouldn't look. "Now, the reason why you can't sleep," I said, as he sat on the couch, facing me.

"I'm scared." he said in a tone that made me believe him. "We're in danger, I know that, which means any time someone can come and take us, kill us. And I just, what if they come in my sleep? It's a bit childish, but yeah, I'm just scared." he said.

"It isn't stupid." I said, ignoring the fact I feel like a therapist or a close friend of his. "It's fine, other people I've protected have felt that way. It's normal, but you're gonna have to sleep. You can't do concerts, meet and greets, interviews, and so on while you're tired. It's hard, to get sleep in situations like this, but you're gonna have to."

"I know," he sighed. "I'm just not exactly comfortable with you yet. Like, you've been here a few days, and I can't trust somebody that fast, especially with my life."

I sighed and looked at him in the eyes. "I understand, okay? You can't, but you have to at least trust me a bit after today. I wouldn't let anybody hurt you guys, but today was an accident that I'll apologize in the morning for. But, you're safe with me. Nobody is gonna kill you while I'm here, let alone hurt you."

"I do, a bit." he said and I nodded. "But it's my life, and you can't just like, I don't know how to put it." he said, struggling with his words.

"You can't just put it in the hands of anyone?" I asked him, wondering if that's what he was trying to say. He nodded and I sighed. "It is hard, but you're gonna have to trust me."

"I know," he sighed again.

"I hope this helps but, that bodyguard you told me about," I started and he nodded. "He won't be bothering you, anymore." I said and he nodded.

"What? Why? What happened?" He asked and I waved a hand, telling him not to worry about it. He nodded and we sat in silence, it wasn't awkward, surprisingly.

"You know," he piped up after a few minutes. "You become so deep and friend-like at night and in the morning you're all irritated and tough with us. Why is that?"

The question caught me off guard. I didn't know how to answer that because I didn't even know myself. It just happens, I guess. I didn't even think he would notice, let alone care about my change in attitude. I stood up and clamped my hands shut. "Well, you should get off to bed. I'm sure you're tired, the bags under your eyes are proving my point."

"But you didn't answer my-"

"Go back to your room and try to sleep," I said, in a demanding tone. "Please," I added in a softer tone in the end. Damn it, there I go again. I'm just a huge softie at night, it's strange. I'm not a softie, I'm not supposed to not care. Yet I do.

"We'll talk about this one day, Bella." I tensed up at the nickname, flashbacks flashing through my head. "You can't avoid this question forever." Calum said, as he stood up. "Night,"

I heard him walk up the stairs and then his bedroom door shut. I fell back on the couch and sighed, putting my hands in my hair. I heard a sniffle and I looked up confused, who's crying? I looked at my laptop and Luke was still sitting up. I stood back up and walked up to the blonde boy's room.

I knocked on his door a bit and then opened it. He looked up and even though the room was dark, I could tell he knew who it was. "What are-What are you doing here?"

"Seeing why one of my boys are still up," I responded. "And crying," I added.

"Your boys?" he asked me and I nodded. He brushed it off and asked me a question, "Anyways, shouldn't you be-shouldn't you be asleep?"

"I don't sleep much," I answered truthfully. "Why are you up is the question?" I asked him, my arms crossed over my chest.

"It's nothing," he said in a croaky voice. "Just worried, scared, and nervous." he told me and I nodded.

"This is only temporary." I told him and he nodded. "Soon enough, you'll be back on that stage without a worry or care in the world again. But for right now, sleep is important. You need it."

"But I can't," he said and I sighed. "It's hard, especially after today."

"I'm gonna tell you what I've told my other clients before," I said. "You don't need to worry at night. I'm always up and watching for anything suspicious. If something is wrong, I will wake you up and give you instructions. But there isn't anything wrong now, so you should get some sleep."

"I can try," he said and sniffled. "But I can't promise you anything." he said and I nodded.

"Listen Luke," I said. "There's probably more to the story besides you're scared and worried, and I'm not gonna push it, but please try to sleep. You need it. If anything comes up, I need you all awake and ready to do anything."

"Fine," he said and I could see him wipe his eyes with the back of his hand. "Night,"

"Good night Luke," I said and closed his door.

Now I have two boys so scared they can't sleep and it's only been a few days. How amazing is everything so far?

This was probably very horrible, I apologize.
