6. Stay out of our lives

Tristen was actually pretty good at the hockey game we were playing.

"How'd you get so good?" I asked him.

"Uncle Wicky, and Kuza." He replied. Now Kuza I could see, but Ricky? I know he ain't that good at Xbox. A few more games later I decided that it was probably time for Tristen to go to bed otherwise Nikki might kill me.

"Alright little man, it's bedtime." I stated after he beat me one last time.

"But daddy I'm not tired." He whined.

"You may not be tired at the moment, but once I turn everything off, and you lay down you will be." I said. I took the controllers and put them back by the tv, then I grabbed him some batman pajamas.

"Here ya go." I said handing him the pajama set. I turned back around for a second to close the drawer, and when I turned around I saw Tristen had the pants on his head, and the shirt part was on his legs.

"Daddy this doesn't feel right." He said, and I couldn't help but laugh.

"That's cause that's not the right way to wear it." I said. "Here I'll help." I said walking up to him. We fixed his pajamas, and I got him into bed.

"Daddy could you put a movie on?" He asked me. I thought about it for a moment.

"Okay but I'm gonna put a timer on the tv okay?" I said he nodded his head.

"Alright what do you wanna watch?" I asked.

"Disney!" He shouted.

"Okay okay." I said putting my hands up I searched Netflix for Disney movies he picked out Hercules, and I put it on for him.

"Thanks Daddy." He said snuggling into his pillow.

"You're welcome love you buddy." I said walking out, and shutting the door. I decided that I should go and check on Nikki, but when I got downstairs she wasn't laying down on the couch anymore she wasn't there at all. I checked the kitchen remembering that she didn't eat anything earlier, but she still wasn't there. I walked back upstairs maybe she went in our room, and I just don't remember seeing her.

I walked back up the stairs past Tristen's room, and straight to our room. I opened the door, and saw Nikki laying down on the bed. I quietly walked in, and shut the door.

"Do you know how late it is?" She questioned.

"No." I replied I really didn't know what time it was.

"Chris it's 1 AM! It's way too late for Tristen to be up!" She half yelled half whispered. I sighed.

"Babe we started playing the Xbox, and I just lost track of time, but I put him to bed don't worry." I said walking over to her side of the bed, and crouched down so I could kiss her forehead. I noticed that she was really warm, so I put my hand up to examine further I frowned.

"You're really warm babe." I stated. She shrugged, and pulled the blankets up to her chin.

"How do you feel?" I asked her.

"Chris I feel fine honestly, it's probably nothing anyways, I just want to go to sleep." She said. I sighed and nodded my head.

"Okay love you." I said.

"Yeah love you too!" She replied rolling over. I shook my head and got in the bed with her. I tried to wrap her in my arms, but she just pulled away from me. I sighed, and turned around facing away from her. God I really hope this isn't PMS! I quickly fell asleep.

When I woke up I noticed that Nikki was still asleep I looked at the time, and noticed it was only ten thirty. I got up, and went to  check on Tristen only to find his room empty. I went downstairs, and heard noises coming from the kitchen. When I walked inside I saw Tristen trying his hardest to get a box of cereal from the counter. You could tell he was getting mad.

"Hey!" I said walking up behind him. He just kept reaching for the box.

"Want me to help?" I asked. He huffed, and nodded his head. I grabbed the box, and handed it to him. He got the milk from the fridge, and I grabbed him a bowl with a spoon and sat it down in front of him. He was having trouble getting the box open. Finally he had enough, and started throwing a fit.

"Hey what's wrong?" I asked him.

"I can't do anything." He said. I chuckled.

"Well you are only three buddy there's not much you can really do yet." I said watching as he tried grabbing the milk.

"How about I pour the milk, and you can pour the cereal?" I asked knowing the outcome of him pouring the milk wouldn't end well. He nodded his head and grabbed the box. I let him pour the cereal then I poured the milk. When he sat down I noticed Nikki hadn't come down yet. Usually she's up way before me.

"I'm gonna go check on mommy." I said standing up ruffling his hair, and going upstairs. I walked in, and saw she was still wrapped up tightly in the blankets. I walked over to her, and noticed that she looked paler than she normally does I gently shook her awake. She woke up, and looked at me.

"Babe you're sweating, you're also burning up, and pale are you feeling okay?" I asked. She shook her head.

"Hold on let me call, and see if someone wants to come over." I said grabbing my phone. I dialed Ricky's number, and waited for him to answer.

"What?" He asked furious that somebody was clearly calling him and waking him up.

"Hey, sorry for waking you, but Nikki is sick, so I was wondering if."

"Say no more I'll be there soon." He said hanging up the phone. I shook my head laughing. Then Tristen came in the room, and snuggled up to his mom. I stood there, and watched them for a few seconds, then decided to go back downstairs, and clean up the mess that Tristen left for me in the kitchen.

I was still cleaning up the kitchen when Ricky walked into the house.

"I'm here!" He announced. I poked my head from around the corner, and saw he had a bag with him.

"What's that?" I asked pointing towards the bag.

"The essentials for sick people." He said setting it on the table, and started emptying it.

"We have soup, water, Gatorade, and medicine." He said looking pretty proud of himself.

"What's this?" I asked noticing there was a box at the bottom of the bag.

"Oh that is for the people who aren't sick." He said. Then he opened the box, and I saw what was inside.

"Chicken wings?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"Yes!" He exclaimed.

"So where's the little munchkin?" He asked.

"Upstairs laying down with his mom." I replied he started walking up to the bedroom. When we got there we looked in. Tristen was still snuggled up as close as he can get to his mom, and Nikki was lightly rubbing his head.

"Hey buddy why don't you go with Uncle Ricky, and play some video games or something?" I said. Tristen pipped his head up, and quickly jumped off the bed, and ran to Ricky and I.

"Come on Uncle Ricky lets go!" He said grabbing Ricky by the hand, and pulling him out of the room. I walked up to Nikki, and sat down on the edge of the bed Nikki scooted over towards me, and laid her head on my lap. She reached her hand out grabbed my hand, and put it on her head. I chuckled, and started scratching her head.

"Hey Ricky brought you some stuff he calls it the essentials for sick people." I said.

"What is it?" She asked her voice scratchy.

"Um lets see there's soup, water, medicine, and something else.." I stopped and tried to think about the other thing that Ricky brought for her.

"Oh that's right he also brought Gatorade as well." She lifted her head.

"He brought Gatorade?" She asked. I nodded my head.

"Want me to go get it for you?" I asked her.

"Please?" She asked. He nodded my head, and gently lifted her head off of my lap, and laid it back on the pillows.

"I'll be right back." I said with a wink, and left. I could hear Ricky, and Tristen downstairs yelling at each other. I rolled my eyes when I realized they were fighting over a game. I grabbed the Gatorade from the fridge, and started walking back upstairs when the doorbell rang. I turned around, and went to get the door. I opened it, but didn't recognize who was standing there.

"Can I help you?" I asked the woman. She was at least mid thirties, beach blonde hair, blue jeans, a pink shirt, and heels. She was also wearing a whole bunch of makeup. Wow fake much?

"You aren't going to invite me in?" She asked. I looked at her confused.

"Why would I let you in? I don't even know who the hell you are." I stated. She rolled her eyes.

"I'm an old friend of Nikki's." She said with a fake smile. I raised one of my eyebrows.

"So?" I asked I was starting to get annoyed with her she was wasting my time.

"Could you just let me in!" She snapped. I opened my mouth to say something, but someone beat me to it.

"What the hell are you doing here Ashley?" Nikki's scratchy voice asked from behind me.

"Hello Nikki dear it appears I am currently fighting with your boyfriend, but I'm pretty sure you know why I'm here." She said with an evil grin, and crossing her arms over her chest.

"Yeah, I can see that, but what the hell do you want?" Nikki asked this time she was standing right behind me with the same look as the girl standing outside.

"What do you think I'm doing here? I've come to claim what's mine, and you know exactly what that means!" She said.

"What's yours? Excuess me?" Nikki said bolting outside I followed, and shut the door behind me. Hoping Tristen wouldn't walk out, and see what's happening.

"You know I took care of him when you couldn't! He's mine, and you know it!" The blonde yelled.

"When I couldn't? You know you guys stole him from me there was no, because I couldn't handle it so I gave him to you! No you fucking took him without giving me a choice!" Nikki yelled getting up in the blondes face. I was close behind Nikki before she could do anything she would regret.

"I raised him! He is mine not yours." The blonde said.

"Oh I'm sorry did he come from your vagina? Were you a big fat bowling ball for nine months? Were you the one screaming in pain for twenty seven hours while pushing the bowling ball out of your fucking vagina? No! I didn't think so!" Nikki said inching closer towards the blonde.

"Ricky get out here!" I yelled we were still pretty close to the house, but either way I knew Ricky would be listening to what's going on anyways. A second later the door opened, and out stepped Ricky who quickly closed it behind him so Tristen couldn't come out too.

"Look just give him back to me, and I'll leave." The blonde said. Ricky walked over to my side with a questioning look I just shrugged my shoulders, and stayed close behind Nikki.

"He's not yours, you're not taking him from me!" Nikki said. The blonde had a huge smirk on her face.

"He called me mommy." She said. That was it that set Nikki off.

"You bitch!" She said throwing a punch, and hitting the blondes right eye. I grabbed Nikki by the waist, and pulled her back. The blonde just held a hand close to her face.

"I'm his mother not you! Don't you ever talk to me or my son ever again!" Nikki yelled. She stopped struggling in my arms, so I let her go, but that was a mistake, because as soon as my arms dropped she lunged for the blonde again, and knocked her on the ground. Nikki was on top of her, and kept punching her in different places, and was pulling her hair. It took both Ricky and I to pull her off of the blonde.

"You need to leave!" I said pointing at the blonde. She got up, and was still holding her hand to her face.

"Stay out of our lives!" Nikki yelled, as Ricky and I pulled her back towards the house. When the blonde was out of sight I looked at her.

"Who was that?" I asked.

"That was my sister Ashley." Nikki said looking behind her to make sure the blonde wasn't there. Then we all walked back into the house, and shut the door.
