Third Person's POV
*Play Song*
"Wait, Katelyn, what happened to Aphmau!?" Aaron exclaims, fear flooding his heart at Katelyn's accusation.
"Aaron. You can drop the damn act already! We know what you have done, and honestly—I wouldn't think you would do something like this." Katelyn retorts, her voice hoarse and eyes bloodshot from crying.
"Katelyn, please—tell me what's going on. I was out of town on a fUc king consult!"
"Wait, what?" Her tone lowering, still busily sniffing away.
Aaron takes a shallow breath, as calm as he could be while still being handcuffed and manhandled by two officers. "I wasn't here today. I was out of town giving a neuro consult, just call them, they'll tell you. Now, you tell me—exactly what happened."
"But I saw...you were—" Katelyn stutters, but is cut off by two police officers dragging a handcuffed Gene along with them, dried ominous blood splattered all over the upper half of his body. He resembled something straight out of a horror film.
"Ms. Firefist, we found the real culprit—this man framed Mr. Lycan by using a CIA undercover mask which replicated Mr. Lycan's face and voice, you can let him go." One of the police officers escorting Gene explains.
The officers uncuff Aaron quickly, briefly apologizing.
Once free, Aaron immediately turns to Katelyn—confusion, worry, and a whole fashion of feelings running through his mind.
"Katelyn, please tell me—what happened to Aphmau?"
Katelyn whimpers, sniffling. Her bottom lip trembling so much it made it extremely difficult for her to articulate words.
Gene then suddenly yells from the end of the hall as he is being hauled away by the officers.
"She's dead, dude! You killed her!"
Aaron eyes widen largely at Gene's final words before he is hauled out of sight.
Aaron stumbles into the wall at the news, the tears not gathering because he was too in shock, brain and heart attacking him from the inside.
She's...gone?
Her bright, beautiful smile...
Was it now frozen in time?
Never to be seen again?
Katelyn rushes over to him as he began to decline, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"Aaron—Aaron, she's not dead okay? She's in surgery...she's gonna be fine." She informs him, her face not so convincing.
"What did I do, Katelyn? Did I hurt her?" Aaron inquires, small groups of tears traveling down his cheeks in fear.
"No, but in her mind, you did..."
"What? Katelyn, I'm so confused, please just tell me—what happened?"
"...Come with me."
Katelyn leads Aaron down the hall, entering the surgery corridor to at the door of O.R. 1, peering in through the small window, then immediately turning away, as if she couldn't bear to see the room's content.
"She's in this room...you can look."
Aaron inches closer to take a look for himself, expecting to see her doing the surgery, but instead...finds her open on the table—many surgeons he knew and worked with, working hastily away at her.
Her eyes were peacefully shut, her mouth stained by what could only be imagined as her own blood.
He opens his mouth to gasp for suddenly unavailable air, making him choke on his own breath.
Aaron covers his trembling lips with his even shakier hand, seeing her beautiful face, pale and horrifically cold.
He turns away as Katelyn did, shutting his eyes in a feign attempt to erase such an image from his mind.
Katelyn then pulls him away from the door, bringing him into one of the conference rooms.
Aaron, still in shock of what he just saw, slowly sits down on one of the chairs, looking up to Katelyn for some sort of explanation.
"Okay, Aaron—I just want you to remember to take...deep breaths, okay?" She says calmly, working her lip.
"Okay..."
I don't like the sound of this.
"Earlier today, Lily went and told Aphmau a bunch of lies about you—one of them saying you don't want, nor like kids..."
"What, why!?" He exclaims, his eyebrows furrowed and face crunching from the stained tears.
"My Irene, you got angry at the part—okay, moving on..."
"Aphmau, being the smart girl she was, didn't believe Lily, but wanted to make sure it wasn't true, of course. She knew you were out of town but when she saw you in the x-ray room—she went to go talk to you and—" Katelyn explains, but Aaron interrupts her with the biggest of his current questions.
"This is what's confusing me...I wasn't there—who WAS there?"
"Gene was. Lily gave him the mask and a body suit to make him look exactly like you."
"Why—why would they want to do that?" Aaron speaking with a boggled mind.
"This is the part, where I want you to remain calm...please?" Katelyn pleads, her eyes still producing tears.
"Okay..." He swallowed.
"Aphmau went to talk about it with you—or at the time Gene—and...Gene acted all terrible and jerkish, so Aphmau would hate you..."
The anger rising in Aaron was blatantly clear, a flickering fire swarming in his eyes.
"Then Aphmau told Gene she was pregnant and—"
"Wait—she's pregnant?!" Aaron rests both hands on his head while trying to wrap his head around the whole ordeal.
Even though I'm a world class neurosurgeon...
There are so many things about the brain I don't understand...
Like its emotions...
"Yes, and Gene took this as an opportunity to make her hate you even more...so he—pinned her to the wall and angerly told her to get an, well, an abortion, but she refused, so he....he..." Katelyn starts struggling at this part, her sobs threatening to reappear.
"He started attacking her—kneeing her in the abdomen to kill the baby..." Before she can even finish, Aaron leaps out of his chair, slamming his fists against the table.
"GENEEEEEEEE!!" Aaron bellows loudly, veins straining, his breaths quick and unsteady.
What must have been running through her brain...
Her fear...
That I would do something like that to her?
I said I wouldn't let anything happen to her...
I said I would be there for her...
I said I would never hurt her...
Now she thinks I tried to kill our baby...and her.
Katelyn, although extremely upset herself, continues.
"...He didn't stop—even when...when....she begged him to—he did it till she fell unconscious." Katelyn covers her mouth as she sobs, her words murmured by her fingers.
Aaron shoots up, turns around and punches the wall, leaving a large dent in it. Pieces of drywall sprinkling down as a result.
"....he did this—the whole time, as me?"
Aaron shakily turns to Katelyn, his face flooded with tears.
She nods, her powder blue hair covering half her face.
"How is she now...and the baby?" He questions, calming down, feeling the stinging repercussions in his knuckles.
"For now, she's stable, but the baby...at that much damage to her abdomen and at the baby's stage of maturity, it's very unlikely that—"
Aaron slumps back down on his chair, grasping desperately at his hair.
He scrunches his eyes shut, shaking his head side to side slowly in disbelief of what he was hearing.
"She hates me, doesn't she?" Aaron asks, softly.
Katelyn clears her throat, slightly nodding.
"Oh Irene, why...." He moans, a gentle, consistent stream of tears still trekking down his cheeks.
All this time, she's gonna think fake.
She's gonna think me...as a monster.
Wait...Lily.
"Wait, what about Lily?"
"Apparently it was partly her idea—she was arrested as well."
Just then, Katelyn's pager starts buzzing.
She quickly glances at it, her eyes immediately widening.
She then looks to Aaron, a pitiful glint in her eyes.
"She's out of surgery..."
Have a nice day my crystals!
