Aphmau's POV

*Play Song*

I was sleeping peacefully, until I suddenly wake up to Katelyn violently shaking me.

"Katelyn?" I almost whisper, rubbing one of of my eyes with the back of my hand.

"Aphmau....."

Then she does something that startles me.

The drastic waking wasn't that startling.....

It was the tears in her eyes....

She drags me out of the house, her ultimate goal was trying to get me moving.

What.......

"What about Lilith....."

"No time Aphmau! Just follow me! We need to get to the hospital!" She yells through a sob. 

"Katelyn! Calm down! Just tell me what's going on?!" I scream at her, fear pulsing in my heart. 

"I'm sorry Aphmau.....I'm so sorry...." She manages out between sobs, pulling my arm tight behind her as we ran towards the hospital.

I finally jump in front of Katelyn, raising my hands to my sides as a barrier.

"Katelyn, please you're scaring me!"

She chokes momentarily on her own snot, ignoring my request as she grabs my forearm and starts running again.

What was going on?!

We enter the main entrance of the hospital, Katelyn looking around panically before eyeing one of the trauma rooms, which had the blinds shut so we couldn't see through the windows.

Before we enter, Katelyn stops me, placing both of her hands on each of my shoulders, rubbing them reassuringly.

"A few minutes ago, we got a call about a 2 car collision on the highway and.........and....."

Before Katelyn finishes her sentence, the blinds on one of the windows shoot up, revealing the worst thing that could have ever happened to me.....

Sadly.....it was happening right now.

Everyone I knew was frantically rushing around the room, all of them with tears in their eyes.

The scene sends me into shock, my whole body froze like as if it was encased in ice.

I shakily place my hand on the too clear window, unshed tears gathering at my eyelids. 

"Aaron....no...please.." I whisper, my brain not able to comprehend what was happening.

Aaron was lying unconscious, bloody and bruised everywhere, wounds covering the majority of his body.

Car crash...

When did this happen?!

When did he go out driving?!

Why did he need to go to the highway?!

When did he leave?!

Then my thoughts are cut off, by the disheartening, never-ending flat line of the heart monitor.

"AARON! NO!" I start slamming my hands against the strong plastic window, my voice heightened to a painful scream.

Zane was doing CPR on him, pressing hard on his chest.

Some of the people in the room start to realize I was there, their guilty gazes diverting from me.

"AARON! PLEASE NO!" I continue to scream, the tears streaming down my face.

Zane starts slowly stopping, finally drawing his hands away from Aaron's limp body.

"AAAARRRRROOONN!" I slam the window harder, almost getting everyone's attention.

Then everything becomes disoriented, the noises and sounds around me becoming somewhat numbed, the edges of my vision blurried by tears or shock I had no idea....

But I did hear one thing.....

"I'll always be here for you....you stupid potato"

I shoot up in bed screaming, panting rapidly, not realizing where I was or what I was doing.

"Aph? Hey...hey...its okay....you are okay....you are safe....I'm here...."

It's the last group of his words that calm me....

I snuggle into his bare muscular chest, softly crying.

I start to realize we were in our bedroom, and based off the glowing 3:04 from our bedside table, it was the middle of the night.

"I thought that your nightmares were gone....." Aaron says, holding me tight, scared that loosening his grip would send me back to the cruel nightmares. 

"This....one....was different.." I gasped between sobs, my hand pressed against my chest, trying desperately to control my breathing.

I always felt safe in his arms, his breath warm against my cold skin.

"What happened in this one?" He questions as he slowly brings his hand down my hair.

"......you died.....you were gone...."

"You left me..." I scrunch my eyelids together, trying to stop the tears from flowing.

"Its okay Aph, I'm here....I'm okay...you're okay..."

I sniffle, lifting my head from his chest, to look up to his face.

He meets my gaze, brushing my tears away with his thumb.

I just stare into his eyes, admiring his iconic galaxy pupils which were staring back at my hazel ones.

It is in these moments, where all the suffering, guilt, and pain disappears, leaving just us.

How he can make me feel safe, in the darkest of times is beyond me.

"Are ywou okway?" I hear a high pitched cute voice call.

Aaron and I sit up, finding at the foot of the bed Lilith in her frilly nightgown, a stuffed bear in one hand.

"Yes Lilith honey, I'm okay....I'm so sorry if I woke you...." I apologize, feeling guilt weigh on my heart.

Did my nightmare....scare her?

"No you didn't, bwut when I have nightmwares, I would want swomeone to slweep with me, it would stwop my nightmwares. Dwo you want me to slweep with you?" Lilith's little voice whispers.

I smile, starstruck by her overwhelming cuteness.

But what if I wake up screaming in the middle of the night, and scare her?

"Sure Lilith, come here sweetie" Aaron gestures for Lilith to come on the bed.

I give Aaron a scared look, which he only acknowledges by placing his hand on my cheek then nodding knowingly to me.

We both lie back down, Lilith snuggling in between us.

I wrap my arms around Lilith, and Aaron wraps his arms around both of us.

The two of them radiating that warming feeling.

If this doesn't make me feel safe...

I don't know what will....
