(A/N: This is gonna be super long like the longest chapter yet like 4000+ words. I'm not kidding. And there's gonna be implied sexual activity)

3RD PERSON POV

August 16, 2019

Ocean sat down on Mariah's couch. She is supposed to drop Mariah off at the airport soon. "Baby! Hurry up or you'll miss your flight!" She exclaimed. "If you miss it, you'll be stuck at the airport for another 18 hours!"

"I'm ready! I'm ready!" Mariah said as she left her room. She had ger carry on, luggage, and a backpack. "My pets are already at my parent's house, my fridge is empty, I packed my clothes, devices, and stuff," She thought out loud

"Do you have your ticket?" Ocean asks

"Shit," Mariah said. She went over to her desk and searched through her desk drawers for the ticket. She found it, let out a sigh of relief, and went back over to Ocean. "Are you sure you can't come and visit me?"

"I would if I could baby, but I have work and I got my first clothing commission! I need to work hard on it so my work can spread and I can maybe open my own boutique!" Ocean said. She kissed Mariah's cheek. "But I'll be with you until you get to the bag check," 

"Fine," Mariah said. She kissed Ocean's forehead. "I'll try and call and text every day," She smiled and put her hand on her luggage. "Now let's go before I miss my flight,"

The two of them quickly rush to Ocean's car and put Mariah bags in the trunk. Thye both got in, got some Starbucks, and got to the airport

"What time is your flight anyways?" Ocean asks Mariah, they had already checked in Mariah's luggage and now they were walking to where Mariah gets her bag checked

"In two hours," Mariah said

"You should probably go through security now. I'll see you soon my love," Ocean said. She kissed Mariah on the lips softly

Mariah kissed back, holding her luggage with one hand and using the other hand to cup Ocean's cheek

Ocean had both of her hands on Mariah's cheeks. She pulled away when she was out of breath. Their faces only inches apart. "I'm gonna miss you so much, baby," She whispered

"I'm gonna miss you, even more, my sweet little pumpkin," Mariah whispered. She pecked Ocean's lips softly. "I want to stay here all day and kiss your soft lips but I need to go. . ."

"Okay. . ." Ocean says softly. She kissed her lips for the last time. She acted as if she would never see her again but in reality, she would see her sooner than Mariah would think. On August 26, Ocean was going to New York with Robert. She wanted to surprise Mariah in New York and since Robert was already going, Ocean decided to go with him. So, they bought tickets together and didn't tell anyone except her family, Robert, Jon, and her boss. Her boss gave her that time off as long as she picks up extra shifts when she comes back. Her boss was on board with the surprise because she has a wife and likes to surprise her too

Mariah forced herself to pull away. "I'll text you every single day pumpkin,"

"I'll be waiting for you!" Ocean said. She watched Mariah walk away. They waved bye to each other and when Mariah was out of sight, Ocean walked out of the airport. She got into the car and immediately went shopping for her flight for New York

TIME SKIP 

August 26, 2019

11:00 am

Ocean started to text, Mariah. Jon was dropping off Robert and Ocean at the airport. Since Mariah only knew about Robert going to New York, Ocean needs to find a good excuse as to why she wasn't going to be texting Mariah. Cause when they land in New York, Mariah will be done with rehearsals and relaxing at her hotel, or well, hopefully, she'll be there at least cause then Robert and Ocean's plan won't work

Ocean left her cat with her parents and had only carry-on luggage and a small backpack tall enough to fit her laptop and big enough to fit her personal items like electronics, chargers, wallet, passport, snacks, earbuds, a small pouch with all of her toiletries (like hand sanitizer, lip balm, medications, and female products), a book, a spare change of clothes, and a jacket. And in her carry on she had all of her clothes, shoes, etc for the next 10 days

"Baby, sorry if I don't respond, I'm dropping off Robert at the airport, then I'm going to babysit my little brother" Ocean texted Mariah

She didn't expect her to respond so she turned off her phone. She got out of the car when Jon pulled up to the drop off area. "Thank you, Jon!" Ocean thanked from the outside

Robert got out as well and got both his and Ocean's bags from the trunk. "Bye Jon!" He said. He closed the trunk and brought the bags to the sidewalk. He watched Jon drive off

Ocean looked at Robert. "Hey, you ready?" She asks, grabbing a hold of her carry-on, and putting on her backpack

Robert looked at Ocean. "Yeah, come on let's go so we can get you your Starbucks," He said

They both walk into the airport and get their bags checked

"Miss you can go through," The security said to Ocean

She goes through without taking off her shoes which is okay because her foot size is so tiny

"Sir, you need to take off your shoes and place them on the conveyer belt," The security guide said

Robert did as he said and stepped through the x-ray scanner. Once he went through, he got his stuff and put back his shoes. He saw Ocean waiting for him. "How come you go through so easily?"

"Because I can never fit a weapon in my shoes, they're too tiny!" Ocean jokes, but it was true. She was petit and could fit in kid's shoes and a large in kid's. "If I was wearing boots, now that's a different story. Now come on slowpoke,"

"Shut up Shortcake," Robert said. He started rolling his carry-on as he walked with Ocean

The two of them walked to Starbucks, got drinks, and headed to wait near their gate. The two of them sat down on the floor, using their phones, and drinking their drinks

"Hey Robert, I know what I'm doing in New York but, what are you going to do?" Ocean asked

"Oh, I'm going to watch Dear Evan Hanson," Robert said, looking up from their phones to talk. It took every fiber in his body to not think of this trip as a romantic one. He was closer to Ocean than ever, friendship wise and physically. What made it even worse is that they were also gonna be rooming together

"I know that what I mean is like besides that. You're staying there for 10 days," Ocean said

"I mean, there' a lot to do there. I would suggest we go around acting like tourists but, I think you're hands are gonna be full with Mariah," Robert said. He smiled but it hurt

"Well, she's gonna be busy with rehearsals and her own things and I'm mostly here for her so, we can hang out most of the days," Ocean said with a smile. "And I will only act like tourists with you if we get those really shitting I heart NY C shirts,"

"Oh, of course, we will. It's essential for being a tourist," Robert said with a laugh

TIME SKIP

8:00 pm in New York

Ocean and Robert got out of the airport. "Alright, we just need to get a taxi and go to the hotel," She said. "If you need food, we could get room service, get groceries and cook in the hotel room's kitchen, go somewhere before, or we can go to one of the restaurants in the hotel," Ocean suggests

"Let's think about food after you go surprise Mariah, I think she'll want to see you as soon as possible," Robert said, he was hungry but he wanted to see how happy Ocean would be when she sees Mariah again because when he sees Ocean smile, it makes him smile too

Ocean nods. She calls an Uber and once it's there, they both but their luggage in the trunk and get it. Ocean tells them their destination

The Uber driver was a sweet middle age black man that you could see was tired. As he was driving, he asks, "What brings you two to New York? Honeymoon, couple's vacation?"

"Oh we're not dating, sir. We're just friends," Robert said as he looked at Ocean. The dark lighting in the car blocked out his blush thankfully

"He's here to see a musical. I'm here to surprise my girlfriend actually," Ocean said

"Oh, sorry for the confusion. My daughter has a girlfriend. They got married last spring. If you're going on a date, the best place is the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. My daughter proposed to her girlfriend there and got married. It's beautiful in the fall and spring," He said

"That sounds amazing, thank you for the recommendation, sir!" Ocean said with a big smile. She was excited

"You're very welcome, would you two like some music? I can't offer you anything besides the radio or some music on CDs," He said

"Oh no, it's alright," Robert said. He plugged his earbuds into his phone. "Wanna listen?" He asks Ocean, holding out the other side of the earbud for her

Ocean took it and placed it in her ear. They both jammed out in the back until they got to the hotel

The Uber driver said, "This is your stop, now you two have a nice night," He unlocked the doors and the trunk

Robert got out to get their bags

Ocean paid him through the app. She took out her wallet from her backpack. "Thank you for the ride, the recommendations, you're super sweet, so. . ." She said and opened up her wallet. She took out a $100 bill and handed it to him. "Thank you,"

The Uber driver took it. "Thank you, I hope things go well with you and your girlfriend," He said

Ocean got out of the car and went over to Robert and grabbed her luggage

The Uber driver rolled down his window. "Boy, come here," He said and motioned for Rober to come over to him

Robert looked at Ocean before going over

Once he was over there, the Uber driver said, "Don't lie to yourself boy. I can tell you like that girl. And it must hurt seeing her with someone else. But you gotta ask yourself if you're going to hold back your feelings and bottle them up until the day you die. Or be honest with her. Tell her that you still have feelings and let it out. Maybe it will help you let it go. But if you want to keep the feelings for her, I can't really help you there," 

Robert stood there shocked. "U- uh. . . I'll think about it," He said. "Thank you,"

"Have a nice night," The Uber driver said. He drove off as Robert went back to Ocean

"What was that about?" Ocean asks

"He was just asking me a question. Come on, let's go check-in, and then you can surprise Mariah," Robert said. They both walked in and went to the front desk

Meanwhile outside. . .

Mariah stopped dead in her tracks. She had just finished having dinner with some people from the cast of Mean Girls

"Mariah? What happened?" Megan asks

"I think I just saw my girlfriend," Mariah said. She started speed walking into the hotel lobby. She looked around the lobby and her eyes landed at the front desk where a short girl and a tall guy stood. The girl turned around at the right moment and saw Mariah

"Mariah!" Ocean said. She rushed over to her and basically threw herself at her. "Baby!"

Mariah caught Ocean and hugged her tight. "Pumpkin!" She said

They both started to cry

"I miss you. . . so much. . ." Mariah said in a soft voice. She placed a much-needed kiss on Ocean's lips

Ocean kissed back and after a few seconds, she pulled away. "This isn't how I was gonna surprise you," She laughed

"I don't care! You're here and I'm going to hold you. I thought you had work!" Mariah said. She kissed all over Ocean's face. She was going to kiss her even more but she was interrupted by the noise of Ocean's stomach rumbling. "Wait when was the last time you ate?"

"I had Starbucks before I got on the plane," Ocean said. "And I had like 5 Ritz crackers on the plane," She said it like it was nothing. "And my boss let me take the days off. Since I work at night, I have to take the shifts in the day plus another when I come back,"

Robert had finished getting the room keys. "Hi Mariah," Robert said as he wheeled his and Ocean's suitcase over to her

"Robert did you let my dear sweet pumpkin not eat," Mariah said while glaring at him

"Well, I missed you too Mariah. Anyways, I was sleeping most of the flight," Robert said

"Robert and I were gonna go get something from room service or like find somewhere that does take out because honestly. I am so tired from sitting in that plane seat for 5 hours," Ocean said 

"Alright, I need to go change and shower anyway," Mariah said. "And I have rehearsals tomorrow at 9 but, after 3, do you want to go on a date?" She asked

"Obviously," Ocean said. "Okay, I need to go but before I do, one last kiss?" Ocean asks. She pointed to her lips with a smile

"Well if you insist," Mariah said. She placed both of her hands on Ocean's cheeks as she placed her lips on Ocean's

Ocean kissed back as she placed her arms around Mariah's waist. She stayed like that for a few seconds before pulling away. "I'll see you tomorrow," She said in a whisper before forcing herself to pull away from Mariah's grasp

"Good night," Mariah said

"Good night," Ocean said. She went over to Robert, grabbed her luggage from him, and walked towards the elevator with Robert

Once they were alone, Robert looked at Ocean. "Uh, Ocean," Robert said. He was thinking of what the Uber driver said. Since he's rooming with Ocean he knew that his heart would be beating the entire time. By the end, he might tell Ocean but if it comes out beforehand then it comes out

"Yeah?" Ocean said. She looked at Robert

"I-" Robert started. He stopped himself because he remembered how happy Ocean looked when she was with Mariah. He searched the depths of his mind for something to say that isn't just 'nevermind'. "I need food," He said

Ocean laughed. "Me too. What do you want to eat?" She asks. She opened her phone to see food places that are still open and is close to them

"I'll let you choose," Robert said

"I want," Ocean thought for a bit. "Sandwiches!" 

"Alright but you're paying," Robert said

"Of course I am," Ocean said with a laugh 

TIME SKIP 

August 27, 2019

12:00 pm

Ocean woke up from much-needed sleep. She sat up and rubbed her eyes. She looked at Robert's bed which was to her right. She saw it was empty. She got out of bed and went into the kitchenette in search of Robert. She saw a note on the counter

Good morning Shortcake

I had a feeling that you'd go to the kitchen first
if you didn't see me when you woke up 
I'm at the gym downstairs 
I'll be back by 1:00 and I'll get you some tea bags
from the breakfast buffet and a banana
Maybe some yogurt if they have it
Text me if you want anything else by like 12:30

Ocean laughed at the nicknames. She decided to just text Robert, 'Get me packs black tea, green tea, and something that looks sweet please tall man' She walked to the bathroom, placed her phone on the counter and started to get ready for the day

While Ocean was brushing her teeth, she checked her phone to see:

Ocean set down her phone. She finished brushing her teeth and started to brush her hair. She looked through her makeup bag and took out what she was using and set down the brush. She went to her luggage and looked through it for the right outfit

She chooses:

While Ocean was picking out her outfit Robert came into the room. 

"I got your tea and banana. They didn't have yogurt," Robert said as he placed the food on the table next to Ocean

"Thanks, Rob. Can you give me your opinion on the outfit I'm wearing to my date with Mariah?" Ocean asks. She slings the clothes over her arm

"Yeah sure," Robert said. He went through his luggage to find an outfit for the day

Ocean went to the bathroom, changed into the outfit, and came out in 5 minutes. She said, "Okay, what do you think?"

Robert turned around and looked at Ocean. He fell this heart race. "Wow," He said. "It's great. Mariah won't take her eyes off of you for the entire day,"

"Thank you," Ocean said with a smile. She looked through her luggage once again for a purse and shoes to go with the outfit. She ended up choosing a black crossbody bag and black sneakers with some black knee-high socks. She put on the socks and packed her bag. "So what are you going to do Robert?"

"I'm just going to walk around and take pictures. Maybe get us dinner for when you come back later. Maybe get us the shirts for when we turn into tourists," Robert said. He got out a black shirt, blue jeans, brown belt, black sneakers, and a hat that we would obviously wear backward

Ocean laughed softly. She went to the table and grabbed all the tea bags and the banana. She put them in the kitchen. She started to make a cup of green tea. While that was seeping, Ocean ate the banana

Robert showered and changed into his outfit. When he was done he sat down on his bed. He looked through his phone. He went on twitter and tweeted, 'I'm in New York for 10 days and I gotta spend it with @ oceankaneko She's making me get her tea and bananas'

Ocean looked at her phone too see her new notification. She unlocked her phone and looked at the tweet. She looked over at Robert and they made eye contact. She snapped a picture of Robert looking at her. She replied to the tweet with the picture and the comment, 'Shut up you're the one who offered to get me tea'

Robert saw her reply and laughed. "I'm gonna go live, you wanna join?" He asked. He opened up Instagram 

"Yeah sure," Ocean said. She took the teabag out of the cup and threw it away. She sat down on the bed next to Robert. She took a sip of her tea

Robert went live. "O, can I get some tea?" He asked as he looked at her

"Sure," Ocean said. She handed him the mug

Robert took the mug and took a quick sip before handing it back. "Ew," He said. He made a sour face as he tasted the tea. "How can you drink this instead of coffee?" He asked

"Well I'm sorry you put this onto yourself," Ocean said and laughed. She took a sip of the tea

"Shit, I forgot about the live," Robert said. He looked at the phone. "Hi guys, I'm here with Ocean in NYC. And I'm just waiting for Ocean to leave for her date. So I can get some stuff done. So just ask some questions and I'll answer some and maybe Ocean will too,"

Ocean says, "I'll answer some depending on what it is," as she continues to drink her tea

"Why are you guys in New York?" Robert reads. "I'm here to see a musical and Ocean just tagged along so she can see Mariah," Robert responds

Ocean looks in the chat. "Why are you both wearing hats indoors?" She said. "I'm wearing a hat because it's part of my outfit and I'm supposed to be leaving soon,"

"I don't like my hair," Robert said simply

Ocean gasped. "I should do your hair again," She said. She took off Robert's hat and ruffled it. She put his had on top of her hat. "Fun fact, I did his hair for day one of Starkid Homecoming. That's why it looked so good"

That comment sparked a flood of comments

"YES DO IT. DO IT"

"I need that. right now"

"now that you said it you gotta do it"

"RIGHT NOW. DO IT NOW"

And a bunch of other comments that are basically the same thing

"I brought my curling iron, hair products, hair straightener," Ocean said. "I can do your hair when you want me to,"

"You can do my hair right now since your day is in like an hour and a half," Robert said. He ran a hand through his hair. He stood up from the bed. "Alright let's do it," He sat back down on the chair in the room that's next to a table

Ocean got up from the bed and grabbed all of the tools and products. She had a wide smile on her face. She set down everything on the table and grabbed a towel to set down the tools while they were heating up. She plugged everything in

Robert pointed the camera at himself. "If I get burned, I'll cry," He said as a joke

"I'd say man up, but I cry when I get burned too," Ocean said. "Wouldn't it be cool if I just straightened Robert's hair? I'll make him look like an e-boy,"

"Please don't," Robert said. "I like my curls,"

"Alright, alright," Ocean said. She got to work. She did his hair the exact same way she did it on the first day of Homecoming

After around 10 minutes of hair curling and answering questions, Ocean had finished doing Robert's hair. "What does the chat think?" Ocean asked

"They like it," Robert said. "Alright, time to put a hat on it and completely disregard the fact you spent ten minutes on it," He stood up walked off camera. He came back after seeing the offended look on Ocean's face. "I'm kidding, kinda. I'm not an asshole I swear,"

Ocean looked at her phone. "I gotta go. I got a date!" She said. She started putting away her stuff. Once she was done, she got her bag and put on her shoes. "Bye!" She said and walked out the door

"Have fun," Robert said. "Alright guys, I'm gonna end the live now. Bye!" He said and ended the live. He turned off this phone. He sat in silence. It had only been a day and he already couldn't take staying in the same room as Ocean

TIME SKIP

Mariah had her arms around Ocean. They had just gotten back from their date and were approaching their hotel. They had gone to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and had lunch at the Yellow Magnolia Cafe. They walked a bit more and got some of those Levian cookies 

Mariah could not keep her distance from Ocean. She would give her kisses every few minutes. She was definitely touch-deprived. Mariah walked to Ocean's room. "I'll see you later cutie," She said and placed one last kiss on Ocean's lips

Ocean kissed back and pulled away after 30 seconds. "I love you," She said

"Good night," Mariah said. "I love you so much pumpkin,"

"Good night," Ocean said. "I'll see you later,"

Robert was sitting at the door. He listened to what they were saying. Tears fell down his face. He wished that Ocean was saying that stuff to him. When he heard the sound of the door unlocking, he quickly ran to the bathroom and locked the door

"I'm back," Ocean said. "I got cookies,"

Robert washed his hands, dried his hands and tears, and walked out the bathroom. "Hey, did you have a nice day?"

"Yeah, it was amazing!" Ocean said. She set the cookies down on the table. "I got you some cookies that took like an hour to get because of the line," 

"Thank you," Robert said. "I got you some pasta for dinner. It's in the fridge,"

"Thank you!" Ocean said. She got to her food and heated it up. "Do you wanna watch John Mulaney on my laptop?" She asks. "We can just eat on my bed," 

"Sure," Robert said. He took the box of cookies and Ocean's laptop and brought it to Ocean's bed

Ocean got her food and went to her bed. She turned on the laptop and logged into Netflix and put on a John Mulaney show

The two of them watched the show until Ocean fell asleep, making sure she washed her plate before she did

Robert put away the cookies and closed the laptop. Once everything was off of her bed, he tucked Ocean into bed. He sat down next to her. "I wish everything wasn't so complicated. I want to tell you that I still admire you and wish you were mine. But I can't be mad at you or Mariah because you look so happy. And I wish I wasn't such a wimp to tell you this while you're awake,"

He changed into his sleeping clothes and got into bed

TIME SKIP

September 5, 2019

1:00 am

Ocean woke up. For the last day, she roomed with Mariah since her roommate was rooming with someone else. She got out of bed and dressed herself. She put on one of Mariah's oversized shirts and a robe. She walked to the balcony. She sat down on one of the chairs. She looked over the city

"Are you okay?" Mariah asks. She yawned as she walked over to Ocean

"Yeah, I'm just. Thinking," Ocean said. She brought her legs to her chest

"About what?" Mariah asks. She sat down on the other chair on the balcony

"It's just that, you're gonna be busy an all with the tour. And I'm wondering if you're ever gonna have time for me. I could barely last ten days without you. And long-distance is what caused me and my last boyfriend to break up!" Ocean said. "I don't want us to break up but, we need to think what is the best thing to do that won't put stress on both of us,"

Mariah listened to her. She understood where she was coming from

"I want to be with you but how is this gonna work. I can't see you in person, and you're gonna be busy with what eight shows a week. We need to work something out. We can't just leave it alone. We'll break!" Ocean said. Tears started to form in her eyes. She had been trying to keep it under wraps the entire trips but she needed to say something

"I know. I know," Mariah said. "We can make it work. Every moment I can, I'll text you, call you, anything!"

"No, Mariah you don't understand. You can do whatever but it still doesn't change the fact that its long-distance," Ocean said. "Long-distance sucks," 

"I know what you're saying. I get it. Let's just sleep on it and see how we feel in the morning," Mariah said. She stood up and hugged Ocean

Ocean nodded and hugged Mariah. "I love you. I just want to be with you,"

"I know. I want to be with you too. But maybe, we started dating at a bad time," Mariah said. "It's not that I don't want to be with you it's just that. I don't think it was a good idea to start a relationship when I have to leave you alone for like a year," 

"I agree with that," Ocean said

"I love you but, maybe it's for the best that we break up," Mariah said. She pulled from the hug and backed up to look at Ocean

"Let's just sleep on it," Ocean said. She kissed Mariah's cheek and walked back to bed

Mariah followed her, she made sure to snag a kiss right before Ocean feel asleep

TIME SKIP

September 5, 2019

4:00 am

Ocean and Mariah woke up. Ocean needed to get to a flight at 8 am. She had everything packed she just needed to change her clothes and check out of the room with Robert

"I'm going to go get changed," Ocean said to Mariah. She brought her luggage so she could change without having to leave. She grabbed her clothes and went to the bathroom. She did her business, brushed her teeth, some skin care, brushed her hair, and put on her outfit. She walked out of the bathroom and went over to Mariah who was now sitting up and checking her phone. "So, what's the verdict?" She asked

"I think. We should break up but, if we're not dating anyone when I get back, and we're both ready for it. We can get back together," Mariah said. She grabbed Ocean's hands. "You will forever be one of my best friends. I remember us meeting in high school. I thought you were one of the cool kids because you had a best friend who stayed by your side. But when we became friends, I realized you were even cooler. Which is weird because I was older than you. Anyways, you're my best friend. And dating or not, you'll still my best friend. Now give me a hug. And maybe a kiss?" Mariah held her arms out

Ocean hugged Mariah. "I love you," She said. She kissed her on the lips softly. She pulled away after a while. "I gotta go," She said in a sad tone

"Okay. . . Maybe I'll see you in a few months? For my birthday? New Years?" Mariah suggested

Ocean nodded. "Maybe," She forced herself to pull away from Mariah

"Oh yeah, you know since I can't play Lex in Black Friday, you can auditon. I know Robert will be very happy if you get the role," Mariah said with a smile

"I will probably audition just for fun and if I get the part, I get the part but, I'd much rather get a smaller role since the Langs and I had a discussion about costumes since basically everyone knows at this point that I make and design clothes," Ocean said

"Alright, alright, go now before I cry," Mariah said. She hugged Ocean one more time and kissed her forehead. "I love you Pumpkin,"

"I love you too baby," Ocean said. She kissed her cheek. When Mariah let her go, she grabbed her luggage and left

Oecan cried a bit but when she got back to her hotel room with Robert she was a fucking mess

Robert saw Ocean's eyes engulfed in tears. "What happened?" He asked and immediately went to her side. He hugged her tight

"I just broke up with Mariah," Ocean said in between heavy breaths

Robert heard the news but he didn't feel happy. He felt sad that Ocean was just breaking down in his arms. He expected that he would just a little bit because then he would have a chance with Ocean. But, he didn't want to see Ocean so sad

She stayed strong because she didn't like looking like a hot mess in front of people. She'd rather keep that for the bedroom with a gallon of ice cream by her side

Robert placed a hand on her shoulder. "Let's go get you some ice cream or Starbucks," He said. He knew what would cheer her up mostly because he knew what made her happy from what he saw and what he's been told
