3RD PERSON POV

Ocean gets out of Mariah's car and gets her luggage from Mariah's trunk. Ocean waves bye to her and watched Mariah drive off. Once Mariah was far away enough, she rolls her luggage to the door of her house and knocks. She was so excited to see her family again

The door opens and it is dark. She walks inside the house and the lights turn on. 

"SURPRISE!" Her mom, dad, and brother say in unison

Ocean smiled wide and walks towards the 3. She lets go of her luggage and hugs them all tight. "I missed you guys!" She pulls away from the hug

"I missed you too big sis! Did you get me a gift as you promised?" Her little brother Ryuuichi says. He was jumping up and down with joy

"Yes, I got you all a little something," Ocean says. She rolls her luggage to the couch and lays it on the floor. She opens it

"We're glad to have you back at the house sweetie," Her mom, Emma, says 

"We're sorry for not being able to be there for your graduation. We wanted to but you know how it is" Her dad, Hayato, says

"It's fine, really. It was just a long ceremony of speeches and calling names" Ocean says. She takes a bag out of her luggage. She reached into the bag and pulled out a few boxes. "This is for you baby bro," She says and hands him a box 

Ryuuichi opens it and squeals in joy. He takes the contents of the box out and shows it off to his parents. It was a brown stuffed bear with a tiger hoodie. On the back of the bear's hoodie, it had the name 'Kotaro' embroidered near the bottom

"I made the hoodie, I hope you like it," Ocean says. She then pulls out two more boxes. She hands it to her parents

Her parents open it and they both gasp. Her mom got a beautiful necklace that spells her name. Her dad got a watch he always wanted. "How did you afford this?" Her mom asks

"I won money from a video and the first thing I did was buy you guys things," Ocean says. She loved her parents and always put them first. "And since I have extra money, I can put it towards your guy's savings. You guys can go on a vacation together free of charge, or maybe use it to pay for Ryuuichi when he goes to college

"Aww, honey. We don't need it, but we do appreciate the sentiment," Ocean's mom says

"We have enough money to set us for life and probably your kids too. You may not get the company, but you still get money from it. And we have a gift for you too" Ocean's dad says

"I mean I could make my own money, but I appreciate the sentiment," Ocean mocks. "And what gift?" 

Ocean's mom walks into the kitchen and comes out with some papers and keys. "We got you your own apartment! Don't take this the wrong way though. We love you and we love you being here, but it's time for you to leave the nest. You're always welcome to visit and if you need anything money, food, just call and visit whenever you want,"

"But you have to move in before next week. We'll help you move all your stuff" Ocean's dad says

Ocean nods. "Thank you guys" Ocean hugs the two of them tight

TIME SKIP

Ocean was in the kitchen cooking with her dad. "Salt." Ocean's dad says

"Salt!" Ocean repeated

"Pepper."

"Pepper!"

The savory aroma of filet mignons cooking filled the house 

"So how's that boyfriend of yours? Ethan was it?" Ocean's dad asked while he chopped up some vegetables

"Oh. We broke up. Just before I left North Carolina" Ocean says as she was making a sauce. "We both are getting busy with our own lives that there won't be much time to have a long-distance relationship. We wanted to make it work, but there were too many complications. At least we're on good terms" 

Ocean's dad stopping cutting vegetables and went over to hug Ocean. "I'm proud of you sweetie. You're always sweet to others and think about what's best in the end. Even if it hurts you. You get that part of you from your mom," he says. "I was never the friendliest of people. Why do you think I'm married to your mom? She saw the good in me when while I was always mean and angry." He stops hugging Ocean and goes back to cutting vegetables

"Thanks, dad. And I know, Mom was always friendly to you even when you were mean to her. Then one day you fell in love and blah blah blah kissy kissy." Ocean says with a small laugh

"Hey, you used to love that story as a little girl!" 

"I didn't say I hated it. I just know the entire story know" 

"My little girl is growing up so fast!"

The two laughed through the night and Ocean settled back into her home. Too bad she had to move later on
