3RD PERSON POV 

August 9, 2019

Ocean sat down on her couch. Mariah put her arm around her. They had a sleepover the night before and they just had breakfast. "Babe, what day is it?" Ocean asked

"It's Friday," Mariah said. She turned on the TV and scrolled through the channels

Ocean's eyes widened. "What time?" She asks, a bit panicked

Mariah picked up her phone and check the time. "It's 12," She said. "Why?"

"I'm supposed to meet up with Robert at 2," Ocean said. She promised that Fridays she would still hang out with Robert because it became their thing before she started dating Mariah

Mariah sighed. She placed her arms around Ocean. "I can help get you dressed. I like the view," She said with a small laughed at the end

Ocean's cheeks flushed red. "Oh shush," Ocean said

TIME SKIP

1:25 pm

Mariah picked out a black and white striped off the shoulder shirt, high waisted jeans, a black headband, a medium black backpack, and black sneakers for Ocean to wear. She was forced to turn around and not see Ocean dress

"Okay, you can turn back around!" Ocean said

Mariah turned around and whistled. "Wowie, what a cutie," She stood up from the bed and wrapped her arms around Ocean's waist. She pecked her lips. "Have fun and say hi to Robert for me," She said

"Thank you," Ocean said. She kissed her cheek. "What are you gonna be doing while I'm gone?" 

"I need to go grocery shopping," Mariah said. "And you never told me where you're going with Robert,"

"I'm going to some cafe and then we're gonna play some video games with Jon," Ocean said

"Say hi to Jon for me too," Mariah said

"Alright let me pack my bag really quick," Ocean said. Once she was let go, she walked over to her desk. She put in her wallet, Ipad, Apple pencil, cardigan just in cause it gets cold, her charger, and her spare switch, PS4, and Xbox controller, just incase

"Alright, I gotta go, see you soon," Mariah said. She kissed Ocean's cheek. "Bye!" She left Ocean's apartment

Ocean smiled and left her apartment, she headed to her car and drove off to the cafe she was meeting Robert at

TIME SKIP

2:00 pm

Robert sat down at a table, scrolling through Instagram. He was nervous to see Ocean. Ever since Ocean started dating Mariah, he tried to avoid her. When Ocean was still single, he couldn't control himself around her. He would try to be close to her in any way possible

Ocean saw Robert at a table. She smiled to herself and approached it. "Hey Rob," She said. She sat down at the seat across from him

"Hey, Ocean," Robert said. He pocketed his phone and sat up straight. "I haven't seen you in forever,"

"Well, I've been busy, with job applications and Mariah," Ocean said. She sighed dreamily when she said the name, 'Mariah'

Robert put on a fake smile when she said that. "Well, at least you are here now," He said. "I ordered you some coffee and a croissant," He wanted to do a nice thing for her since it wasn't entirely Ocean's fault that they haven't seen each other in a while

"Oh, I probably should have told you, I stopped drinking coffee for a while, I drink tea now," Ocean said. "And I partially gave up carbs. But a little croissant ever hurt anyone,"

"Shit, I'm so sorry Ocean, I'll tell the waiter to cancel that order," Robert apologized. He immediately got the order canceled and instead ordered tea

The two of them were outside so while Robert changed the order, Ocean gazed at the street and watched the cars pass by. Once she heard the footsteps of the waiter become quieter, she looked back over to Robert

The two of them gazed at each other with no words at all. Robert had his arm propped on the table and rested his cheek in his hands

"WAIT," Ocean said. She took out her Ipad and Apple Pencil. "Hold that pose," She took a picture of him on her phone and opened Procreate on her Ipad

"What why?" Robert asked

"I'm gonna draw you," Ocean said. She started to sketch him. "The lighting is great and the flowers in the background, amazing!" 

"O-oh, okay," Robert said. He held the pose for a bit before Ocean told him he can stop

"So, how are you and Jon? You know how I've been, but how have you've been?" Ocean asked. She continued drawing

"We've been good. Playing video games mostly. I made a new friend that I think you'd like," Robert said. He looked for the waiter that would be giving them their food. He tapped his finger on the table

"That's good. I'm proud of you. You're making friends!" Ocean said. She set down the Ipad. "See how it looks so far," She slid it over to him

Robert looked at it. It made him smile. "That's an amazing drawing so far," He said. He slides it back over to Ocean

"Thanks," Ocean said. She continued drawing. She tried to speak to him more but it just seems. AWKWARD

A waitress came up to them, tray in hand. "Good morning. Your last waiter went on their break, so I'm gonna be taking over for them," She placed a tea and croissant in front of Ocean and a coffee and omelet in front of Robert

Robert looked up at the waitress to thank them. "Lilith?" He asks

"Hey Robert," Lilith said. She put the tray under her arm

Ocean sat there, not touching her food. Just sitting there while Robert talked to Lilith

"Oh sorry. Ocean, this is Lilith. The friend I made," Robert said

Lilith looked at Ocean. "Hi Ocean, Robert talks about you pretty frequently," She said, to Robert's dismay

Ocean looked at Robert and laughed. "He does, interesting," She said. "It was nice meeting you, Lilith," 

"I gotta go, see you later," Lilith said. She then went off to take orders

"So, already moving on huh?" Ocean asked. She said that in a joking way but a part of her hurt to say that. She smiled anyway and air nudged him across the table

"What?" Robert said. His cheeks turned red. "No no no, she has a boyfriend. His name is Omar and he looks suspiciously a lot like younger me," He took a sip of his coffee

"Oh, I'm so sorry," Ocean said. She took a sip of her tea before going back to drawing. "I've been meaning to talk to you about, us, for a while you know," She tried to avoid looking at him in the eyes

"What about us though?" Robert asked. He gulped and hoped he didn't have to tell her that he wasn't over her at all. He started to eat his food

"I'm sorry if me dating Mariah caused us to drift apart. It is entirely my fault. After I started dating Mariah, it just seems like she took up so much of my time. Not in a bad way though. We've been staying over at each other's places, she helps with job applications, I've also been spending time with my parents to try and tell them I'm dating Mariah," Ocean could go on and on but if she did, it would start sounding like word vomit

Robert stopped her. "Hey, it's alright. I get it. When you fall in love, all you want to think about is that person. You want to spend all the time in the world with them," He said. He was speaking from the heart and about how he felt about Ocean. "And you feel like you need to apologize to the people you ignore on accident. But they're okay with it because ever since you've started hanging out with them, you've been happier. They support you and though some may think you're out of your mind for going for someone that might be out of your league,"

Ocean had set down her Ipad and looked at Robert. She realized that he was really talking about her. She was at a loss of words as he went on and on

Robert finished talking. He took a severely needed breath. "I'm sorry for rambling," He took Ocean's hands in his. "I'm trying to say, you don't need to apologize, go live your life. If Mariah makes you happy, go spend that time with her," He said

Ocean smiled. She was grateful to have a friend like him. "I'm happy with Mariah but, for now, let's go spend the day together. It's our day. Friendship day!" She said

Robert nodded. They finished their food, tipped the waitress, and left to go to Robert's house. They played video games with Jon and had lots of fun. At the end of the day, Robert posted the drawing of him on his Instagram with the comment:

"Went to lunch with Ocean and she wanted to draw the flowers but I got in the way #justkiddingsheisntthatmean #notawkwardatall #friendday"
