Chapter 11

Here's a new chapter of YMH! It's kind of a filler but I like it!

--

My eyes opened slowly and I yawned. I had no idea what time it was, but my body naturally woke me up. I squinted my eyes and looked at the clock that was sitting on the night stand. It was only three in the morning. Denny and I had only been asleep for a few hours. His body was now wrapped around me.

I didn't remember laying down last night. The last thing I remember was Denny's head in my lap. I must've gotten more comfortable before falling asleep. Denny's light snores interrupted my thoughts. One of his arms was locked tight around my waist and his legs were tangled with mine.

I slowly turned around in his arms trying now to disturb him. Once I turned around I smiled when I saw his face. He seemed quite relaxed and resting well, better than what he looked in the hospital. I slowly reached out and pushed some of his hair out of his face. He stirred slightly but kept his eyes closed.

I held my breath for a second hoping not to wake him up. His breath evened back out and I released mine. I snuggled down deeper in the covers and into his arms more. His arms tightened around me as I tucked myself under his chin. He shifted and his lips landed on my forehead where he left a soft kiss.

I instantly pulled back and was met by his tired eyes. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you," I said. He smiled tiredly and kissed my forehead again. "I woke up as soon as you turned around. I'm a light sleeper," he said. I snuggled into his chest more. "It's only three in the morning. We still have plenty of time to sleep," I said.

Denny chuckled. "Do you have to work tomorrow?" he asked. I instantly shook my head. "No, I only work part time. I'm off for the next few days," I said. He nodded and let his head rest against mine. "Then let's slee until our bodies let us and when we wake up we only get out of the bed for food and the bathroom," he said. I chuckled softly but nodded as I let his body warmth pull me back into deep sleep.

The next time I woke up, I could tell it was later in the day. The sun was shining through the curtains and warmed the bedroom. I stretched and felt the spot beside me finding that it was cold. I instantly sat up in bed in confusion. Denny wasn't in the bedroom. The title screen of the movie was still flashing on the T.V.

I pushed the blankets back and swung my legs over the bed. I checked the conjoining bathroom to find it empty as well. "I swear, Denny," I mumbled as I walked tiredly through the house. Where could he be? Light whistling heightened my senses and it directed me towards the kitchen.

There I found Denny standing over the stove making some breakfast or lunch. I wasn't sure what time it was to be honest. "Denny," I said as I leaned against the doorframe. He jumped and turned around with his hand on his heart. "Jesus! Are you trying to give a dying man a heart attack?" he asked trying to catch his breath.

I instantly felt guilty and made my way towards him. "Woah, hey, it's okay, just breathe. I didn't mean to scare you," I said as I wrapped my arms around him trying to get him to relax. His breath slowly evened out and I pulled back to look at him. "Better?" I asked and he nodded while leaning back against the counter.

"Now what were you doing?" I asked him as I looked around him to the stove. He sighed and ran a hand through his bed head. "I was trying to make breakfast for us and I was going to bring it to you in bed," he said. I shook my head and gently pushed him back towards the bedroom. This stubborn man.

"You need to be resting. Go back to bed, I'll finish breakfast and bring it to you," I said. Denny sighed but nodded as he started dragging his feet back towards the bedroom. I turned to the stove to see that he was working on making pancakes and some eggs. I chuckled and shook my head.

Here he was in the hospital for two weeks, finally gets out, is meant to be resting, and he wants to make me  breakfast in bed. I quickly finished breakfast and looked at the clock. It was almost noon so I guess it was more of a brunch. I plated the food and put it on a T.V. tray and walked towards the bedroom.

When I walked in, Denny wasn't laying in bed. I sighed and placed the T.V. tray down on the bed. I placed my hands on my hips. "Denny Duquette, where are you?" I asked out loud. This man was getting under my skin not wanting to rest. "Right here," this time I jumped as arms wrapped around me.

He smelled like manly soap as I breathed in deeply. I turned around in his arms to find his hair was slightly damp. "You should've told me you were taking a shower. You had me worried," I said. He frowned and bent down to kiss my nose. "I'm sorry, I felt gross. Plus, I wanted to brush my teeth," he said.

"Why?" I asked him knowing full well that the orange juice I just poured him wouldn't taste good with freshly brushed teeth. Suddenly he dipped me backwards and his lips smashed on mine. I squeaked against his lips before relaxing into the kiss and wrapping my arms around his neck to help hold myself up.

Denny pulled me back up, but didn't pull out of the kiss. He pushed me back towards the bed when I stopped and pulled back. "Breakfast," I whispered as I dropped my arms from around his neck. Denny sighed. "That would've been a terrible mess to clean up," he said as he released his arms from around me.

He went around to his side of the bed and crawled back under the covers. I grabbed the T.V. tray and placed it over his lap before opening his bed side table. I was intantly met by several bottles of pills. I bit my lip and pulled out the pill separator. "How'd you know those were in there?" he asked me while biting into a pancake.

I shrugged and dumped out the right pills in my hand. "I heard you rummaging in here last night before I came to bed so I assumed that's where they were," I said as I handed him the pills along with the orange juice I poured him. I watched as he put all the pills in his mouth at once before taking a huge gulp of orange juice.

"What do you take all of those pills for?" I asked him. He swallowed hard before looking up at me and shrugging. "Quite honestly I don't know what they're all for, I just know that they're keeping me alive," he said. I felt a pull at my heart strings. He needed to know what half of those pills were for.

I walked around to my side of the bed and sat down. I leaned back against the headboard and pulled the covers over my lap. "You're not going to eat?" he asked me as I grabbed my orange juice off of the tray. I shook my head. "I've never really been a breakfast person," I said while taking a sip of my orange juice.

A forkful of pancake was stuck in my face. I waved it off, but Denny kept the pancake in my face. "I won't take no for an answer," he said. I sighed and took the pancake off the fork. I chewed slowly. It was good, but I really wasn't a breakfast person. I took another sip of my orange juice.

"Compliments to the chef," I said. Denny chuckled. "And his sous chef," he said as he took another bite of his pancake. I drank half of my orange juice before sitting the glass on the bed side table. Denny finished the rest of his food before pushing the tray back and leaning against the head board beside me.

I got out of the bed and grabbed the T.V. tray with empty dishes. "I'll be right back," I told him before making my way through the house and back to the kitchen. I quickly did all of the breakfast dishes before heading back to the bedroom to find Denny laying down in the bed with his arms behind his head.

I crawled back in the bed with him and snuggled into his side. One arm came down and around my waist as I placed one hand on his chest. His hand reached up and started running through my hair and I closed my eyes. If he kept that up, he was going to lull me back into another sleep. I yawned softly.

"Are we really going to stay in bed all day?" I asked him. His chuckles vibrated his chest and echoed in my head. "Well, what are we gonna do? We can't really go ride rollercoasters or run a marathon," he said. There was a hint of sarcasm in his voice. I sat up to look at him. His eyes looked tired.

"Well, no. But you can still go outside. Sit on your porch, enjoy the weather," I said. He shook his head. "The rain? What's to enjoy about that?" he asked. I sighed and laid my head back down on his chest. I obviously wasn't going to win this conversation. Denny squeezed me affectionately and placed a kiss on my forehead.

"I'm sorry, darling. I just hate that I can't really do much and that's not fair to you," he said. I frowned but didn't sit back up. "I don't want to go outside just yet. I'm afraid if I do all the neighbors will feel the need to make a visit and right now I just want to spend time with you," he said kissing my forehead again.

"Okay," I breathed as I relaxed into his chest. Denny grabbed the remote to the T.V. and started flipping through the channels looking for something to watch. If he took a nap, I would probably get up and find something to do. I didn't know how long I could lay in bed, even if it was in Denny's arms.
