After breaking up with Donna Ludwig because her father kept them apart, singer Ritchie Valens started dating Emily Keane.

On a fateful event Ritchie dies tragically in a plane crash during his Winter Dance Party. Emily is devastated. No one knew they were dating because she wanted things kept secret .

Emily didn't want to be famous. Ritchie understood that about her. But it hurts when everyone was fussing over poor Donna. Soon Emily is discovered at the funeral. News spreads fast about Emily and Ritchie.

Everyone wants to know more about them and about Emily. Singer, actor, Ricky Nelson takes an interest in Emily. Though she is not over Ritchie the two soon find they have feelings for each other.
