Talking Might Be Overrated

"Just put it there..." Jane pointed to the far corner and Hannah sat down the box she just signed for, waving at the delivery guy.

"Do you want a sandwich for lunch? I can get them now?" Hannah offered and Jane nodded.

"Turkey and bacon, on rye..." Jane said, rushing to reach the phone in the back office as it started ringing relentlessly.

Hannah grabbed her purse before running towards the door, failing to see where she was going she bumped into a guy on her way out.

"I'm sorry" she uttered, before looking up, realizing who it was.

It was Cam.

"Hannah...I need to talk to you" he said in a low hoarse voice.

"We have nothing to talk about Cameron" she said and walked past him quickly walking down the street, zigzagging through the crowd. Lunch time was always crowded in NY. She was able to duck him...or so she thought.

She felt his hand on her arm, but she tore herself loose.

"Let go of me!" She screamed with a loud shriek, making bypassers look at them and Cam immediately let go of her arm, and she stormed off.

But he followed her into the coffee shop.

"Hannah...I mean it, I really need to talk to you. I tried calling you, but you blocked me?" He sounded sad, but she didn't care.

"What did you expect Cam, you humiliated me, why did you do that?" She was angry and she didn't care that people were looking at them.

"I never led you on, did I? I told you who I am...I never lied!" Now he was screaming too.

"I can't live like that Cam. It's killing me, okay? So please just leave me alone, go find someone new, go be with your new fling!" She finally mustered up the courage to tell him off. She didn't feel like giving in! No matter how hot Cam was in his grey suit and leather shoes, she didn't care. Not even his blond, soft stylish curls were going to sway her this time, she didn't care, he wasn't going to persuade her anymore!

"Can you just let me talk, let me explain Hannah" he said in a softer tone.

But she shook her head.

"No Cam...I'm done. I'm done listening to you. I'm doing having casual sex with you. I'm done talking to you. I'm over you, okay...so please just leave me alone! Can you do that, or is it too hard for you? Just tell people you cut me loose, that's fine...you won. You won me over once, you got me, but I'm not in anymore, go play with someone else. This isn't fun anymore!" She stopped talking as she realized he had gone all quiet.

"Are you done?" He asked her.

She nodded.

"Have a nice life Hannah" he said, turning around walking calmly out the door, leaving her to deal with all the looks lingering on her.

But she didn't care, she was too worked up to care.

She bought the sandwiches and walked back to the gallery, convinced she'd seen the last of Cameron Tate!

After work she decided to go to the park and sit on a bench, just looking at the different people. Some people were running, someone was walking their dog...kids were playing on the playground, laughing, crying, fighting.

It made her smile.

She loved kids. At one point she even thought about becoming a teacher, but she chose the arts instead, figuring one day she'd be a mom herself.

Now she was no longer that sure.

She was pushing 30...in a couple of years she'd hit the big 3.0!

Following her plan was impossible, the plan she had made for her and Justin, they'd be pregnant by now, but that didn t happen.

Maybe she wasn't meant to be a mom after all? Even thinking that could be an option, made her sad.

Teary-eyed.

"Are you okay miss?" A voice next to her said, seemingly concerned.

She looked to the side.

It was a guy, around her age?

"I'm fine...this is so embarrassing" she was cupping her face with her hands to shield herself from his prying, yet mild eyes.

"Don't be embarrassed, are you okay?" He asked her sincerely.

"I will be...I didn't mean to cry on a public bench next to some stranger" she said.

He smiled and extended his hand to her.

"I'm Noah...you know my name now, so I'm not a stranger anymore" he smiled at her, not the fake forced kind...he looked sweet and his smile was genuine.

"I'm Hannah, nice to meet you Noah" she answered him with a freeing smile.

He held on to her hand for a while, and they just started talking.

It felt very natural.

Who knew talking could be this easy?
