Sleepwalker
She was unable to sleep.
She just kept looking at Cameron. Even in the dark, he looked amazing! He even looked perfect sleeping...she felt her toes curl, thinking about how she looked while she was sleeping? Possible drooler-alert, maybe she even farted in her sleep?? The thought of doing that in front of Cameron made her cringe.
In the beginning she couldn't care less about what Cameron thought of her, why was she suddenly feeling so self conscious? This was something so unfamiliar to her...Justin started out as her friend, she was comfortable with him, even as they started dating.
She hadn't felt anything remotely close to this since she was in High School, remembering how insecure she felt every time Chase London passed her in the hall. He was this gorgeous football player, all the girls pined for him, she did it secretly of course!
She wasn't very popular in school, the overachievers never are? She focused mostly on her studies, but that didn't mean she wasn't able to look at boys...she just never got invited to any of the cool parties. She wasn't friendless, she wasn't bullied or anything like that, she just didn't make a huge impression, like Jen did. Even back then she was so popular and somehow Hannah always took the backseat to her?
Jen even dated Chase London for a while, another reason why Hannah would have never admitted to finding Chase even the slightest bit interesting!
She could never compete with Jen...not even as adults. Justin chose Jen over her, that spoke volumes, right?
Maybe Cameron was Hannah's Chase??
A chance for redemption?
Maybe. Maybe she liked being with Cameron because he was the epitome of a cool guy, THE popular guy...someone desirable.
He chose her.
Who cared if she needed to stray away from her principles to be with him? It was well worth it, here she was in Paris, in his arms...it was just fun, right?
She had trouble sleeping, the restlessness still lingered, following her like a stubborn shadow, constantly watching over her for some reason.
What did Cameron mean, when he said: "That's the trouble"...the trouble being the fact, that she liked him? Was he scared she was getting too invested?
She wasn't, was she?
She poked him, gently.
It woke him up instantly.
He opened his eyes, but he looked sleepy and somewhat disorientated. His eyes squinting slightly.
"Is something wrong?" He looked concerned.
"I'm not sure" she started hesitantly.
"What do you mean?" He said, still half asleep.
"I was just wondering...what did you mean by...the thing you said earlier?" She sat up.
"You got to be more specific" he said, now he looked awake. Alert.
"Well...you sort of said...that's the trouble...you know...when I told you, that I like you..." she sighed heavily.
"Oh...that...you caught that, huh?" He said regretfully.
"What did you mean by that?" She wondered, although she had a pretty good idea. She just wondered if he had the guts to be honest with her.
"Hannah...I like you...when I first met you, I thought you had guts...I liked it. But we are just different, I guess. This is a casual thing for me, I have no intention to be tied down, by anyone! My parents want me to marry a walking trust fund, but I have no desire to do that, I want to be free, you know...that's just who I am. I told you...I wasn't lying. Can you handle that?" He looked serious all of a sudden.
All she got from that stream of words, was: I don't want to marry a walking trust fund!
She figured he needed someone like her, someone completely different? Once you meet the love of your life, you want to be tied down, right? It's a natural impulse to settle down and start a family. Cam would figure that out eventually.
She wanted to spend this time with him trying to convince him otherwise, she was exactly what he needed!
Ignoring the fact that she was now behaving like one of the women, she deliberately made fun of in the beginning. The type of woman who wanted to change him, didn't fluster her.
Although it wasn't really trying to change him per say? It was more like...making him realize, who he really was, who he truly wanted to be, right?
That was completely different??
She looked at him.
HE WAS SLEEPING.
Was she sleepwalking? Dreaming?"
She pinched herself.
Oh no...she was wide awake.
Regretfully!
