||Chapter 19||

"Um... Damon...!" I shouted from my bedroom.
"Yes?" He answered.
"I don't think I look good in this..."

"What are you talking about? Let me see."
"Wait! Don't come in! I'll be out in a second." I shouted nervously.

The dress actually looked good on me, it's me that didn't look good on the dress.
I went to a hairdresser and she pinned my hair in such a beautiful bun I was left speechless.
It was a little messy, curls pinned everywhere.

It was messy, yet neatly done. There were also those long curls that were laying on my back.
Now, a small curl escaped my bun and was now hanging on one side of my face.

I tried to pin in somewhere but knowing me I would ruin the whole hairstyle.
We even had stylists coming to our penthouse, they measured us and one lady gave me a 'corset' under my dress. She laced it so tightly I have trouble breathing.

I wonder how Damon looks...
I sighed nervously and walked out of my room. Damon was standing with his back to me until he heard the door close behind me.
He turned around slowly and my mouth dropped open.

He was wearing clearly an expensive, pitch black suit with a perfectly white shirt underneath. He looked so handsome my knees felt weak. My breathing was unsteady and my heart skipped a beat. His hair were perfectly slicked back with the perfect amount of gel and his eyes, god. I could smell from there his addictive and legs melting cologne.

When he met my eyes I thought I was gonna faint. I could only imagine how his perfect abs moved inside that shirt.

His bow tie was also pitch black, neatly done. Everything he did or wore, seemed like perfection. He even moved with this attractive confidence and I can only imagine how many girls would die for him, especially if he's a billionaire. This guy was every girl's dream.
The only problem was that he's harsh, cold, ruthless and sadistic.

And then there was me. I was nervously standing with a curl across my face, my shoulders bare and my breathing so unsteady I was about to faint.

Damon walked up to me and we stared at each other. His presence made me so nervous it was like the first time I realized I was standing in front of Damon Queen, the billionaire.

"You look wonderful." He said with his cold voice.
"Thanks, I guess. You don't look so bad yourself." I mumbled out, my voice shaking.

"Just one more thing." He grabbed me by my
slim waist and turned me around, making me face a huge mirror in front of us.

Maybe I don't look that bad after all...
I actually looked pretty. Even the traitor curl looked like it was meant to be there and my red matte lips looked quite lovely.
The dress smelled like roses, and so did the perfume I used.

Damon stood behind me and took something out.
It was a necklace. He put it around my neck and I gasped.
It was the most beautiful necklace I have ever seen.

"Try not to lose it. I payed a lot for these diamonds." My mouth dropped open.
"They're diamonds?!" I said excitedly.
He just nodded.

He pinned it carefully at the back of my neck and then put his hands around my waist. He rested his face on my shoulder and we just stood there, staring in the mirror.
"Why? Why did you bought me all this?" I asked confused.

"You are my acquaintance tonight. You represent me. I cannot allow you looking anything less than perfect."

"And? Did I reach your standards tonight?"
I asked not sure if I wanted to hear the answer.
"You reached beyond it, darling."

When we exited the building, a luxurious black limousine was waiting for us.
My breathing wasn't doing very well at that moment and I grabbed Damon's arm to help myself keep balance on my very high heels.
He looked at me and I knew his expression asked if I'm alright.

"I'm fine. It's just the corset." I said and he just nodded.
We entered the limousine and the insides looked amazing. Just amazing and luxurious.
"Drink it." Damon ordered as he gave me a tall glass with hell knows what.
"What is it?" I asked nervously as I took the glass.
"Just champagne. Drink up." He sounded quite annoyed that he had to repeat himself so the sparkling and weirdly tasting liquid went down my throat.

I gave him the glass back and he smirked in satisfaction.

When we finally arrived, there were dozens of photographers and paparazzi.
I wanted to protest and tell him I want to go home, but then the doors opened and I had to step out.

"Damon...." I said nervously but then sighed in relief when he hooked my arm with his.
The security made the path clear of the dozens of people and we started walking.
"Smile." Damon ordered silently.

I immediately listened to him and my face brightened up with a bright smile.
I held onto his arm tightly and firmly.
But somehow, I managed to relax and slow my breathing.
Thanks to that champagne Damon gave me.

People were shouting questions about me, who am I and what is my relationship with Mr. Queen. We ignored them all as we rushed past them.

When we reached the door to the big, white mansion, we turned around to get one last picture together.
I smiled widely but I felt Damon's stare on me.
Then, we turned around and the big doors opened, welcoming us in.

"Why are we the only ones coming? Are we early?" I asked silently.
"No, darling, we're one hour late."
"What?! You didn't even tell me!"
"I never come on time for these time wasting events."

I didn't need to know more.
The house was breathtaking. Lots of art and paintings. The ceiling was very high and there were angels painted on each edge.
While I was admiring the house, Damon didn't seem to show the slightest bit of interest in his surroundings.

We walked to the ball room and I couldn't believe my eyes.
So many famous people were there, all drinking and chattering.
As we walked down the stairs, the man announced loudly our arrival,
"Mr. Damon Queen and Natalie Sene, his lady in red."
A big smile plastered on my lips,
"His lady in red, hm?" I asked curiously and he just smirked.
As I looked down again, no one was drinking or chattering. Everyone and I mean, everyone, was staring right at as in disbelief and curiosity.

"Damon why are they all-"
"I told you I never come to these time wasting events. And even if I did, never have I ever brought a lady with me."

As we reached the bottom of the stairs, people began to make their way towards us. Everyone wanted to introduce themselves and their daughters. After a while of Damon ignoring every single one of them, most of them gave up their hope.
We reached the dance floor and Damon seemed to have noticed someone he was looking for.

"Dance with me." He asked as he held out his hand. I quickly grabbed it and we went off to dance.
Damon placed his hands on my waist and I wrapped mine around his neck.

People around us started to gossip and stared. He didn't look at me even once throughout the whole dance. He just looked at that someone on the other side of the dance floor.
As soon as the dance finished, he quickly murmured a small, "excuse me." And he walked off before I could say anything.

He left me. He abandoned me.
I quickly looked around not knowing what to do or where to go.

I noticed tables with snacks. I headed there.
After stuffing myself with 25 different kinds of chocolate, I looked around to see if Damon was anywhere in sight. And just like every time I looked, he wasn't.

Okay, I get it. He came here only to do business. That's fine with me but don't fucking leave me alone in the middle of a freaking dance floor!

I sighed in annoyance.
He was always the one I was looking for, and I was looking for him constantly. I bet he forgot I exist.

Jerk.

I turned around a little too quickly and bumped into an another man. He was also handsome, raven flipped back hair and amazingly light, blue eyes.

He looked as if he knew I'd bump into him and was now looking at me with a huge grin.
"I-I'm sorry." I mumbled as I tried to walk past him but he grabbed my arm and pulled me quite close to him.

"It's okay, so you're the mysterious lady in red, but from what I can tell, it doesn't look like you're his." He smiled showing all his straight, white teeth and looking around.

"Excuse me?" I said with annoyance.
"My apologies, Miss Sene. Would you like to dance with me?" He extended his hand and I considered his suggestion.

It's not like you have anything better to do..
I quickly nodded and took his hand.
We walked onto the dance floor and started dancing.

"I wonder why such a beautiful lady like you was left alone, can you enlighten me, Miss Sene?"
"I wasn't alone, Mr. Queen just excused himself, Mister...?"
"Nackelmore. Oliver Nackelmore."

God these names are funny...
"Yes, Mr. Nackelmore. Damon simply had something to do."
"Oh is that so, Miss Sene? May I know when he 'excused' himself?"

He took my silence as a long time ago and began to laugh. His grip on my waist was tighter than my corset. I was really struggling to breathe, and I felt like he was causing it on purpose.
"Miss Sene, you look a little pale. Would you like me to escort you outside so you can get some fresh air?"

"It's not needed. I can walk myself." I stared and tried to walk away but he grabbed my arm again and pulled me back.

"I insist." There was something in his voice that told me to be on his good side so I just nodded.

He didn't lead me to the front garden, where most people were, but to the back garden, which I heard, had beautiful roses in it.
When we were about to walk out, my longs aching for fresh air, a goddamn Damon stood in our way.

He finally noticed me and his eyes went slowly from me to Mr. Nackelmore and back around. He looked very displeased.
What the hell...
