Chapter 1: Just This Once
Bill stood in the middle of the clearing, hands on his hips with a large proud smile across his face. He had dreamed on the day he'd be able to practice his magic. Even better, learn to control and master it for his very own gain.
Now today was the day, and Bill was going to make sure they enjoyed it after all.
While Bill flattered at the idea, Will stood behind him, cowarding like the small paranoid demon he was.
"Bill.."
"Relax bro, we'll be fine! We're finally going to learn magic! Isn't that exciting?!" Bill exclaimed.
Will just shook his head, glancing around the area before nervously staring back at Bill.
"This is a very bad idea, Bill. And that's saying something."
Bill rolled his eyes. "I love you Will, but don't be such a-"
"Not. Another. Word." Will warned.
"Imbecile," Bill grinned cleverly while Will huffed in frustration. "Sorry Bluenete didn't mean to offend you. C'mon, let's just give it a shot! No harm in that right?" Bill questioned, clasping his hand in Wills.
Will looks away for a moment before smiling lightly at him. "Right.."
"Don't worry about it. I'll go first then I'll show you the ropes." Bill explained.
Will gave a slow nod before stepping back a ways, making sure his brother got all the room he needs.
Bill took in a large breath, clasping his hands together as if he was to make a wish. He hoped it worked that way. Bill closed his eyes, feeling the air around him, the clouds, the grass, the sky.
As if on cue, leaves and twigs started to levitate, a white aura surrounding them like a gust of air.
Will gasped, his eyes widening in excitement. It really worked! Will couldn't believe his eyes! It's almost like it was too good to be true..
Unless..
"Now what do you think you're doing?" The white shape known as their father, Pi-Mo, questioned sternly. Pi-Mo flicked his hand, sending the objects back to the ground.
Bill huffed in frustration, kicking his feet in the dirt.
"I was doing magic!"
"Oh really?" Pi-Mo questioned, a clever smile on his pale face.
"It wasn't his fault. I wanted to learn magic.." Will protests.
Bill grit his teeth, glaring at Will. "Now that's not true! You were complaining the whole time about how scared you were if we exploded or something!" Bill spat.
"Boys, I don't want to hear it. Come on, let's get back home and you could scream all you want." Pi-Mo states, snapping his fingers.
They were suddenly teleported to the Cipher Mansion, deep in the mindscape. Pi-Mo gave Will a gentle pat to the head before sitting down on the couch. Bill and Will stood beside him, ashamed and disappointed.
"Mind explaining why you two were practicing extremely dangerous magic?" Pi-Mo asked sternly.
"We wanted to learn some cool magic obviously! It's so boring here!" Bill pouts, crossing his arms.
"Is that all?" Pi-Mo asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes." Bill grumbled.
Will took Bill's hand in his, giving him a small smile. Bill looked at his brother, returning the same smile back.
"Go to your rooms. We can talk tomorrow. It's late already, but don't think you're out of this." Pi-Mo says.
"Sorry, Pi-Mo we will go right away!" Will called, dragging Bill up to their room.
Will sat down on his warm bed, wrapping himself in his baby blue blankets. On the other hand, Bill's bed was shining with warm colors. It was just as warm as his personality and nothing less. Bill sat on his bed across from Will, shoving his pillow in his face.
"I- HATE- THIS!" Bill screamed in the pillow.
Once Bill turned a deep red in color, Will knew that Bill was extremely angry. He hated when Bill did this. However, it wasn't wrong that Bill expressed emotions. Will knew enough that emotions were important. So, Will made a system.
"Bill.." Will began, sitting beside Bill and patting his back reassuringly.
"Ugh! This isn't fair Will!" Bill complained. "We aren't little anymore. We can handle magic! It's just a matter of time!"
"Shh..calm down. It's okay, Bill, we'll grow into our special abilities sooner than later." Will soothed softly.
"Easy for you to say! Pi-Mo is training you already when it comes to making stuff move! Remember that time with the cereal?!" Bill hissed.
Will looked away, laughing sheepishly. "That was a complete accident.."
Bill scoffed, pulling his knees up and burying his head in his body. Will hesitanted, but decided to continue helping for the sake of his brother.
"So? You're way older than me! And, you're more confident than me! You can take a hit..I- I look up to you Bill..you're amazing." Will confessed.
Bill pulled his head up, his blue brother sniffling and quickly trying to wipe tears out of his eyes. Bill turned and gave his brother a hug, letting Will cry into his arms. "Hey hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry. I shouldn't of taken it out on you. Forgive me?" Bill asks.
Will thought for a moment, looking up at Bill cleverly.
"How about...no." Will snickered playfully.
"No?" Bill asked, grinning from ear to ear. "How about..yes!" Bill exclaimed, tackling Will in a tickle fight.
"PFFff! AH Bill! Wait Wait!" Will sputtered, giggling and laughing in-between. "Okay! Okay! I'm sorry I forgive you!" Will laughed, tears in the corners of his eyes.
"Good, you little jerk!" Bill exclaimed, pulling away from his brother.
Will smiled brightly as the door opened. Pi-Mo stood there with his hands placed behind his back.
"You don't suppose you could grab some dinner could you? I made your favorites." Pi-Mo says warmly, an apron accompanying his body.
Will nodded and stood up. As he was about to leave, he looked back at Bill who was still sitting on the bed. "You coming?"
"Nah, I'm not hungry. Besides, the more food the better. You need to gain some weight." Bill states.
"That doesnt matter, weirdo..just- just come down soon."
"Alright alright."
As he went downstairs, he heard Pi-Mo and his uncle talking in the dining room. He peeked behind the wall, to find them already sitting at the table, chatting with wine glasses in their hands.
"So how's Will? I heard he's getting better isn't he?" Tad asked.
Pi-Mo returned a nod, taking a sip of wine. "He's learning. Better than I was at his age. I'm sure he'd make a wonderful apprentice."
Apprentice?
"I suppose he's got great potential. It'll be great to take him places, get to know him and such. What about Bill?"
"Same as always. I can keep him here until Will is in his adult years. He can be of use to Bill then. Otherwise, he's out of my hands."
Will teared up in fear. Pi-Mo was willing to take him away from Bill? But they've been siblings forever!
Will decided to tell Bill the truth, stumbling back as quietly as he could. He's was going up the stairs before stepping on one of Bill's candy wrappers he'd snuck in a few days before.
Pi-Mo and Tad perked up, teleporting to Will with a relieved look.
"I heard everything. Why would you want to take us apart?" Will whimpered.
"Will, you are capable of so many things. We just want what's best for you-" Tad began.
"And what about Bill?! He deserves to go! We're siblings!"
"Me and Pi-Mo were close siblings like you two. When I left, I made sure to visit him all the time." Tad explained.
"You can't take us away from each other! I don't want to go!" Will cried, pushing past the adults and running back upstairs.
"Should I?"
"It's alright, I think it would be better coming from me. But for now, let's just let him rest it through before talking to them. William will get to his senses eventually." Pi-Mo finished.
Tad sighed, looking at Pi-Mo in disappointment. "You're lying to him."
"Will won't go if he knows he can't visit Bill."
"Pi-Mo, he will miss him! Like how I missed!-"
"I didn't care that you left." Pi-Mo adjusted his suit before glancing Tad up and down. "You toughened up and so did I." Before walking off into the kitchen. Tad stood there alone, eyes turning into slits.
"No..you just turned cold."
