~Madison

Another day, another headache. My dad yelling at me last night gave me a huge migraine, and an even bigger one to wake up to. I'm wearing another outfit Cameron bought me. I could get used to this sense of style, but I'll totally need to get a job to pay him back.

It seems that as days go by the more people gossiped about me in school. What was there to gossip about anyway? I'm just interviewing him for the paper and hanging out with him after school and Friday night; which reminds me, I should add this to my calendar, so I know exactly what to wear. Something warm, but still attractive-looking. It is still winter.
While added the reminder to the calendar in my locker, I could feel someone breathing over my shoulder. It was Brooklynn.

"What do you want Brooklynn?"

"I just couldn't help but see that you and Cameron are hanging out Friday night?"

"Yeah, we are. What's it to ya?"

"Well, think about it, when is the last time you've heard anything going around the school about Cameron going out with a girl, without his guys there, but just a girl?"

"Well, not since eighth grade and when you guys went to Homecoming."

"Exactly, wanna know why you haven't heard any rumors? It's because Cameron isn't easy with girls. I heard his longer relationship lasted four days. He's a sweetheart, but when it comes to relationships, he doesn't put in the effort. He'll make you feel like you're the only person in the world, and then later on treat you like you're one of the guys, blowing you off, farting on you, and all those other lame stuff." I really wanted to believe her. It's crazy how our school revolves around rumors, rumors determined everything.

"Well Brooklynn, you may be right, but we're just going out as friends."

"Believe me or don't Walters, but you know I'm right."

In first period, Cameron past me a note which I thought was just so adorable. Before you knew it, we were passing each other notes even though we were sitting right next to each other. He apologized for last night and can't wait for me to hang out with him and his friends. Neither could I. I was actually nervous. I've never hung out with them before. I hope they don't think I stand out too badly.

Cameron then told me that I looked nice today and that I shouldn't worry about his friends, they're not to judgmental, except for Nash. He has his moments. Before I could answer his next note that was about what happened earlier with Brooklynn, we got busted.

"Madison and Cameron! Is there anything you want to share with the class?" Mr. Gilbert shouted to us. Busted.

"Come up to the class and read it to us all." Brooklynn's face lit up hearing those words from Mr. Gilbert.
We walked up to the class and before Cam could start, the bell rung.

"Save by the bell! Later Gilbert!" Cameron said grabbing my hand as we walked out the class.

"I'll see you at lunch Mads."

"Okay. Bye." All the girls that was near us saw as me and Cameron hugged goodbye. I wasn't someone who liked attention or the spotlight, but this really was something I could get used to.

"Gavin, here's the article. Do you mind proofreading it?" asking Gavin to proofread it even though I did already four times really was pointless, but he liked when we asked him to proofread, it showed that we worked hard on it, and wants his opinion on it.

"Madison, this is really good, this might be one of the best articles of the school year!" Gavin said reading my article.

I can't wait to tell Cam the news. He'll be so proud of me.

"Cameron!" I said stopping him in the hallway to give him a hug. "Gavin said that our article may be the best on we've had all year! Can you believe that?"

"Mads, that's great news! I'm so proud of you!"

"So, wanna sit with us at lunch again? I'm sure the guys will love to have you."

"Yeah, I'd love too!" I said as he adjusted his arm to my shoulder as we walked to the cafeteria.

When Cam and I walked into the lunch line, so many people backed away, to let us cut in front of them. It was sweet of them, but I don't need special treatment. But I took it anyway.

"Hey guys!" I said greeting the guys at the lunch table.

"Oh great." Nash mumbled under his breath sarcastically.

"Well gee, what ruined your morning?" Carter ask Nash curiously.

"Not a what, but a who." It was pretty obvious he was talking about me. But I tried to ignore it.

"So Madison, we look forward to beating your ass at Nash's house." Matt said deviously

"What?" I said shocked and a little scared.

"He means in the video game after school. We play very viciously. Whether you're a girl or not, we're not going easy." Cameron said trying to break it down for me.

"Well, okay. It should be fun."

"Mads, we don't play for fun, we play to WIN!" Matt said shouting in my face. I think I tasted a bit of that shouting on my lower lip.

After school I had to get my books from my locker. I know Cam and his friends were waiting for me outside so I had I be as quick as I could. But my friends from the math club stopped me along the way

"Madison, we have some news for you, and you may not like it, but that's how life works." Why did they sound so serious? What could be so bad?

"What's going on?" I didn't realize how mean I sounded, but I don't think she noticed.

"Well, we've decided that you're officially out of the club."

"What? How could this be?"

"You've missed so many sessions just to hang with the populars and you've even changed the way you look. We miss the old Madison. You've given this club zero effort since that day you bumped into Cameron-you even missed yesterday's meeting, and the study-session at lunch today. Because popularity is rubbing off on you, we think it'd be best if you left."

"Guys are you serious? You know I've been interviewing Cameron for the paper, and so what if we've been hanging out, and that I missed two meetings, big deal?"

"It is a big deal. Before, you were so excited to be in this club, you were like this club's secret charm. But we have the Academic Decathlon coming up, and we don't need you slacking."

"You guys are overreacting, it's only been two days."

"A lot can happen in two days Madison." As much as I was upset that I was officially kicked out the club, they were right. A lot can happen in two days.
