Percy

"Hey, mom?"

"Yes, honey?"

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Of course, Percy. What is it?"

Look, I know I promised everything would be okay with Annabeth, but I wasn't really all thta sure.

I mean, Athena's a goddess. The goddess of freaking wisdom!

What could I, a mere sixteen-year-old do to her?

I know I sound ridiculous. I beat a Titan-the king of Titans- and I couldn't even stand up to my girlfriend's mother. That's sad.

My mom stroked my hair, bringing me out of my thoughts.

"What's wrong, baby?" she asked.

I sighed, leaning into her warm hand that was now cupping my cheek.

"Have you ever had a problem with someone much more powerful than you? Someone who, if you angered, could easily... hurt you and your loved ones?"

Mom sat in the chair next to me.

"Oh sweetie, does this have anything to do with the gods?" she asked.

She wrapped her arms around me and I sank into her embrace.

"Annabeth said that Athena threatened to do something... bad to us if we didn't, you know, break up." I explained.

I loved Annabeth so much, if was hard to even think of not being with her.

Tears stung the back of my eyelids.

"I told her everything would be alright, but now I don't know." I added quietly.

"What so you want to do? Break up with Annabeth so you two can be safe? Or stay with her and be in danger? There's a consequence for everything." she said.

I furrowed my brows and she smiled, tousling my hair.

"You'll do the right thing." she murmured as she kissed my forehead and left.

I stared after her for a while, thinking. She was right. There was a consequence to everything.

So, to answer your unsaid question; yes, I know what to do.

Was that any good?
