Chapter Three//No Bed Beneath My Hands
*Listen to "Left Out" by Gnash for this chapter😘
It had been three days since I had last seen Travis. Well, at least since I had spoke to him. I had been avoiding him like the plague. He made me nervous. Almost threatened. Only because of the six words he had said—"Oh Irene, I love that girl..."
It had been six years since he had last talked to me before 2 weeks ago. 2,190 days since I had spoke to him. 3,153,600 minutes. 182,217,600 seconds. I had seen him for five days. And he thinks he loves me?
It freaked me out. Maybe it would be easier to accept it if he wasn't so much different than he was six years ago. He wasn't that cute, shy boy that he was in high school anymore. He was this sexy, flirty man. Okay, maybe not so much of a man, but he's sexy. His hair falls over his forehead in such a effortlessly flawless—wait what?!
No, I don't like him. I can't afford that. Not now. I shake my head and let a groan out. I hear a car door slam outside my house and I glance over through my window. Dante, Travis, and Aaron were getting out. Travis's eyes flicker up towards my window and as soon as our eyes connect, he smirks. I burst backwards away from the window, my cheeks heating up. I move myself backwards in a crab-walk. Suddenly, I feel no bed beneath my hands.
I tumble down, slamming my head against the oak wood flooring. I let a yelp out as I cradle my head. I barely hear a pair of feet run up the stairs and burst through my door as my head throbs, making hearing hard. "Katelyn!" Travis's voice cries out. I internally scold myself. Of course he'd come up.
"Oh my Irene, are you okay?!" He slides onto his knees as he lightly touches the back of my head. With his other hand he touches my cheek. My eyes burst open and I sit up. My cheeks glow pink and I get up. I wasn't going to let him baby me like that. "I-I'm perfectly fine!" My voice cracks. Travis gets up and stands a little too close to me.
"You sure?" He asks, lifting his hand up and grabbing my cheek. I punch him in the arm. "I'm fine." I laugh at him. He lets his breath out while grabbing his bicep. "Good to know." He breathes heavily, his voice extremely high pitched. I laugh at him, but stop quickly due to the sharp pain laughing caused me. I quickly rush downstairs and see Dante and Aphmau laughing.
Aphmau stops laughing when she sees me. "Katelyn, are you okay? We heard a bang when you were upstairs and Travis went up to check on you!" Aphmau coos, running over to me and hugging me. I laugh and hug her back. "I'm fine." I laugh. She looks up at me, at stares at my face for a second or two. "Are you sure you don't have a fever?" She asks. "Nah, she's alright. She just had a minor TFA—Travis-Feelings-Attack." Travis's smirk is clear through his voice. Aphmau shakes her head. "I don't think so, her cheeks just got bright red—"
"I'm fine!" I cry out, cutting Aphmau off quickly. I would never live it down if Travis knew I blushed when he said that. But I was too late. "Oh? Was my dear Katelyn blushing?" He purrs. I turn around the face him. He's staring at me, a smirk across his mouth. His legs are crossed nonchalantly, as well as his arms. "No I was not!" I puff, crossing my arms. "You sure about that, blueberry?" He asks. I feel my cheeks grow even redder. "Don't call me—" Travis brushes forward at me, pressing me and him up against a wall. He buries his head into the crook of my neck. I can feel his lips pressed up against my collarbone.
My head is filled with white noise. I can't even comprehend my situation. Travis leaves one kiss on my neck, sucking it slowly as he pulls up. He pulls away and looks into my eyes. His green eyes sparkle. He lays a hand on my cheek and leans in. I close my eyes and wait for his lips. But instead, I feel his cheek brush against mine. "Told you you were blushing." He whispers.
I push him off of me and punch him in the jaw. "You're such a idiot!" I yell at him. He smiles at me, barely acknowledging the fact I just sucker punched his jaw. "But I'm your idiot..." He says. I scoff and fold my arms. "As. If." I say with a roll of my eyes. He copy's me, scoffing at me and crossing his arms. "Don't. Deny. It." He says, matching my tone.
"Enough you too, you both sound like a old married couple!" Dante scolds. "Ya, what's gotten into you two?" Aphmau adds. Travis shrugs. "Feelings." He says. "Whatever." I mumble as I flop down on the couch. Travis sits down next to me, taking up the love-seat. Kawaii-Chan and Dante sit together on another love-seat and Aaron sits on the last love-seat as Aphmau puts in a movie, after she finishes, she sits with Aaron.
"What are we watching?" I ask. Aphmau smirks and I suddenly regret coming downstairs. "The Notebook." She says smugly. I groan and Travis slings his arm around me. "Perfect." He whispers, loud enough that only I can hear.

The movie was over and to put it bluntly, I was exceedingly tired. My eyes burned the longer I kept them open. Dante and Kawaii-Chan were cuddling and it was the same for Aphmau and Aaron. I suddenly realize I have my arms around Travis's torso. I don't move them though—why should I?
"Katelyn?" Travis whispers. I groan quietly. "Yes?" I whisper groggily. "You tired?" "Well of course, dip stick." I mumble with a smile. He chuckles quietly and I feel him pick me up bridal style and walk up stairs. "Where are we going?" I ask. "Shhh. Go to bed." He whispers, laying me down on a comfy surface.
He took me up to my room. I open my eyes slowly and realize he's laid down next to me. He gives me a smile and I can see his eyes light up through the darkness. I feel my stomach bubble at the sight. I sigh internally. Suddenly it clicked. I knew what it was.
Eyes. Those damn eyes fucked me over.
