The evening grew dark as your mood when the car sliced through the rain away from the airport.

You could hear Mrs. Griggs the mother of your host family speaking from the driver side as she drove you from the airport. From the dark backseat you answer politely trying to fight your voice from quivering. Your eyes are wet as a lump in your throat begins to tighten. You check your phone again and your parents have not text back since they put you on the flight to an out of state private school. You questioned if it was a good idea to live with a host family that you had never met. Was this elite out of state music school worth the aching heartbreak you have as you missed your parents and friends back home.

"Quinn!" she called out as she dropped her keys on the kitchen counter.

There was no answer.

As you are led through a dark hallway to your room a door opens spilling out light. Standing in a towel wrapped around his waist and spiky wet purple hair he looks at you before flashing a wicked smile. You accidentally whisper "damn."

"I was in the shower mom I didn't hear you" he apologized sincerely before closing the door with his foot.
