Introductions

"At introductions?" He laughed.

"Ah...magic, I'm afraid." Tav reached down to help the wizard stand. Every book that he carried was now spread across the room, all thanks to the very intense gust of wind she unknowingly casted.  He had startled her by asking if she was alright as she paced up and down the library at Blackstaff Academy.

"It appears that you aren't lacking in the magic department, considering you would've sent me flying through the windows had I'd been facing them." He brushes the dust off of his knees. "I don't think I've seen you here before, have I? Are you touring the Academy? Looking for a book? Everyone considers me quite resourceful!" He pauses, scratching the back of his neck. "Perhaps too resourceful."

Tav crouched down to collect one of the books. "I- uh, was just here to visit someone."

"A teacher? Another student? I'm sure I could guide you into the right direction if you happened to be los-"

"They were busy." She cuts him off with quickness.

"Ah, I see." the wizard smiles softly. "Schedules can become quite hectic here. Are you waiting for them to conclude, then? Considering you've probably walked down each aisle in the library three times over since I've been here."

If only this man knew what Hans was busy with.
"He's going to be occupied for some time." Tav speaks dryly. "Figured I would make my visit worthwhile in some way. I've heard great things about this place."

"Seems to me you should be attending, and not just visiting." the man says. "An incredible showcase of talent, if I do say so myself. Storm magic, is it not? And with no incantations...a sorceress perhaps?"

Tav smiles softly. "I wouldn't say talent, but, yes." Suddenly her words oozed sarcasm. "A mere human girl, gifted from the Gods! How grateful I am to be blessed with such magic."

"I'm sure you've lived a life of heavy expectations," the wizard sat in a nearby chair. "Unfortunately I can relate, in that sense."

Tav sat across from him, crossing both her legs and her arms across her chest. "I can take one look at you and come to the conclusion that you've met those expectations. You reek of raw talent, even if you weren't born with it." She sighs. "Can't say the same for myself."

"Why don't you enroll here?" he suggests. "Considering you already have a companion at the Academy?"
Tav's eyes immediately shift to stare at her feet. "A splendid idea. However, I don't think I'd prefer walking in on my companion wrapped up with another woman any more than I just have today."

"Oh." he says.

"Yeah," Tav snorts. "Oh."

Tav immediately felt the regret of sharing her experience with a stranger. Although the man had been kind thus far, finding herself vulnerable to someone she had just met was a bit overwhelming on top of what she had just witnessed. She had already almost sent him flying to his death with her uncontrollable magic, and now she was going to tell him about her unfaithful boyfriend? Way to go, she thought. First impressions sure are important.

She looks up again at the wizard who is now wearing an empathetic face. Even in the dimly lit library, she could make out his features with ease. His hair was a deep brown, tied back in a half bun, his eye color to match. His sun kissed face was covered with a light amount of facial hair. An attractive man, to say the least. Waterdeep had been full of them. Considering the limited number of people in Mistshore, it wasn't a surprise to her the variety of life that surrounded her once she had arrived here.

Tav stands up quickly. "I apologize for knocking you over. And randomly dumping this on you."

The wizard smiles so warmly it almost makes her sick to her stomach. "This was the most eventful thing I've had this week. Sometimes a stranger is the best person for conversations like these. Considering you won't attend here, it is more than likely our paths will never cross again."

He was right, she thought. She would never see this man again.

Tav sat there with him for what felt like hours. His name was Gale, which she had immediately recognized from stories that Hans had told her. Mystra's Chosen, which was no wonder she could easily recognize that the man was incredibly talented. His aura was nothing short of suffocating, much more to her than Hans had ever made her feel in his presence. He told her of his love for his goddess, cooking, and his tressym Tara. Tav told him of her story and what home was like. She was so enamored by how intently he was listening to her.

The sunset was incredibly bright that night. The golden hues of the sky seeped through the windows. For once in her life, Tav felt content. A conversation she wanted to never end, knowing what was waiting for her at home. Knowing she would have to face him.

Tav stands as the darkness fills the room. "I do have to get going, I'm afraid."

Gale smiles softly. "A shame indeed."

Tav smiles back. "Thank you, Gale. It was lovely meeting you." As she walks away, Gale suddenly rushes forward to grab her hand.
"Wait," he says. "Your name. All these hours and you didn't tell me your name."

Tav smiles again. "Tavina De Mare. Uh- just call me Tav. The only people who call me Tavina are my parents and-"

"I understand." Gale says. "It was a pleasure, Tav. I hope you stay well."

Gale returns to his room to immediately open his notebook. With much delight, he begins to write:

The weather had been suspiciously mild throughout Lisette's pregnancy. Although the storms still passed through the village of Mistshore, the rains had been lighter than normal. The heavy mists no longer plagued the skies. The winds didn't prevent Trevin and the other fishermen from working on the seas. There was talk amongst the village that the child Lisette carried was a blessing from the Gods.
The townsfolk thought differently when Lisette was in her labors.
The storm that night was ferocious and unforgiving. Many homes were unrecognizable from the lightning damage, and this did not exclude the home of the De Mare's.
The couple had struggled for years to conceive, and regardless of how selfish that it seemed, it didn't matter if the home was unrepairable. Or even if the town would never recover. Their daughter made her entrance amongst the chaos.
A full head of black hair; eyes as gray as the storm clouds above.
Tavina would be her name.

As their eyes met the moment Tav had pulled him from the rune, a familiar sense of comfort surrounded them amongst the Ravaged Beach.
Wiping off the dust from his knees, he smiles at her brightly. Once again, his hand meets hers.
"Apologies. I'm usually better at this." he says sarcastically.
"At introductions?" she retorts quickly.
Gale smiles even brighter, "At magic."
