24. Katherine...the crazy ex

24. Katherine...the crazy ex

I woke up lying on a bed, and to be honest, it was comfy. I didn't want to move. But once I realized how I got here and who had got me here, I shot up immediatley.

Katherine.

What did she want with me? Wasn't she supposed to be nice to her great great great great grandaughter? And also, how did she get out of the tomb?

"Want an explanation?"

"Gah!" I cried, tumbling off the bed. Annoyed, I pulled myself back to my feet and stood staring at Katherine who was wearing...my clothes? From my room? How the hell did she get in? "Stupid vampires."

"I agree with you there. We're very...manipulative aren't we?" She asked, smirking.

I shrugged. "I guess. Now what the hell am I doing here? And how did you get out of the tomb? And how and why are you in my clothes?"

"First." Katherine said, sitting down on the bed. "You're here because if I hand you over to Klaus, then he wont be so obsessed with killing me. Second, Klaus got a witch to break the spell. And about your clothes, I compelled a man and got him to get them for me. I need to pass for you so no one thinks I'm Katherine..."

"Oh..." I said, my voice high. "So Klaus is...here?"

SHe nodded. "In the other room. He's...feeding at the minute."

"Oh." I said once again. "What about Elijah? Is he here?"

"No, he doesn't know anything about this."

At least he was true to his word.

"Klaus is coming."

"Wait, what?" I demanded. Katherine simply shook her head and then darted off into the other room. Then suddenly, I was facing a man.

"Klaus."

He was...gorgeous? Handsome? Yes, both of them. His hair was a light but dark blond and he had a sort of piercing look in his eyes. He was wearing a pair of loose jeans and...that was it. So yes, his abs were showing off.

"Nina, it's nice to meet you." He smiled, holding out a hand. Nervously, I shook it and then shrank back down onto the bed. It just felt weird...being in the same room with the man that could possibly kill me.

"Can I go home?" I asked, I knew it was a long shot but still...maybe he was a nice man hiding behind a scary though good looking vampire.

Klaus sighed, then smirked. "Yes."

I shot up. "Um...what?"

"Well I'm not going to keep you here until the full moon. That would be rude of me."

"I'm sorry...I don't understand." I admitted. "Katherine brought me here-"

"Look Nina, I am not going to hold you here, okay? I just wanted to talk. And i knew that I couldn't just walk up to you and your friends and ask for a conversation. They'd try and kill me at first sight, wouldn't they?"

I shrugged. "Possibly. But you didn't need to get Katherine out of the tomb..."

"Of course I did." He said.

"But now she doesn't owe you anything. She can run off."

"That's not very likely."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

Klaus wandered over to the bed and dropped down on it, patting the seat next to him so i budged up immediatley. He turned to face me, placed his hand over his knees and looked at me.

"I needed Katherine out of the tomb, so that she could go and get you. Of course she would never bring you to me unless there was something in it for her. So I said that I'd forget about her betraying me back in her human days. But, as you can probably guess, I was lying. I just needed someone to bring you here so I could talk to you."

"Talk to me about what?" I demanded.

"About the sacrifice." He said, frowning. "You know that it's going to happen. I was just going to bring up a solution that you might be interested in...one that could help save your life."

"I don't understand." I said.

"Well, it doesn't need to be you that has to be sacrificed. It can be Elena."

"What?!" I shrieked. "No! Not my sister! I could...I could never do that to her!"

"It's just a suggestion..." He said. "Because, there's something about you that is very interesting...and I don't want to have to destroy it."

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing...it's just something about your blood. It doesn't seem normal, that's all."

"Oh. Well either way, I'm not going to do something like that to my sister."

"That's ok." He nodded. "Well Nina, if you change your mind then you should just come to this apartment and Katherine will let you in."

"Katherine?" I asked.

"Compulsion, she can't leave until I tell her to."

"Smart ass."

"Back to your old self again?" Klaus wondered.

I shot him a look. "Eh?"

"Back to your joking, weird, strange self, I see."

"Have you been watching me or something?"

"Occasionally...from time to time...every so often."

"Ah." I nodded. "Well, I guess the next time I see you you wont be as nice?"

"Well, the next time could possibly be when I'm draining you dry so maybe not."

"Too bad." I sighed. "Well, the reasonable you is quite nice and...if I say something insulting, will you bite me?"

"No. Why?" He asked.

"Because I want to tell you to go directly to hell." I said, and then stood up. "Could I leave now?"

Klaus smiled, then gestured to the door. "I'll be seeing you around Nina."

I wandered over to the door, then paused before opening it. "Likewise."

30 minutes later I was on a bus and had taken a seat at the back. I'd been a big fan of the Gilmore Girls and took the tip off Loreli when she told Rory to sit at the back, because people were more talkative there.

Luckily, there was some girl I recognized from school there. She had blondish hair and was licking a lollipop when I sat down in the seat in front of her. I turned back to face her and gave her the cheesiest grin I could force up.

"Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?!" I sang.

"Did that random idea come from your shirt?" She asked, raising an eye-brow. I looked at my shirt and giggled, I'd almost forgot it had a pineapple on.

"Nope, it came from the big head inside my brain." I smiled.

"Don't you mean-"

"Don't correct me." I glared.

She nodded. "Ok. So you're Nina right? Elena's sister?"

"Finally!" I cried. "Someone who calls me Nina and not Elena! I must say I love you already!"

She laughed. "I love me too. I'm Carly. Where you heading?"

"Home." I sighed. "Got to get back to the Salvatore brother's and Miss Look-a-like."

"You live with Damon and Stefan?!"

"The 2 and only." I smirked. "Yes I do."

"You're so lucky. They're both insanely hot."

"I guess." I shrugged. "Do you have 3 dollars? I promised the driver I'd pay when I got off but I actually don't have the money..."

"Sure." Carla said and handed me the money.

"Thanks."

We had a little conversation in dolphin language and then she gave me her number which I put in my phone. When the bus got to my stop, I waved goodbye, handed the driver the money and skipped down the road until I saw the boarding house. I opened the door and walked in, only to find Damon sitting with Katherine.

"Wha?" He managed to say. Then he looked at Katherine and glared. "Katherine...you bitch. How did you get out of the tomb?"

"I have my ways." She smirked.

"Klaus got her out." I glared. "And last night, she knocked me out and brought me to Klaus."

Damon was suddenly shooting at me in seconds and grabbing my shoulders. "What did he do?" He asked in concern. "Did he hurt you?"

"No, I'm fine." I assured him. "He was actually pretty nice, just wanted to talk." Then i looked at Katherine. "You should probably go back to him, he needs to tell you a little something about how compulsion works."

"Whatever." Katherine said, rolling her eyes. "I'll see you later Damon." Then, she was out.

"Damon, I'm fine." I promised him. "But Klaus did say something about my blood. He wouldn't explain it properly though."

"Maybe your blood is like...special or something?"

"Possiblly." I noted. "Wanna check?"

"Yes!"

"Damon, I was joking."

"I wasn't!" Damon said, then scooped me up in his arms bridal side. Giggling, I kicked and struggled repeatedly and in 3 seconds, he was gently lying me down on his bed.

Then jumping on top of me.

"No Damon, stop!" I cried, but still giggling hysterically. Damon smirked at me and then smoothed the hair away from my neck, before forcing his open mouth further onto the skin.

"Damon..." I said, starting to get the tinest bit scared. "Damon don't do this. You don't want to. Just...please get off."

Suddenly, Damon's lips pressed against my neck...but there was no pain or fangs for that matter.

SLowly, he lifted his face up so his head bounced against mine.

"I could never hurt you." He said, face serious and eyes beautiful as always.

"I know." I nodded. "I just...thought you might slip off the wagon there,"

"Well, I didn't. And I would never do that to you cause I care about you a lot."

"I feel the same way." I promised.

And that was where it hit me. I was...falling in love with Damon?
