17. Full Moon
17. Full Moon
It was finally here. The night of the full mon. And in approximatley 3 minutes, lots of angry werewolves were going to turn.
Me, Bonnie and Elena were outside the boarding house, keeping watch. Jeremy was inside, spreading wolfsbane around the bathroom, (because that was where we hid the moonstone). Caroline, Stefan, and Damon were all inside.
The plan was, was that me, Elena and Bonnie stayed outside to keep watch. Once we saw, or heard the werewolves, me and Elena run in and tell the others. The vampires go outside, Bonnie says some kind of spell to keep the wolves away, and if it doesn't work, then they fight physically.
It was dangerous, but Stefan assured me it would be fine.
As for Damon, i hadn't spoken to him in a while. After his little breakdown, we just stopped talking. I hadn't spoken to Matt either, but that was because he was busy working. I hadn't told anyone about Matt though, especially Caroline. I was afraid of what they'd think of me. I wasn't normally that paranoid, but this time I was.
"They're here." Bonnie said, her eyes looking out into the woods.
"Where?" Me and Elena both asked at the same time.
"Hiding in the trees." She replied. "You two need to get inside now. Send the others out."
Me and ELena both nodded and then sprinted inside of the house. Damon, Caroline and Stefan came to their feet and wandered over to us.
"They're here?" Caroline asked.
I nodded. "In the trees."
Elena walked over to Stefan and rubbed his shoulder. "Promise me you'll be ok?" She whispered. Stefan gave her a wary smile and laughed.
"I'm always ok." He assured her. "We'll all be fine."
"You better be." I warned.
"Like you even care." Damon muttered under his breath. Instead of snapping back at him, I just pretended that I didn't hear. I didn't want another fight.
"So what exactly do me, Nina and Jeremy do?" Elena asked.
"Go onto the upstairs hallway and hide in the cupboard." Stefan replied. "It's only small but it's probably the safest place."
"Ok." I nodded. "Stay safe guys."
Then, the 3 vampires darted out of the room and me and Elena rushed upstairs. Jeremy was just finishing putting wolfsbane in front of the cupboard door.
"Get in cousins." He smiled, opening the door for us. Me and Elena hurried inside the small, dark room and then Jeremy jumped in as well, shutting the door again.
It was hard to see anything so we all just huddled to the floor and sat tightly.
"Do you think they'll find us?" Elena asked.
"I dunno." I admitted. "But we have Jeremy, so if they come we can just throw him into them and make a run for it."
"Got it." Elena agreed.
"You guys are so nice." Jeremy muttered. I ruffled his hair and laughed a little.
"You know I'm joking."
We sat there for what seemed like forever. And eventually, we could hear Bonnie saying some kind of spell. I also heard growling, loud bangs and the sound of fighting. And even though I didn't want to, all that I could think about was Damon. Would he be ok? He was too much of an adrenaline junky for his own good. He'd probably get himself killed.
No. Not the time, Nina. Damon will be fine. Everyone will. Especially Damon.
Suddenly, we heard a freakishly loud smash. It was definitley a window. Did that mean that a wolf had gotten in?
A howl errupted through the house.
"Oh my God." Elena panicked. She pulled me and Jeremy closed to her body and we all kept quiet. We could hear more bangs, and the sound of...a werewolf being flung into the wall? Or a vampire being flung into the wall? Either way, it sounded painful.
"Tyler, don't!" Caroline screamed.
What was he doing?
"Bonnie I need help!" Caroline shouted. For whatever reason, she sounded terrified.
"What's wrong?" Bonnie called.
"Tyler's gonna bite Damon!"
And at that moment, I darted out of the cupboard. I sprinted over to the stairs but was held back by Jeremy's hands around my waist.
"Nina, he'll be fine. Just get back in here." He said, his voice soothing. I pushed him off me though and continued to sprint down the stairs. Once I got there, 2 werewolves were rounding on Caroline and Damon and Bonnie ran through the front door.
"What are you looking at, your worthless mutt?" Damon growled at what I guessed was Tyler. The wolf took a little step back, as if readying to pounce. "I killed your Uncle by the way. I wripped his heart out...as he begged me not to."
But that's when the wolf pranced.
"DAMON!" I screamed.
I launched towards Damon and threw myself in front of the wolf before he could do anything. I looked into his brown eyes, and knew at once that they were Tyler's.
"Tyler...don't do this?" I pleaded. "Please don't do this."
But the wolf only growled furiously and put one foot back again. Damon's arms protectivley wrapped around me and pulled my body down to the floor; holding me to his chest tightly. And that's when the wolf jumped at us.
I closed my eyes and hid myself into Damon. After 10 seconds, i opened them and looked around. The wolves were gone, and Caroline, Bonnie and Stefan looked at me and Damon on the floor...there faces broken.
Why were they looking at us like that? We were fine. Tyler hadn't done anything.
That's when I noticed Damon's shaking wrist. And how the sleeve was wripped. And how blood was dripping out.
Damon had been bitted by a werewolf.
Werewolf bites killed vampires.
Which meant...Damon would die?
"No!" I screamed and looked up at Damon. I grabbed his shocked face in my hands and forced my eyes into his. "You can't...you weren't...he didn't bite you! You're fine! You're not gonna die!"
"Nina." Damon said, smiling a little but also shaking.
"No!" I cried. "No! No! No!"
"It'll be fine." Stefan assured me as he came over. He examined Damon's wrist and nodded his head. "We'll find a cure. It's nothing to worry about."
"Right." Bonnie said. "I'll look for a spell too. Just incase you can't find anything."
"Don't worry Damon." Caroline said. "We wont let you die."
Damon nodded, still looking a bit shocked and then he stood up; pulling me along with him. He put both his hands on my shoulders and sighed.
"Thought you didn't care about me." He said.
I shrugged. "I just...adrenaline...dunno."
Damon laughed. "If you ever do anything as stupid as that again, I will personaly go up to your new boyfriend and steal his nose. Got it?"
I nodded. "He's not my boyfriend. We've not even been out on a date yet."
"Who's the guy?" Caroline asked. I nervously popped my head in her direction and took in a deep, uneasy breath.
"Matt..."
"Oh God!" She cried, hysterically. "That is such a relief!"
"Why?" I asked, squinting my eyes.
"Cause I've had a little thing going on with your ex, Tyler." She admitted. "I was scared to tell you. But I'm so finishing with him after what he just did to Damon."
"Oh...okay." I nodded. I looked back at Damon and sighed. "What if...what if you can't find a cure?"
"Then I guess I'll be putting you out of your misery." He shrugged.
I slapped his cheek and grimaced. "I don't care about you in a love way. But you're still my friend."
Damon gave a little nod and then kissed my cheek. "Good. I've missed you. Now can I get some blood? I'm feeling kind of faint."
"Blood bag." Stefan said, holding one out. I guessed that he'd used his super vampire speed to go downstairs. Damon took it, tore it open with his teeth and gulped it down as if it were a bourbon or something. I giggled a little at his face.
"What?" He asked.
"You just got bit by a werewolf and you're acting as if everything's fine." I said, shrugging. "Aren't you scared?"
"Nope." He said. "I'd rather a werewolf bite than have to kiss Stefan again."
"We both know you loved it." I smirked.
Damon raised an eye-brow. "We both know who I'd love to kiss."
My cheeks literally heated up a hot red color. "Do we?" I asked.
"Yes. We do."
"Alright, I'm gonna go let Jeremy and Elena know what's happened." Stefan said.
"And I'm gonna go take a rage on my dumbass, werewolf boyfriend." Caroline muttered, shooting off. I looked at Bonnie and she played with her hair nervously.
"I'll just give you guys some room..." she said before wandering through into the kitchen.
Once we were alone, Damon looked at me and sighed. "Honestly...I'm scared." He admitted.
I took his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. "Don't worry, it'll be fine."
But just then, I realized that I was lying. It wouldn't be fine. Damon was going to die. Elijah was going to come, hand me or Elena over to Kluas and sacrifice us. Either way, we were al going to die.
"I know." Damon said, breaking my depressing thoughts. "But let me tell you this. I will live long enough to kill Kluas, because I swear to god that if he touches you I will-"
"Steal his nose?" I guessed.
"Steal it and pick my own nose and put my boogers it."
I nodded. "Good luck with that."
