Mirajane's POV

"Mira! Please wake up sis..."

I heard Lisanna's cries, I saw nothing but darkness. I was so tired, Take Over had taken its toll and I wasn't prepared to recover anytime soon.

"Li-Lisanna..." I murmured.

"Mira! She's awake!" My eyes refused to open, but I knew that eventually I would be able to stand up properly.

"Mira? Oh my gosh thank goodness you're all right!" Elfman. His voice got closer during his sentence.

"...what..." I tried to speak but ended up coughing, my throat burned and my voice felt worse than my aching body.

"Steady sis, take it easy." I felt Elfman's hands help me sit up, then I managed to open my eyes.

The sight in front of me was comforting; Lisanna was to my right and Elfman was to my left, his hand still lingering on my shoulder. I was in the Fairy Tail infirmary, my arms had bandages wrapped around from my wrists up to my shoulders. I didn't dare to ask about the crack which  always comes with Demon Soul, I didn't want to know about any scar it could have left or if it had stayed.

"How long...?" I managed to croak out before ending up in a coughing fit again.

"Careful, it's been a couple of hours. We got some medicine when Evergreen and I went shopping, then Warren gave us a call to hurry back. We were glad that we picked some up after he told us what was happening, Master devised a plan so that you would be safe again." Elfman explained. "The other guy though, you never told us he was a Dragon Sl-,"

My eyes widened as it all came flooding back- the reason I lost control.

Laxus. His magic.

The Magnolia Tragedy.

»SEVEN YEARS EARLIER«

"Mira? Sis?" I looked down at my baby brother, clutching on to my cape. "Can't we rest here for a bit?"

"Please sis, we'll go and buy some sweets and bring them back here." Lisanna begged, her bright blue eyes gleaming.

I looked down and sighed. "Be back in thirty minutes. I'll stay here and if I don't hear from either of you after the thirty minutes then I'm coming to find you."

"Don't worry, we'll be back by then!" Lisanna grinned before grabbing her older brother's hand and leading him away.

I sat down on a nearby crate, the alley was small but concealed my whereabouts well. My hand burned wildly, if the same burning sensation spread throughout my body then it would have been worse than any fever I'd ever seen or dealt with.

Hesitantly I held my hand out from within my cape, it was still the unfamiliar sight.

"Demon." I said quietly.

In my hometown a demon had attacked and threatened all of our lives, it had gone for my siblings trying to claim their lives. Instead I stood in front of them and held out my hand in a helpless attempt to stop it. Before anyone else could react there was a blinding purple light, then it was gone but my hand had started to bubble until it look exactly like the demon's hand.

"Demon!" The townspeople had cried. They grabbed their pitchforks and torches, advancing on me faster than I could run.

If it wasn't for my brother and sister, I probably would have let them end it at some point. But I had to live for them, and they saved me that day.

Dragged me away from the mob, snatched a cloak from them, grabbed as much food as they could hide in their bags and then led me out.

I was snapped out of my daze when I first heard it.

A high pitched scream.

"Lisanna!" I shrieked.

I moved as fast as my legs would let me, trying to find my way towards my sister. When I found her I almost screamed.

A crowd of people were circling her and another boy who she was standing in front of and seemed to be protecting.

"Leave him alone! Just because he's different doesn't mean you can bully him! So go away before I get more mad!"

"Shut up little girl! Just give us the Dragon Slayer!" One of the men yelled.

"Miss please go, I'll be fine." The boy said, his hair was an odd pink colour.

"No! Bullying is wrong, even if the adults think they're right. My sister was bullied and now we run, I won't let the same happen to others."

"Lis..." I felt my eyes tearing up.

"Lisanna!" I looked to my left and saw Elfman running towards the scene. "What's going on?"

"Get your idiot sister away from that monster!"

Monster.

Monster?

That's when the first wave hit.

I felt a pulse in my head, my mind raced and the burning from my hand began to spread.

The crowd of people all turned and saw me, a purple glow enveloping my body.

The first change was like being in autopilot; I knew what I was going to do and I was fine with it.

A blast of pure dark energy emerged from the palm of my right hand, it separated the crowd, leaving an opening for Lisanna and the boy to rush through. Elfman hurried after them.

"Sis...?" Lisanna began.

"Run." I felt my voice growl.

The three children nodded and rushed away. Unfamiliar power surged through my body, but I seemed to rejoice in it.

"What magic is this?" One of the people called out.

"The magic which I will use to protect those children." I said, before throwing out another orb of energy towards them.

***

It wasn't long until I found the three cornered again, but this time I didn't need to save them. The small pink haired boy breathed fire and ran towards the town centre, the townspeople weren't interested in my siblings at all. They just left them both and followed the young boy.

"Mira!" Elfman called out when he noticed me, "Natsu went that way! You need to help him!"

I began to move towards my siblings when I heard a voice in my head say, 'More, use more of your power.'

"What...?" I managed to croak before it happened.

My arms moved on their own and suddenly powerful blasts of dark magic spouted from my fingertips. Some of them hit buildings, causing the brickwork to crumble and turn to dust, others were close to hitting my brother and sister.

Stop. Stop. I need to stop!

Then I heard its putrid voice.

I am the demon you absorbed. And I am here to take your vessel away.

Lisanna and Elfman were trembling in front of me. My one goal was to keep this demon from hurting them, so I changed my thoughts and focused on saving the pink haired boy.

There's no havoc I can create here, we'll follow that scrawny child.

A part of me was relieved that this demon wasn't interested in my siblings, but a stabbing sensation in my gut told me that worse things were to come.

I seemed to float high up above the city, finding the mop of pink hair was no chore. He was with a group of other young people, before I could approach them I was halted by a cry of fear.

"Demon!"

I looked down and saw a woman clutching her newborn baby close to her heart, men and women gathered around and glared at me.

"Someone! Someone kill it!"

I snarled at that comment. Then I watched as my left arm rose up, aiming at the man who said it. A pulse of black and purple magic brimmed at my fingertips and I let it fly towards him.

Screams of terror engulfed the mans cry of pain. Inside I was horrified, his right leg had been badly damaged and the look on his face read one message.

Fear.

More screaming followed my first attack. That was when I knew that this demon inside of me, it wasn't going to let me go... Ever.

About an hour later I had destroyed almost half of the city (not counting the Royal Palace) and people were desperate to help their injured friends. My course eventually led me to the guild Fairy Tail, where a group of mages were waiting for me.

The smallest of them was also the oldest. His glare stopped the demon in its tracks and I cheered inside.

"Release that girl."

"Or what?" I heard a horrifying voice respond, it took me a moment to register the fact that it came from my mouth.

He took out a book from his pocket, it was small but appeared to be very ancient. Taking a deep breath he began to chant a series of words, with each syllable he recited I felt something like a heartbeat in my ears.

The sound became louder and louder and I couldn't help but lose consciousness.

***

When I opened my eyes, I was in a white bed surrounded by people who I didn't know. My sister held my right hand whilst my brother held my left.

"Lisanna!" They both cried in unison. After that they both hugged me as tightly as they could, I stifled a laugh but then began to hiss with the pain.

"Careful young ones, her ribs still need to heal." I looked up and saw the same man from earlier. His moustache looked a bit charred on the left side but his smile drew any other attention away from his other injuries. "Hello Mirajane Strauss, my name is Makarov. I'm the guild master here of Fairy Tail."

Days later we were admitted into Fairy Tail, Lisanna and Elfman began to learn their own types of magic. Makarov taught me that my magic was powerful yet had its dangers as I had already learnt.

"Take Over magic is one which can be perfected, if you are willing to learn."

At the start, I tried to use my powers but found that the demon was too powerful for me to overcome.

"You absorbed this demon Mira," Makarov explained to me. "Therefore you do have the power in you to overthrow it again. Granted I am no expert in your magic, but I believe that you can do this!"

The days became years as I suddenly became more and more afraid of what resided within me. Eventually I declared my magic was too dangerous to master and gained permission from Makarov to be a bartender at Fairy Tail rather than a Mage.

»PRESENT«

"Sis?!" Lisanna shook me again, breaking me out of my daze. "Oh my gosh thank goodness. I thought we lost you again for a moment!"

"No, I-I'm fine..." I took a breath before asking. "Is Laxus here?"

"He's having a reunion with his grandfather."

"Who?"

Don't tell me...

"Makarov."

Son of a gun.

WELL WELL WELL.

What a backstory.

I'm just kidding, I'm not that imaginative.

Q: Would you ever risk your life to save family?

A: In a heartbeat.

What about you guys...?
