"Just what the hell am I up against?!" Jackal yelled, watching Natsu as he 'controlled' his explosion curse.

"See..." Natsu smirked, laughing with his eyes glowing yellow from engulfing Jackal's curse power. Only then did the demon see Natsu for who he truly was.

"You're..."

"Fairy Tail's Natsu Dragneel!" Natsu yelled throwing a Fire Dragon: Iron Fist at the demon.

"No! You're a monster!" Jackal cowered in fear trying to block the fire dragon slayer's punches.

"I'm sorry, Lucy." Natsu whispered, but somehow she still heard his voice. "I didn't mean to keep it from you."

Natsu stopped fighting Jackal, and turned to look at Lucy, Wendy, Happy, and Carla. His smiled sadly, trying to hold onto the memories with all of his friends and the family he had grown to love.

He let his flames engulf his entire body, while tears fell down his cheeks, almost like a down pour on a gloomy day.

Lucy then began to cry, watching as two horns formed on his head. Then a tail right above his rear grew long to touch the ground. His clothes had also seemed to change to something more suiting of what he has become.

The worst part about this sudden transformation was his guild insignia changing from Fairy Tail to Tartarus. All the while Jackal was laughing like the monster he claims to be.

The four wizards watched at Natsu turned his back to them, and killed Jackal in cold blood. None of them, unfortunately, noticed the waterfall of tears he shed.

Upon arriving back at the guild, without Natsu, Wendy explains everything that had occurred, since the distraught celestial mage couldn't bring herself to say a word. With the guild in disarray, Lucy had left for home unnoticed. Later, everyone else had began to make battle plans to fight against Tartarus and their fallen friend.

When Lucy arrived home, she started her normal routine she did before she went to bed for the night. First she took a long bath that let a her mind run a mile a minute, recapping the utterly horrifying revelation. Then, she tried to write some more of her novel, but proved fruitless as she felt too distracted to do so. By then no matter what she did, it felt as if she was just in a bad dream, so she retired for the night.

That night, something was watching Lucy from her bedroom window as she slept. It had red eyes, and sharp teeth. A smile that looked so familiar turned a sinister grin.

The next morning in the Fairy Tail Guild, the door burst wide open, letting in an intense heat.

"Why are you trying to hide her?" A demanding voice asked.

"We're not hiding anyone!" Gajeel yelled, getting ready to throw punches at the intruder.

"Where is she?!" The voice demanded again, but now was attacking the Fairy Tail members.

"I'm right here!" Lisanna shouted, walking up to them.

"No." They grit their teeth, took hold of Lisanna, and threw her into her brother. "You're not who I'm looking for."

Natsu slowly turned to Lucy, who was in tears, watched as he injures his friends and the people he called family.

"This isn't you." She clenched her fists, and yelled. "I don't care what you are... because to me... you are the same Natsu I know you are!"

If only she knew those words would lead her to being kidnapped by the person she once called her best friend.

"Lucy!"

Natsu had brought her to a cliff they both knew well. It was the one that over looked the entire town of Magnolia.

"Do you mean it?" He asked softly, but it came out rough due to his transformation.

"Yes." She looked at him with that same stubborn look she'd always give him. "I don't give a damn if you're human, dragon, or even a demon because you are Natsu. That's all that matters to me."

"Thank you." He hugged her tightly, which she graciously returned.

"I'm going to find a way to turn you back into you again." Lucy vowed confidently. "That's a promise I intend to keep."

"Lucy, get out of the way!" The duo heard Gray yell from behind them.

"No, Gray! Stop!" Lucy shouted to the ice wizard who was releasing magic energy.

But Gray couldn't slow down fast enough to stop his attack from reaching Lucy.

"Lucy, move!" Natsu yelled pushing her out of the way.

Everything moved in slow motion. Gray rushing to the two, Lucy yelling, and Natsu pushing Lucy out of the way.

Natsu was hit by Gray's attack, which made Lucy cry once again. However, before he could lose consciousness all he saw was Lucy yelling at Gray, but he wasn't sure what about.

He then lost all consciousness.

"Put aside your feelings and help me get him back to the guild, please!" Lucy begged, but Gray didn't move. "Gray, Natsu didn't choose this! I know there is a way we can help him, but we have to get him to the guild first!"

"..." He still didn't speak.

"Gray!" Lucy yelled louder making the ice wizard flinch. "Natsu is your best friend, and I know he would do the same for you!"

Through her ocean of tears, Gray put Natsu on his back and they both ran to the guild. When they got there Lucy explained everything, and the master approved of her request to keep him in the infirmary, but under the agreement he must be under lock and key.

Months later, Natsu had awoken from his comatose slumber. The room was so bright he could hardly see a thing, but he did note there was a presence other than his own.
