You celebrate more Middle Earth holidays ( like Durin's Day, Bilbo's birthday, the day the ring was destroyed, ect.) than real national holidays.

Tolkien fan: "Today is ( insert Middle Earth holiday here) yay!"

Family member/ friend: "No it's ( insert name of holiday)."

Tolkien fan: "oh it is? I didn't know that. I thought it just was ( name of middle earth holiday). "

Family member/ friend: *shakes their head
" I think you know more about Middle Earth than you do your own country that you live in. "

Tolkien fan: "Yup!" 😊

Family member/friend: *rolls eyes and shakes their head at the Tolkien fan who is smiling. " That wasn't a complement you know!"

Tolkien fan : *in Gollum voice " Yes it was precious! "

Family member/ friend: .......... Okay,  whatever then.
