Epilogue
The Death Eaters had gotten terrified when Voldemort died. They started to try to escape, but they realized they had nowhere to go. The Minister of Magic had eaten his words about saying Voldemort was not back. He had even gone so far as to retire; he was so embarrassed. Harry was devastated when I told him Dumbledore was dead. He didn't want to believe it, but I knew, deep down, he knew it was true. Ron was still sorrowful for his brother, which was understandable. George was an even bigger mess. He never told jokes anymore. He didn't even smile or talk, really. He was just quiet. He kind of sat in the corners and watched everyone, as if he wishes he could find joy once more.
I believed he could. After all, a Gryffindor named Angelina had her eyes on him. In fact, she had even talked to him yesterday. His eyes hadn't looked so dead.
Meanwhile, Hermione was helping Ron cope. I saw him sitting alone, on the verge on tears, when she would come to the rescue, wrapping her arms around him and setting her head on his shoulder, murmuring comforting things.
Severus and I had gotten much closer ever since the battle. He had even started smiling around me, which really boosted my confidence. It was still really awkward that he was my father, and not Voldemort. Now I know I'm a human. I just hated the fact that my mother, Bellatrix LeStrange, was someone that had caused Harry a lot of pain. But he had accpeted it because he knew that I hadn't even known until just now.
In fact, speaking of being born rather than created, I was able to have babies, which had made me very happy since that night with Harry before the battle had left me with a little surprise.
Harry comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist. "Hello, love," he murmurs in my ear.
I smile and close my eyes. "Hello, Harry."
I feel him release a breathy laugh.
Hermione comes up, holding Ron by the wrist, with a very excited look on her face. "Look," she breathes, holding out her hand. She has a silver promise ring with a bright red jewel. "Isn't it lovely?"
I smile and nod. "It's gorgeous, Hermione."
She blushes and smiles sheepishly. Ron throws his arm around her shoulder. I can tell he's feeling much better.
"You two," Harry says, shaking his head. "It took you guys long enough."
Ron grins, while Hermione fights a blush. "Oh, it didn't take that long," Hermione says.
"It took you seven years," Harry retorts playfully.
"Aw, he's right, love," Ron says to Hermione, raising her chin.
Harry and I share a glance.
He leans closer. "We should leave them be," he whispers.
I nod and he grabs my hand, interlacing his fingers with mine. We walk away slowly, up to the Common Room.
We pass Draco on the way, but he merely smiles sadly and dips his head.
I can't wait to tell Harry the news.
We walk in through the Common Room door with the opera lady. She smirks at Harry and I, as if to say, "Young love."
He leads me to the ,oh, so familiar maroon couch. We sit down and he wraps his arm around my shoulder.
I keep looking around the room, and suddenly, ridiculously, I burst out, "I'm glad you're alive."
He laughs. Harry finally calms down and lets out a breath. He turns to look at me and say something, but he bursts out laughing again. I find myself laughing too. Once again, he calms. "Where did you get that from?" Harry asks. "It's been a couple days."
I smile sheepishly. "Well, if you had died," I say, turning to him and taking his hands in mine, "I wouldn't have a father for my baby."
He stares at me, silently, expressionless. Then his brows furrow, and I swear he's going to say that he doesn't want me, but then he grabs my waist, lifts me off the couch, standing, and grins widely. "A baby!" he laughs. "I'm going to be a dad!"
I smile and laugh, too, because I'm so glad that he wants this as much as I do.
"Oh, Vallee, we're going to have a baby," he says, smiling happily. He sets me down.
I smirk teasingly and jut my hip out. "Well, technically, I'm going to have a baby."
He rolls his eyes. "It's my egg."
My jaw drops half a mile. I can't believe he said that! "Harry!" I exclaim.
He grins childishly.
I grin, too, and shake my head.
Then he turns serious. He steps forward, grabs my waist with one hand and my chin with another. "I love you," he says, and leans in for a kiss.
I love you, too.
Oh my gosh! I've done it! The book is finished! I love all of you guys so much! Thanks for all the votes, comments, and reads! You have no idea how much it means to me! Mwah!
