Jim had only attended school until he was in grade 6. He 'quit' school when all the teachers started thinking he was cheating, and when all the students took the bullying too far. 

Most of his focus was on mathematics, studying the most contemporary works of mathematicians and sometimes philosophy and science. Since he spent a lot of time in the library, he'd read a lot of books on crime too. 

He was the boy who dropped out of school, so he could study more.
