Chapter 12: Is this us?

When the school day had ended, Jungkook tried to come up with an excuse to let Taehyung into his house. He wasn't really worried about Taehyung, as it was only natural for him to be with him all the time - even at night to guard him from the outside, which still made him a bit creeped out, but he could understand since he was an actual legit angel - but it was his parents whom he was worried about. Would they allow him to eat dinner with them again? Would they let him spend the night, and inside so he'd be more welcomed and comfortable on his behalf, even though they just met? Would they let him?

"Taehyung hyung?" Jungkook asked as they were standing outside his house, "would you, uh, like to come in?" he asked.

Taehyung's eyes widened. "You...want me to come inside?" he asked, "are your parents okay with that? I mean, I'm fine being outside until tomorrow."

Jungkook shook his head. "That's ridiculous. Of course you should come inside. Are you hungry?"

"I don't get hungry," he said bluntly.

Jungkook stared at him for a moment in case he was joking, but apparently he wasn't. "You don't?" he asked stupidly.

"No."

"Okay." What excuse could he use now? "Uhm, do you sleep?" Taehyung shook his head, and Jungkook sighed disappointed once again. What now?

Taehyung jumped a bit, like something scared him, although his face didn't show he was scared, only surprised in a positive way. "Would you mind me coming in? And possibly staying for the night? You know, being inside a room is a bit more comfortable than in a tree outside," he explained a bit awkwardly.

Jungkook couldn't help but to grin. "Of course," he smiled, "wait a second, let me ask my parents."

Taehyung smiled back with a nod as he waited outside for Jungkook's family's permission to enter.

The young human skipped through the house happily as the news of the angel continuing to stay by his side still had an affect on him, he couldn't manage to calm himself down. "Mom? Dad?" Jungkook called as he couldn't spot either of them in the lounge.

His mother made an appearance from the kitchen, having an apron wrapped around her waist and Jungkook's father standing by the counter with the newspaper in his hands. "What is it love?" she smiled at him.

The sight made Jungkook's jaw drop. "You're...making food?" he asked astonished. He had never in his entire life even seen his parents near the kitchen, let alone by the oven, fridge, and even preparing a meal.

"Well of course," she beamed, "what kind of mother would I be if I couldn't even manage to make a simple meal?"

Jungkook hesitated. "A mother?" he replied unsurely. He wouldn't exactly dislike her less if she continued to stay clueless about food.

"True enough," she sighed as she flipped her towel over her shoulder, "did you want something as you called us?"

Jungkook remembered his angel outside the house again after being distracted for a moment. "Oh, yeah," he muttered, "is it okay if Taehyung stays for dinner?" he asked, "...and overnight?"

"Spend the night?" his father suddenly asked as he looked up from the newspaper, "why?"

"Because his family is having some troubles," the young male lied, "he really needs a place to stay. He's kind of sad and worried, and I want to be a good friend to him."

His mother smiled as she held over her heart. "That's the sweetest thing I've ever heard you say Jungkook," she smiled sweetly, "of course he can stay. But you're both going to school tomorrow."

Jungkook nodded as he gave his mother a big hug. "Thanks mom," he smiled gratefully for her kindness towards the angel, "you will be blessed." He caught himself as he said that, earning a weird look from the elder lady.

"Never thought I'd ever hear you say that, but thank you dear."

Jungkook nodded, and then quickly disappeared in the speed of light until he'd say something weird like that again. The more the male thought about it, the more he sounded like Taehyung, and it kind of scared him a bit. Never had he ever been religious, and neither did he want to, but he obviously knew angels - not to mention God - actually existed, but he didn't want to start praying; he'd only feel stupid if he did so, like he'd be mocked by someone, or something.

"Come inside," Jungkook invited Taehyung as he had opened the front door and allowed the angel to come in. He once again bowed respectfully towards the younger's parents, giving them yet again some compliments. Mrs Jeon told them to just wait up in her son's room as dinner wasn't ready yet, and they did so.

"I like your room a lot," Taehyung said, giving the room a better look than he got last time, or from outside, "it seems so neat and personal, and yet so mysterious."

Jungkook smiled. "Thanks hyung, my parents let me design it on my own."

The angel glanced at him with his eyebrows raised. "Really?" he asked astonished, "you did all of this on your own?"

"Well, only the look of it of course, but they helped me build and paint the walls."

"Obviously," Taehyung grinned.

Jungkook felt his heart beat loudly in his chest as he continued to watch the angel gaze around his room, hoping he'd give him more compliments, only more personalised to him rather than about his room. He enjoyed receiving compliments from the angel. It made him feel warm on the inside.

"Still writing I see," he commented as he once again spotted the laptop turned on, showing a document Jungkook was currently working on, but this time, he didn't rush over to turn it off, blocking the angel's view over it.

"Yeah," was all he replied with, nodding towards the angel as he glanced at him for approval.

"You and I," Taehyung read out loud the title of the novel, "cute title." He stepped closer to look at the smaller font of the text, reading the description as well. "'I had never behaved nicely. I had never followed rules. I had never bothered to care. Neither had I been a good person; until I met my destined hyung as he came down to me from heaven'," he read out loud, glancing at the human over his shoulder, "can I continue?"

"Sure, but don't try and correct my typos. I haven't edited it yet, so I'd feel less embarrassed if you'd read it as a friend and not as an editor would be nice," he said.

"Sure thing," Taehyung chuckled, focusing his eyes back onto the laptop. He remained silent as he read through the novel. Somehow, it felt so familiar. Everything was in first point of view, and it made the novel more personal, but the main character was so familiar. It was literally Jungkook himself. And when it described his feelings being alone, it made Taehyung's heart drop. But then another character made his appearance, and the main character - aka Jungkook - started to crush on this boy. The new character reminded the angel of himself; he was so much like him, also referring humans to their own species, not counting himself as one of them. The side character literally made the boy change of his heart, and he eventually fell for the other. He confessed, and so the novel ended.

"Jungkook?" Taehyung asked carefully as he straightened his back and faced the human. "Is this us?"

Jungkook didn't dare to meet the elder's eyes, and neither did he pick up the courage to ask.

"I asked you a question, Jeon Jungkook, and you better answer," the brown haired male said sternly.

Jungkook whimpered slightly, still not looking the other in the eyes, but still rose up his head. "Ye - yes."

This time it was Taehyung who fell silent. He honestly didn't know what to say to this.

"It's just a stupid novel," Jungkook defended himself, "I enjoy writing, so what? I create my characters, it's all in my head. You just inspired me, that's all."

Taehyung stared at the younger intently, which only made him more nervous. "You do realise angel's can't form some kinds of relationship other than being guardians for humans, right? I can't be more to you than that," he explained undetailed.

Jungkook wanted to ask him why. He wanted to ask how those rules came to be, and if it was rules made by God, and if so, he'd like to personally beat up his butt for making such a ridiculous rule. But he didn't. He couldn't. What right did he have? If he, one simple little human, disliked one rule, what right did he have to disagree with God?

Just because he had fallen in love, he had turned mad in his mind.
