Chapter 5: Talking helps

Jin moved his gaze down to his coffee. Namjoon was right. He had been taking his frustration out on the poor girl. "I will try and behave . . . but she-"

"But she nothing," Namjoon interrupted him, "As I have said, there could be many reasons why she irritates you."

In the corner of his eye, he saw the girl return with the milk and sugar. She placed it before them, and he looked up at her . . . when she caught him looking at her . . .

Her cheeks flushed. She averted her gaze. "Let me know if you would like anything else."

"Will do," Namjoon said with a smile. Jin just dismissed her with a nod, and she left them alone.

"So, Jin . . . Tell me what happened?" Namjoon asked as he added sugar to his coffee.

Jin kept staring at his coffee. Where should he begin? Should he start where Tae had told him about Minyu's horrible acting?

On the other hand, maybe he should start where she entered his office and tell him what happened there? "Where should I start, Namjoon? Should I start by saying you have told me so?"

Namjoon sat back in the chair and brought his coffee to his lips. "Just tell me what happened before you called me."

Jin took a deep breath and looked up. "It started when I received news that my company was going bankrupt. Minyu entered my office saying Tae was . . . being mean, including Yoongi and Hoseok."

Namjoon nodded and took a sip from his coffee, "Continue."

"I told her they were probably playing, but she said they told her - she would be getting fired." Jin lifted his coffee to his lips. "I said, but you went to the drama lessons I have been paying for..."

Namjoon rolled his eyes. Jin had told him about the drama lessons, and he had told him he shouldn't waste his money.

He had secretly watched the movies she had played in... He didn't have the heart to tell Jin that his fiancé was . . . "Did the lessons pay off?"

Jin shook his head, "She told me that the teacher said she didn't need the training, and she used the money to buy more clothes and . . . Namjoon, I lost it . . ."

Namjoon placed his cup down slowly. Jin had never lost his cool before. No wonder he was being awful to the waitress. "You lost it?"

Jin nodded, "All I said was . . . You are fired."

Namjoon folded his arms and watched Jin closely. "Wow . . . Was that when she - end it?"

That was a low blow from his side, but he had to ask. Jin wasn't the type who would give up easily. He would have to be pushed beyond his limits, and he waited for his response.

Jin's thoughts went to the ring in his pocket, and he sighed. "Yes... She threw the engagement ring at me."

Namjoon whistled, "Now that took guts on her part. I thought she would do anything to keep you to herself."

"Do you think she is punishing me? I want to apologise-"

"Under no circumstances will you apologise to her, Jin." Namjoon cut him off. "I have told you from the beginning that she was after your money."

Yuna stood at the kitchen counter. "Can this day end already . . ."

"Why do you want it to end?" Nimue asked her amusingly, "More customers will be coming soon."

She glanced back to the table where Jin and Namjoon sat. A small sigh escaped her lips. His touch was still lingering on her arm. She had been screaming inside, and her butterflies went off the charts in her stomach.

"Nimue, would you please serve the two in the back? If other customers come in . . . I will be more than happy-"

"Oh, no . . . No, I am the chef, not a waiter," his eyes followed her gaze, "Wait . . . Do you have a crush on one of them?"

Yuna's gaze snapped back to him, "Are you absurd?"

"Your tone says otherwise, so who is it?" Nimue said teasingly.

Yuna pursed her lips. "You are wrong . . ."

Nimue quirked an eyebrow, "They are calling for you."

*****

"What if she isn't? What if this was all a huge mistake?" Jin threw the questions at Namjoon.

Namjoon motioned to the girl. She stood with her back to them. Before he answered Jin, "I will say this once and only once, Jin . . . Minyu never cared for you."

Yuna took a deep breath and walked to their table. "Yes?"

Jin didn't bother to look at her. He was absorbing what Namjoon had told him. 'Never cared? That cannot be true . . . Minyu wasn't that heartless.'

"I think you can bring us the special for today," He smiled at Yuna.

Yuna jolted it down on her notepad, "So two of today's special . . . Coming up."

Jin looked up, "Wait-" he started as she was turning, "Aren't you going tell us what-"

"Jin Kim! I have told you to stop. You can go, miss." Namjoon intervened, "Didn't I tell you-"

"I am sorry, maybe I should just go . . . I am not myself today." Jin said softly.

*****

Yuna returned to the kitchen, "Nimue, two today's special."

"Coming up," Nimue screamed from the back of the kitchen, "Jungkook had come up with today's menu."

Yuna almost face-palmed herself. What creative menu had her brother thought out now?

When Nimue placed the two plates before her. She widened her eyes at it, "Ribs? On a stick?"

Nimue nodded, "Cleanest way or a way to minor dirtying your hands."

Yuna stared at the plates in disbelief. There was a small bowl on the plate with water. "Sure . . ." was all she managed to say.

She had to give it to Jungkook. Jungkook was getting more creative with his restaurant even if she did not like his ideas.

She took the plates, walking carefully over to the table. This time - she didn't want to make a fool of herself.

*****

"Jin, you were the one who said you wanted to go out and talk about it. Talking does help," Namjoon said softly, "Usually, you will get the answer you are looking for."

Jin bit his lip. Yes . . . He had invited Namjoon to go out, but his attitude towards the poor waitress. There was no excuse for his behaviour. "Let me just go-"

"You haven't told me what Tae, Yoongi and Hoseok got you into," Namjoon said quickly to make him stay . . . a while longer.

The corners of Jin's lips curved upwards. "They decided with my financial board that there will be interviews for the new star for the company's movies."

"Now that sounds interesting. Please, tell me more."

"And I will be staring in my movies . . ." Jin said it sounded ridiculous when he said it out loud. Laughter burst from Namjoon. "Do you - have any idea - how many women will be pitching for that interview for you?"

Jin blinked a few times. Namjoon was kidding, surely. "You are joking? I don't think there would be many."

"Let us make a small bet, Jin." Namjoon was grinning at him now. He didn't like the sound of that.

"What bet are you suggesting?" Jin asked worriedly. Namjoon leaned forward, "I will say that there are many ladies who would be going, and before the shoot of your movie is done, you will be in love with one of them."
