"will i ever be the first priority? will i ever be the most important person to anyone," cobalt dye soaked the porcelain pale flesh of harry's pinched cheeks, splattering in aching drops of agonized tears on the fabric of draco's slytherin sweater. his heart burned at the sight of his defeated eyes, weathered into weary abalone gray. "if i can't love them the way they want me to? if i'm...broken?"

draco pressed a chaste kiss to his forehead, and carefully, with rosy fingers and touches that turned to butterflies, brushed away his stringy midnight hair. it occurred to him, sitting there with his arms around harry's small shoulders, and painting pretty patterns upon his skin to soothe the deep rooted pain, that harry was his best friend.

his very best friend. and he loved him, just as truly as anyone else, even if their hearts didn't beat to the same rhythm. he and harry were special in the best of ways. they were gorgeous.

"you're not broken harry. you are beautiful and valid and deserve to feel both loved and safe," he whispered to him under the shadow of the deep azure night tinged with blackness, his words falling in soft petals upon harry's skin. "and you have me. until every last star in the galaxy dies, you have me. and i love you," a sly, playfully suggestive wink left harry giggling against his shoulder. and draco's heart just swelled.
