Chapter 10
There was a polite knock on your door practically the second that you hung up with Soph. You had a feeling whoever was on the other side had been waiting for you to get off the phone. Which led to the question of how they knew you were on the phone to begin with.
You climbed off your unmade bed and went to the door. You only cracked it open an inch or two. You didn't want whoever it was to see how little you'd gotten done while you'd been lost in a panic attack. You thought your panic attack was quite warranted, given everything that had happened, but you didn't know any of the team well enough to know if they would agree with you on that point, or just think you weak and useless.
You wouldn't blame them for that assumption. It would be accurate. You were just a normal human girl. No super soldier serum, no fancy technology, no spy training, no gamma radiation poisoning, not godly powers... well, not until that very day.
Yeah, a much longer panic attack was definitely warranted. But right that moment, you had to see who was on the other side of the door.
When you opened the door that couple of inches, you saw a green shirt. That wasn't helpful, so you turned your gaze up and up and up until you saw Loki's face. He looked concerned. "Drotning? Are you alright?" He asked gently. You could feel his concern through the bond between you. That was new.
Somehow, Loki got the door opened wider and saw all your moving boxes. He could also see your completely unmade bed. You'd been up here for hours and gotten absolutely nothing done.
"N-not really," you said softly and stepped back so he could come in. You knew that you couldn't lie to Loki. He was the god of lies. Gods, you were such a fangirl over the Avengers. You knew far too much about them and definitely were never going to admit to writing fanfiction about them. That would be ridiculous. And embarrassing.
Loki took the invitation and stepped into your suite, closing the door behind him. He hesitated and you saw in his eyes and expression that he wanted to comfort you, but you didn't know each other at all, much less well enough for him to gather you in his arms to offer you physical comfort. You felt the desire to do so through the bond. The soulmate bond was new for both of you.
So he changed tactics. "What can I do to help?" He asked instead.
"I... there's so much," you babbled and blushed at spilling your anxieties to a literal god.
"I understand, drotning," Loki soothed. "Your whole life has been turned on its head," he really did sound like he understood and your felt yourself relax. "How about I help you unpack these boxes?" He suggested.
You blushed and fidgeted with your hands. "You... wouldn't mind?"
Loki chuckled "Of course not. It gives me the excuse to spend some time away from my idiot brother and get to know you better,"
Of course, Loki wanted to know his soulmate better. You didn't blame him. You wanted to get to know him better too. Perhaps working together to unpack your things would give you the time together to do that.
