Christianity is a relationship.

Please stop believing that it is religion. Get that idea out of your head. I honestly don't like like saying I am a Christian because people always associate it with religion. I would just rather say I have a relationship with God, but that is honestly too long 😂. Or, I would like to say, "I am a follower of the Way" but again it is just a long sentence. I have also grew up just saying Christian.

Anyways, reasons why Christianity is a relationship:

1. God wants conversation with us.
My proof to this statement is Numbers 22:9. Balaam is summoned by king Balak to curse the Israelites. My main point is that when the men came to Balaam, God asked Balaam, '"Who are these men with you?"' God is all knowing, so He knows who these men are but still uses conversation. There are so many other times when God has conversation with His people.

2. God desires to be with us.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth..." This is the account of creation from Genesis 1. Shortly after we have the fall of humans and in Genesis 3:8, the scripture tells us that the Lord God was walking in the garden to find Adam and Eve. Let us not forget conversation as God asked where His people where they were even though He already knew 🤷. Also, don't forget that there are more in scriptures where God desires to be among His people.

3. God desires obedience.
This one is difficult for people. We all have trouble to be obedient, but I see this as part of a relationship. This is especially a relationship with a parent or guardian. God is described as God the Father.
A guardian or parent tells you to stop jumping on the bed. What do you do? You jump on the bed and bump your head. There is a whole song of it. In the same way, God tells you not to do something because it can lead to destruction or injury. People tend to forget this part and believe that God just sets aside a bunch of rules for no reason.
This is something that I have been taught that makes a whole lot of sense, my obedience to God is like train tracks. The train can go anywhere it wants as long as it has the tracks. In the same way, you obey the rules God set in place to move forward. If you get off the tracks, you either stop, slow down, or just head straight for destruction. I am not saying going straight will be easy as there will be obstacles in the way. Just have faith and keep moving forward towards Jesus and you will reach the goal. When you reach the goal, the reward will be great.
