Chapter 9: Arguments and Fear
Ink stared blankly at his friend for a minute trying to prosses how the other had figured that out, but quickly decided to play dumb and give the other his best half confused look before saying "What are you talking about Dream? I'll openly admit to being so tired at the meeting that I basibly went emotional blank for a while. But I still had them then and now. Maybe you just couldn't pinpoint my emotions at the meeting, after all there was a lot of negative feelings going on at the time that could have masked what I was feeling at the time. And for all you know the same thing could be happening now, there are a lot of people around right now feeling a lot of different things, maybe it's just getting in the way of you noticing what I'm feeling."
The "Embodiment of Positivity" gave the Creator a dull, unimpressed, "are you really going this rout" look before saying "your partially right Ink, your emotions would have probably been dulled out at the meeting by all the negative ones in the air. But I still should have felt a change in your emotions when you went from quote on quote blank to tired or at least I should have felt a sudden absence of your particular emotional feel, but I didn't feel a change at all. I didn't notice it at first in part because of the swirling emotions at the meeting and because I was, and still am, mad at you." He stops for a moment to give Ink a glare before continuing saying "but after thinking on it for a bit while trying to get in contact with you I realised something wasn't right. And I'm only getting more proof of that fact now, because I know how you normally feel Ink. Your emotions always feel more raw them everyone else's."
Ink just watched the other wondering if the he was going to actually figure out that he didn't have his vials, his soul and emotions, with him. It wouldn't be to far of a stretch for the other to figure out, after all Dream knew he didn't have a traditional soul and that his vials were his soul, and it had already been pointed out earlier, though then again for Dream it had been a few days, that he was wearing his jacket like a normal person would and not around his waist. It wouldn't be to hard for the other to notice that, yeah, his jacket covered where his sash would be so what's to say that he was wearing it?
Ink didn't say anything though as he watched Dream continue to glare at him for a few minutes, long enough that their orders were done and delivered to their table before the other even stopped glaring. Without a though Ink opened the box with his donuts inside checking to make sure that there were the right amount of muffins, he didn't want to leave and find out when he got back to the doodle sphere that his order had been messed up.
It was as Ink was doing this that Dream seemingly figured out what was wrong and asked with a glare "Ink do you have your paint vials on you?"
The creator didn't reply right away as he counted out his muffins under his breath till he got to 12, after which he finally said blankly "Does it matter if I have them or not?"
To which Dream replied as he slamed his hands down on the table "It does matter Ink! You need them to feel anything! You need them to live a proper life!"
Ink didn't even skip a beat as he says "Emotions though get in the way of proper thought and reasoning though. For example at the councle meeting everyone was either so mad or fearfull of what had happened that they didn't even bother to try and think through the possibilities beyond their narrow minded belief." Ink had planed on stopping there, but decided that he needed to find out if his thoughts from earlier we're true. "Or how angry you get at Error for seemingly no reason. I know why I get mad at Error, but you have no reason to hate the other in my mind beyong what I have told you. I would think that you would have been trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and trying to learn why he destroyed from the start, yet you don't do anything like that."
Which earned an explosive reaction from Dream who yelled "because that freaking glitch deserves to be treated like the world destroyer he is!!"
This outburst caused the entirty of the Cafe to go quiet and stare at the two skeletons in the corner as the happy atmosphere seemed to openly drain from the room. Ink ignored the shift though, not being effected due to his current lack of being able to feel emotions, as he asked "why are you letting this fact effect you so much then?"
Earning a reply Ink was not expecting from the bearer of hopes and dreams "Why shouldn't I hate the guy who caused my entire world to be fliped on it's head by corrupting my brother!"
This caused Ink to freeze as he processed this information, Dream thought that Error was the cause of Nightmare eating the dark apples, something Ink knew for a fact the other couldn't have done. Leading Ink to ask "what makes you think it was Error?"
"I found him in my AU after everything went down in front of the Tree of Feelings! Nightmare was fine before I left to help some of the vilagers, and that rotten glitch is the only the person that was around that I didn't know or trust with my brother! He had to have been the reason!" Dream yelled at the Creator as he slamed his down on the table once again causing it to gain acrack through it's surface.
Ink stared at his friend for a bit before saying in his currently monotone voice "Dream, Error couldn't have been the cause, I was battling him half-way across the multiverse when the apple insident happened."
This seemingly caused the guardian of dreams to freeze in shock for a good few minutes as asked "half way across the multiverse?"
"Yes," ink replied looking the other state in the eye "we were in Swaplust fighting for the fate of the world for hours when it happened Dream. There is no possible way for Error to have been the cause unless he can somehow be in two places at once. Whitch is very unlikely."
This information seemed to make the other go pale as his eyelights flickered out and he mumbled to himself, though Ink was more then close enough to hear it, "what have I done..." Before moving away from the table seemingly planing to run away.
Ink stopped the bearer of positivity though by asking "what did you do?"
Ink didn't get a response, instead Dream just kept looking away from him not saying anything as he looked at his own hands as if he was seeing something that only he could see. The creator desided to try something different to get his friend focus back and asked "What was the council's decision?"
this seemingly got Dreams attention who said to himself in a murmer "oh, right... That's what we are here to talk about... I can go fix the problem in a bit." Before replying to. Ink in a normal speaking voice "we'll the council actually decided on a stealth operation, they want you to get into Nightmare's territory and observe what he and his team are doing so that we can figure out if there is anything we should be preparing for them to do. A majority of the Sanses still think they are preparing for war and the want to deside if they should be preparing for it as well."
Ink thought over the decision before noding in agreement that it was porbably the best decision to do, this would make sure that if there was something to be feared then they would have time to prepare a counter measure. In addition if there was nothing to be worrying about then this mission would at least gives Ink some insite into the lives of Nightmare and his gang, after all if he knew so little about Error then it was entirely likely he knew about the same amount about Nightmare and his gang. Leading Ink to reply "makes sense, so what do they want the timeline to be? Like do they want me to start today or within the week?"
To which Dream replied "I think it would be best if you can start as soon as you can, we don't know what Nightmare and his gang are up to and would be best to get Intel on their movements as soon as we can. "
Ink noded at this before getting up and grabing he two coffees and his box of donuts as he said to Dream "then I should probably get started on this assignment today, first though I have someone else to meet up with so it will be a few hours before I start." Earning a quick nod from Dream as the creator started to head out of the shop. Before he left though Ink called back to the embodyment of positivity "oh, and Dream I if I'm right about what you did, I think it would be best if you returned Error's positive emotions."
Ink then left the shop leaving behind a shocked Dream and a completely confused coffee shop as he headed back to the his entery alleyway and opened a portal back to the doodle sphere. Upon entering his home AU the creator stopped noticed that his emotions didn't come back to him right like they had the last time he had left Error's vasinity or whenever he actaly did leave his paint vials in the Doodle Sphere. He didn't put much thought into the fact though thinking that Error was just roaming around somewhere out of range for his soul to do it's job. So, he started walking and called out "Hey Error, I'm back with breakfast!"
After an hour or two of searching though Ink found no signs of the injured destroyer being in the Doodle sphere at preset, leading to him guessing that the other had taken a trip outside his realm. Which he couldn't blame the other for since even through the Doodle sphere was very loving, it could get overpowering for some people, Dream for example passed out the first time he came here from the sudden overpowering love. So, with a shrug Ink sent a spark of magic through his world asking for a poral to where even Error had gone, quickly getting pulse of accepting magic back in reply as well as a poral to his next destination. Ink then entered the portal with out a thought, baked goods and coffee in hand to try a second attempt as talking with Error.
-during Ink's whole exchange with Dream and the subsequent search through the Doodle sphere by Ink-
Running, he was running.
He had to get away.
Thy were chasing him.
He could hear their screams.
"MURDERER!"
"GLITCH!"
"YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE ALIVE!"
"FREAK OF NATURE!"
"KILLER!"
"USELESS CREATURE!"
He wanted it to stop.
HE WANTED TO PAIN TO STOP!
He DiDN't ChoOsE For ThiS to be hIs FATE!
...why was this his fate...
He looked back as he ran to see the after images of every single soul he had killed chasing him with out end.
He knew what the would do it hey caught up, and he didn't a want another beating.
He was already in so much pain.
So, he returned to looking strait ahead planing to keep running away from Th constraint reminders of his LOVE.
He didn't get far though as he crashed into something infront of him causing him to crash to the floor. He looked up as he got back his bearings to see one of the few people he did not want to see. DREAM. Who stared at him with the same blank eyes all the other aberrations as he said "You are the reason I lost my brother."
"b-but, i-I-" he said before being cut off before he even got out his full sentence.
"STOP LYING!" The god of positivity yelled as suddenly drew their bow and shot him through his chest earning a scream of pain from his as the other aberrations finally caught up and started screaming even more insults as they started to beat on him as well.
It was as the beating reached it's climax that Error bolted upright with a short scream as he in his still patialy asleep state that he rolled off the bed and scrabled away from it before ending up on his knees, hiss usable hand just baily keeping his from falling to the floor as he started throwing up his gut. It was few minutes before Error got ahold of himself and stoped throwing up, and it was only after getting his breathing under control that he noticed the presence of the Doodle sphere projecting an aura of care, security, and something Error couldn't identify.
The strong aura sent a shiver through the destroyer though as it unintentionally heightened his awareness of how weak he felt, and heightened his fight or flight response as he quickly tries to open a portal to one of his few safe places, not noticing the Doodle sphere took over supplying the magic for the portal long before it even took more an ounce of his very limited magic reserves. Once the portal opened Error quickly steped through and closed it right behind him as he sat down near the edge of a cliff and lifted his eyes up to skies of his one of his safe spaces, Outertale.
He spent wha he could only assume was a few hours sarng at the beautiful skies above, relaxed as he could be with no negative emotions beraging his soul at this point in time. Then as Error was looking at one particular contilion something sparked in his soul that he didn't recognize leaving him sitting their in confusion. Within seconds though it came back stronger as well as a plethora of other thing that slowly started to overwhelm him as he recognise what he was feeling was.
Positive emotions.
Joy, love, hope, admiration, pride, and so much more.
It was overwhelming.
It brought his anxieties back with a vengeance and sent him sprawling over onto three of his four limbs as his body puked in rection to the overwhelming emotions, completely missing the sound of the opening portal and the gasp that followed as someone walked through.
