NMT: Justice League
OK, I'm a little behind on this, I saw this movie last week, but haven't had the chance to post my feelings for this movie until now, so my apologies!
"Justice League" is a 4.96/5 for me, I think critics kinda hit this one a bit too hard, but I see why it exists.
This movie is an absolute redemption from what "Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice" wound up being. It's got a lighter feel, more humor, and very fun to watch! It works as a patch-up to "BvS," because they often reference back the movie, making sure you didn't totally forget it, and then it basically fills anything that was wrong with that particular subject, with something more sensible.
If that made sense? 😂😅
Character interaction was really awesome, the characters mingled well for their first time!
I know what you all want: a character breakdown!
OK, so let's start with Superman! This is no spoiler, in fact, DC has even given up on trying to keep him as a surprise because of several marketing messups. They just never revealed how he came back to life!
Anyway, this movie really allowed Superman to show his character off more. Yes, he's an overpowered mess, but truth be told everyone, we all love that thunderous sound Superman makes when he knocks someone out, the cleverness of using his ice breath, and of course, that dashing smile. It's hard to turn these down. This movie lightened up Superman, and for those who disliked Henry Cavill's rendition of the character, he did it right. Correction: the studio did it right. This was our beloved flagboy!
~And by the way, his first scenes..."interacting" with Wonder Woman and Batman...priceless. Just priceless screenplay. If you're not gonna watch the movie, just go find some clips online of those scenes to convince you otherwise.
Wonder Woman....There is nothing to say; Gal Gadot was brilliant. Moving on.
Ezra Miller as Flash. I'll admit, I was super skeptical of him playing Flash, and I told you guys earlier on too. When the trailers came out, that's where I was pinned to the fence. After this movie, he's awesome now. Miller proved worthy of his portrayal and I can't wait to see how far he goes!
Ray Fisher's Cyborg...
So, my brother is a fan of that horrid "Teen Titans Go!" 😝
~I understand that show is meant to be a parody, but I very much dislike it.
For months, I've been telling my brother that I SO CANNOT WAIT FOR HIM TO WATCH THIS MOVIE. BECAUSE I KNEW THIS CYBORG WAS GOING TO BE THE ONE WE ALL KNOW AND LOVE FROM THE ORIGINAL "TEEN TITANS." SO WELL DESERVED (more in the upcoming spoilers somewhere ahead of all this)!
Jason Momoa's Aquaman was perfect. For all of his haters out there:
Because what you know of Aquaman, is wrong. Comic fans everywhere that this is Aquaman.
~Just overall, Superman and Aquaman stole the show! 😂
And lastly, Ben Affleck as Batman...
I gotta say...the more movies I see Batfleck in, the more comfortable I'm getting. From the start, I knew Ben Affleck was playing the character true, the character more accurate to the comics. But there was a vibe surrounding him that was keeping me a bit uneasy. However, like with Henry Cavill and Superman, it wasn't Affleck's fault, it was studio direction.
Now that the movie was rewritten correctly, Affleck really solidified his spot as being "Batman." With all the cool gadgets, and fighting, and deep voice, and even deeper stories: he got it. Welcome, Affleck. 😏👏🏼
And for our ever-so-interesting villain, Steppenwolf. Well, this is where I deprived the movie of a full "5."
It wasn't entirely Steppenwolf that was the problem; the movie could have actually been longer. I know this movie underwent heavy reshoots, but it wasn't finalized enough for it to not feel rushed. This is what it feels like. And after watching the movie, you are left wondering "Is there more (besides the post-credit scenes)?"
For once, DC stepped out of the darkness and decided to give us a thrill ride for a movie! And truly, it was fun to watch! And for once, I wanted to be there longer, but not for more action. I wanted more character interaction, I wanted more story, and that's what made this not perfect.
I think critics were a bit harsh on ratings, because this definitely was a step up from before! However, they did need more story, especially with the villain. Granted, they give him a solid intro in the beginning, but I wanted to know more about him.
But that's also where it gets interesting and clever.
You see, watching "Justice League" actually feels a lot like reading a comic book or watching a generic episode on TV. It's like that kinda thing where it looks like they do this every day, like it's their regular job, and at the end of it all, they move on! And we all love that, because we do want to know what's gonna happen next, because this episode/issue was fun!
This is what "Justice League" was like! And now I can't wait for the next movies, because now it seems that so much more excitement awaits!
And that's another thing, Steppenwolf himself in the comics isn't that big of a major character, but he is still a big nip in the butt! In the movie, they show that. They don't give him much story (although, they deprived us a little, but critical info), but his defeat will indeed lead to bigger things!
I loved how this movie combined religion/mythology and science though! No discrimination, no hate towards the other group, I loved the respect for one another and how they co-existed. Especially since Steppenwolf is from space, but Amazonians (Greek) and Atlanteans (Roman?) knew him (more in the spoilers)! So cool...Hey, kinda reminds me of one of my stories...
(Shameless advertising: Brought to you by "Legend Of The Black Phoenix!" 😉)
Overall, this was a good movie. Still not perfect, there was so much more they could've done, but, good is better than bad.
It's like wanting an A+, but you get a B+/A-. You've been getting D's for a while, but now it's better!
Please note, stay for ALL THE CREDITS, if you haven't seen. Don't let your friends/family convince you otherwise; there are two scenes to look for. Enjoy! ☺
That's kinda what "Justice League" is like! Now, there is more excitement, but those are spoilers...so....:
SPOILER ALERT! JUST VOTE AND/OR COMMENT HERE AND GOODBYE IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT!
IF YOU HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE OR DO WANT SPOILERS, CONTINUE BELOW ME:
Are they gone?
OK, OMG THIS MOVIE HOWEVER REALLY DID WELL AT TEASING THE FUTURE!
For starters, when they were doing the Steppenwolf introduction, THE OTHER OUTER SPACE BEINGS THAT CO-EXISTED WAS THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS.
OH MY GOD, YES! THIS WAS AWESOME! And there were rumors he was in this movie, but they never said how...
I don't think so though, unless the reshoots were that heavy enough to cut out an entire character. 😥
Doubt it though, because that may have easily been half the movie, probably delaying it further.
But, let it be noted, the speculation of Green Lantern appearing in this movie started when they advertised for Aquaman a while back. It was with this poster:
A
t the time, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, and Cyborg were straight up confirmed for the full cast heroes (until they blew Superman's cover three months before release).
Even with Superman though, that's six members...To make it stranger, when people started noticing this numerical oddity, DC started advertising this poster less, as if they realized they messed up something...Hm.
Now, they didn't stop entirely, because one of the people of the movie claimed that it was just to advertise Aquaman- where "The Seven," actually refers to Earth's seven seas...
Clever move, DC. Clever move......
So anyway, there are two stingers in the movie: mid-credits and post-credits. The mid-credits was a brilliant nod to a popular comic book from the older days. It was The Flash vs. Superman in a race across the world. That was a really cool reference I must say, this movie just really felt like a comic book! They didn't show them finishing the race, but I like having to know anyway that this was achieved.
The post-credits scene...
My heart melted...
DEATHSTROKE IS IN THIS MOVIE OMG I WAS SO HAPPY TO KNOW HE WASN'T CUT THANK U THANK YOU THANKOOOOOOO!
He met Lex Luthor on a boat (DUDE BROKE OUTTA PRISON SOMEHOW) and they were talking about "making a league of their own..."
Let me tell you, theories went berserk in my mind!
The only "League" led by Lex Luthor in the comics, was the "Injustice League."
And so far, the only villains introduced to us were Luthor, Deathstroke, and The Joker...
And Black Adam.
I don't wanna go too deep into him, but let's just say he's a really bad dude (who will be played by The Rock) who has the power of electricity, and is basically as powerful as Superman! Yeah, that's gonna be sick broskis!
Rumor has it, Black Adam will not debut in his planned solo movie first- instead, he will come out in "Suicide Squad 2..."
A bit irrelevant, I know, but a potential plot has been rumored as well where the Squad will this time have to locate "a very powerful weapon," and it will be Black Adam (and they won't know until they're there).
Quite interesting, and even better, Deathstroke is known to have participated with the Squad in the comics- but only once. It was in that same comic, he betrayed them to complete a separate mission of his own, he only used the Squad to get to his prize easier...
My guess is, Luthor sends Deathstroke with the Squad to retrieve Black Adam, and instead of following what the Squad was to do, Deathstroke will betray them there, and take Black Adam to Luthor for recruitment...
And who knows, The Joker might have part in it too, considering he is actually a crucial Injustice League member!
Anywho, Deathstroke being in the "Justice League" was amazing, even if for less than a minute, and overall, this movie has got me pumped for the future. DC really amped their game right here! They need to keep improving like this if they wanna play on Marvel's level- and unfortunately, they don't have much time. Come on, DC!
