sana's mumma gave him water and they all settled down in the living room.

"kaise ho beta app." mumma asked starting the conversation.

"i am all good aunty and thank you dinner pe bulane ke lie." sid said smiling.

"areh isme tank you kaisa. sana ke dost ho to itna to banta hi hai na. aur batao kuch apne bare mein." mumma said.

"well yeh jo company hai vaise to papa ne set kiya tha and he took it to hights aur ab maine take over kiya. working from 4 years in this as the head." sid said.

"this is nice. maine pada hai, taking over a company that was topping the market aur usko aur uchaiyon pe le jana, it must be hard," mumma said.

"mushkil to nhi but hard working kehe sakta hu. it was my dad's dream to see me on the top aur apne dad ka dream toh poora karna hi tha so just like every other child i also made my dad's dream mine." sid said the last line looking towards sana and noticed her expressions change like she was not getting comfortable with the conversation. and it was confirmed when her mother changed the topic immediately.

"lets have dinner. you must be hungry." mumma said hastily and everyone nodded and proceed towards the dining table.

"wohoo! itna sab. aunty itna sab kuch banane ki kya zaroorat thi." sid said looking at no. of dishes on the table.

"beta meheman ki khatirdari to karni chaiye na." mumma said serving food.

"hayee app kitne sweet ho aunty. i am sure yeh khana bhi bohot hi accha hoga apne itne pyar se jo banaya hai." sid said smiling at her.

"ho gaya chalu." sana mumbled who was sitting right next to sid and this was heard by him.

"you said something." sid whispered for only her to listen.

"han, yehi ki apni over sweet baton se meri maa ko door rakho, khana kao aur dafa ho jao." sana said for only him to hear and giving a sarcastic smile.

"ohhh, baby u re such a teekhi mirchi." sid said smiling to which sana rolled her eyes and made herself busy in food. they all had dinner with little talking and laughing and giggling. after dinner they again got settled down in the living area.

"so beta kuch apni family ke bare mein batao." mumma asked sid.

"aunty meri family mein mom dad and a sister hain. mom dad lives in punjab and sis abhi US gayi hui hai padhne." sid answered.

"oo acchha" mumma said.

"vaise aunty i wanna thank you for such an amazing dinner. app bohot accha khana banate ho. sana ke sare friends boot lucky hai ki unhe aisa kana khane milta hai." sid said smiling and sana rolled her eyes at him for being over dramatic.

"areh kahan beta. yeh to apne dosto ko ghar lati hi nhi hai. infact bat tak nahi hui hai iske dosto se meri ajj tak. bas ek anu hi hai iski best friend jise janti hu aur jo ghar ati hai" mom said.

"oo so iska matlb sirf best friends are allowed in the house." sid said looking towards sana.

"only my best friend anu is allowed. u were allowed only for today just for my mom to see and relax that i am safe." sana said listening to which sid's face fell. he felt change in her behaviour from yesterday. 

"shehnaz yeh kya tareeka hai mehemano se bat karne ka." mumma scolded.

"meheman, dost hai yeh to mera. aur dosto mein to yeh sab chalta hai. ab masti dosto ke sath nahi karungi to kiske sath karungi." sana said mocking a laugh. but sid was sure that is was not just fooling around. since he came he can fell weirdness in her behaviour.

"areh its okay. mazak masti is common between us. accha ab mujhe chalna chahiye." sid said getting up.

"are ruku na thori der time hi kitna hua hai aye hue." mumma requested.

"nahi bas aunty vo.."

"arehh jane do na mumma. he is a busy person. itni badi company ke malik hai. you should go and rest. kal vaise bhi ek kafi badi meeting hai." sana said getting up from the sofa. the situation was getting weird.

"ummm..accha bachha ate rehena milne. sana ja neeche tak chorhke aja baccha." mumma said.

"main kya chorke aun yeh koi 4 sal ka baccha hai." sana said and laughed.

"its okay main chala jaunga." sid said. sana's mom eyed her son to drop him till the car and he did so. after they were out mumma turned towards sana and glared at her angrily.

"yeh kya tareeka hai kisi se bat kane ka sana. tameez bhool gayi hai kya sari." mumma said angrily.

"common yaar maa. aisa bhi kya kiya. dost hai itna to chalta reheta hai." sana said and walked towards her room.

"i don't care tere aur tere dosto mein kya chalta hai but ghar par kisiko bulake unki insult karna this is not at all acceptable. you will apologize to him tomorrow or else don't come back home. i hope this is clear." mumma said with finality before she went in her room.

sana went inside her room and locked the door. she sat on the bed and closed her eyes and exhaled a deep breath which he didn't knew she was holding.

"i just hate myself. he is being so good to me aur main. i don't deserve his attention and affection." sana said to herself and thought about the previous night when she decided to distance herself from him.

after ending the call with sid sana went to bed when her phone rang. it was anu her best friend.

"hey babes. wassup yaar ajj kal kahan khoi hai tu. college bhi ati hai aur classes attend karke chali jati hai. no calls no msg. chal kya raha hai." anu started as soon as sana picked up the phone.

"saas to lele toofan mail. aur main kahan goom houngi. bas kam mein busy reheti hu aur kya."

"really kam mein busy hai tu." 

"han aise kyu pooch rahi hai."

"common yaar ab mujhse mat chupa. bata na kab hua kaise hua."

"kya bol rahi ai be tu. kya hua"

"accha ji mujhe shanpanti. mujhe to lata tha ki tu mujhse kuch nhi chupati lekin tune to mujhe paraya kar diya."

"abe aee dramebaaz kya bole ja rahi hai. mujhe sach mein kuch samajh nhi aa raha hai. saf saf bol."

"kya din aa gaye hai. meri best friend ka boyfriend hai aur mujhe hi nhi pata. seriously yaar i am very disappointed ki tere boyfrind ke bare mein mujhe kisi aur se pata chalega."

"what..what..boyfriend kya boyfriend. mera koi boyfriend nhi hai. kisne ki yeh bakwass tujhse aur tu...tune man bhi li."

"vo raj ne tujhe venice mall mein kisi ladke ke sath dekha sunday ko. aur tu ajj kal zada bat wat nhi karti. i mean jis ladki ke sare projects assignmesnts time pe hote the she is late aur sunday, you don't  even spend sunday with me as you wanted to be with yourself, tu kisi ladke ke sath ghoom rahi thi to hume laga ki.."

"anu vo...vo mera boss hai. we became friends and he asked me to go out. usne pooch pooch ke itna irritate kiya ki maine han bol diya. that's it. we are not dating. projects office ke kam ke wajah se delay hue. aur anu out of everyone you know me the best. i don't believe in relationships and all. then how you believed in all these crap.

"i m sorry yaar. jab mujhe pata chala to mujhe bohot khushi hui that you have someone in life. and sanu plz bura mat manio but plz get this out of your head that because one raltionship fucked up all will. sabko apni life mein kisi na kisi ki zaroorat hoti hai. don't be so harsh on yourself."

"is bat par bat karke kuch nhi hoga. and i don't need anyone. accha i am very tired and i want to sleep. kal college mein milti hu bye."

"bye"

with is they hung up the call. but all what anu said was an eye opener for sana not regarding relationships but what was happening with her.

"this is not right. i am losing the grip on myself. jab anu bol rahi thi toh ajeeb sa laga. main relationship ke lie tayar nahi hu. i can't. i just can't. how could this happen main to hamesha apne upar controll rakhti thi. mein sidhart ke samne kyun nahi controll kar pati khud ko. he don't deserve me. i am way too broken. mujhse nahi hoga. aur use to already mere liye feeling hein. nahi nahi, this..this can't happen. i have to maintain distance from him. i can't let him feel for me more. i can't..i...i have to do something..yeah ab se i have to be that ill mannered sana. i have to push him away..yeah.."

thinking so sleep took over her.
