Chapter-17
"I think we should leave", Adam said grabbing my wrist.
I looked at him and he wasn't gonna take no for an answer. I knew something was off here and I wanted to stop Adam, to stay and know more. But I was still shocked to what we were just told. So I walked back along with Adam, Carter following us.We stopped once we reached the parking.
"We should have asked her something", I said, leaning against the car.
"Lue are you insane, did you look at her.
"Do you really think she was saying the truth, that she lives there.", he said.
"He is right Lucy, we have been going there since we were 14, did you ever see her before", Carter said.
I nodded, as they were fairly right. The three of us went home as it was almost half day and we couldn't go to school now.I reached home and then it struck me, Olivia was in school today, she had to confess everything to Carter. I called Ryan to know what happened in school today. He told me that Olivia told him everything and said she was ready to tell Carter everything.
"She said she will do it tom", he said.He then asked me where were we the whole day and I told him the truth, how we met at the cave and how Adam had followed me. He laughed when I told him how I had bitten Carter, and the poor soul now had a swollen eye and a bitten arm. I didn't tell him about the lady though. She wasn't important now, was she?
Next morning I woke up with the mindset to take over my life. So I had an amazing shower, an amazing breakfast and since it was a Saturday I planned on playing FIFA for a few hours. My parents were at their office fixing up meetings with their clients.I order a pizza for lunch. And how in the world can you enjoy your pizza alone when you've got friends like Ryan.
He came over to my house even before the ordered pizza. He sat on the couch giving me his best smile.
"Oh before I forget, here is the event planning documentation, Adam and I worked on it the previous night and it is complete with the structure planning and complete finance explanation", he said.
"Wow, impressive, I'll submit it in the office on Monday, with the names of the volunteers", I said.
"The posters are complete?"
"Not yet, I have to pick up the volunteers on Monday, easy peasy", I said.
The bell rang and there was my pizza, and now I'll have to share it with him."Why did you have to come today?", I looked at him, after sending the pizza delivery boy with the money.
"You wanted to have it by yourself? I'm just helping you so that you don't gain the extra pounds", he said.
"Now be useful and switch the console on", I said as I needed someone to play FIFA with.
"Always at your service ma'am", he said.
After we were finished, he helped me out with the selection of the volunteers, that was being done on the school website. We mailed the selected candidates to meet us in the auditorium on Monday.
After Ryan left, I cleaned the lounge where we were sitting before and headed to my room to finish off the assignments. The night crept in and my parents came home to pick me up for dinner at a restaurant. Saturday Family Tradition.
I couldn't sleep that night thinking about the lady we met outside the abandoned asylum. I knew she knew something and I wanted to talk to her. So next morning I texted Adam to meet me at the golf course. After that I didn't view any of his messages as I knew he would ask me not to go. He called and I didn't pick the call.
His last message before I left home said, 'Wait in the parking, don't go in alone, please'.
And I knew he'd come.I called Olivia and she told me she would say the truth to Carter today, and is going to meet him. I asked her if she wanted me to be with her, but she refused saying she created the mess so she needs to clean it up alone.
I reached the golf course to see Adam's car parked there before me.
"How did you reach here before I did? ", I asked him confused.
"Its good that you informed me", he said.
"Whatever", I said making him chuckle.
We reached the spot, "our usual spot", and went towards the entrance of the asylum. This building has always scared us, because of the atmosphere that surrounds it. Tall dark live-less looking tress on every side and an old rustic colored building. It would give anyone the chills. We knocked on the door, and waited for a few minutes but no one answered.
I stood there thinking maybe all of that she said was a hoax.
