chapter forty two.
Enemies — Lauv
Sure, everyone was sure that Gia and Rebekah had burnt the last of the white oak, but, Gianina was still aching to be unlinked with the Mikaelson family. She had this odd feeling in the pit of her stomach that she needed to be, or else something bad would happen. Especially with Finn running around all of America with a death wish.
She watched with her cup off coffee as her brothers walked out of Alaric's house. A perk of living so close was knowing what they were up to at all times. A downside was becoming more and more paranoid by what they were doing.
Because it was already quite obvious they didn't care what happened to her.
"Come in." Gianina heard footsteps coming toward her door, which she now left unlocked.
If people were going to treat her apartment like a bus station, she might as well give them free access without having to get up to open the door.
"I love what you've done with the place, it's quaint." Sage noted as Gianina sat in her desk chair, her hot cup of coffee firm in her hands.
"I like it." The Salvatore girl shrugged lightly, raising a brow. "Mind if I ask why you are here?"
"Not at all, Rebekah and Klaus went to get Finn, they asked me to come get you too." The red headed woman answered simply, shrugging her shoulders.
"Are you their errand girl now?" Gia was amused as she sat up straight, a light smile on her face.
"I could say the same for you, which doesn't make sense considering you aren't the same insecure girl I met back then." Sage retorted, trying to deliver a burn that didn't exactly burn.
Gianina knew full and well who she was, and she never intended to be that girl again.
"Things change, people change." The Salvatore girl set her mug down on her desk, before reaching for her coat behind her chair.
Being a hybrid brought back all the pesky things she never had to worry about, like being cold.
"People don't change as much as everyone thinks they do." Sage paused for a moment as both women headed for the door. "Sometimes they had it in them already, they just didn't show anybody. Maybe that was the case for you."
"You didn't come to give me therapy, Sage. You came to take me to the Mikaelsons. How about we do that?" Gianina felt her teeth clench slightly, thinking about exactly why she had been holding back in life.
... and it all traced back to Katherine Pierce.
Gianina sighed as she heard the tussling going on outside. She leaned the top half of her body up against the stair railing as she watched Klaus come through the door. He threw Finn into the house, and right after Rebekah came in behind him.
"Hello, Finn." Sage ran down the stairs as fast as she could to the man, not having seen him in well... what felt like forever.
"Sage!" The eldest Mikaelson scrambled to his feet and met her at the bottom of the stairs, the two throwing themselves into each other's arms.
In a way, Gianina craved that type of love. Katherine had really been the only person she had been in love with her entire life, and every time she seen her after a long time, she felt uneasy. Like some disaster was bound to happen right after.
Which was almost always true.
"What do you know? True love prevails." Rebekah commented bitterly with a sigh.
"It does occasionally have it's uses." Klaus replied as Gianina descended the steps, obviously annoyed.
She would rather be sleeping, or eating ice cream.
"I was summoned, what could you all possibly want from me now?" The Salvatore girl questioned, passing the two love birds before making her way over to the duo that was Rebekah and Klaus.
"I need your blood, and your blessing, both of you." Niklaus turned to his little sister. "Where are you going?"
"I have some unfinished business with her brother. Ask Sage what he did to me, and you'll understand why retribution is in order." Rebekah explained simply before turning on her heel and walking off.
Gia didn't exactly have the strength to argue, or try and save her brother. She knew that the blonde would never actually kill Damon, and she always told herself unless whatever was happening with her brothers was life threatening, she wouldn't step in. Which was more than they ever did with her, anyways.
"No comments on that?" Klaus asked with a smile.
"None at all, aren't you the one who is always trying to prove to me my brothers have no sense of family?" The Salvatore woman asked, making her way over slowly to a table that had various different alcohols.
She poured herself a glass of whiskey, and made a glass of bourbon for Klaus.
"Touché." The hybrid man spoke with a grin, walking over as the Salvatore woman handed him a drink.
Both if them clinking their glasses together.
After having a drink or two with Klaus and giving him her blood, Gianina made her way home. She had been restless for hours, scared that in some way or form, things would go wrong with this unlinking spell. She just hoped whoever he had gotten to do it, knew what they were doing, and could get her free from the Mikaelsons.
Even though it was practically impossible for her to be free from Klaus.
As the Salvatore walked toward the grill, her eyes widened upon hearing a scream coming from the alleyway. She turned her attention toward the area and seen her younger brother running away from it, making her run after him. She eventually caught up, grabbing Stefan by his collar.
"What the hell did you do?" Gia questioned through gritted teeth, looking down to see him covered in blood.
The Salvatore's eyes were opened, and full of surprise at the sight of his sister. He looked as if he had seen a ghost, and in this situation, he had. He was prepared to say goodbye to his sister, if it meant that Klaus would die.
Stefan pushed out of Gianina's grasp and ran past her, leaving the Salvatore woman to sigh, and gather herself together. Gia made her way down the steps and into the alleyway, only to find Sage huddled over a dead body.
More specifically, Finn Mikaelson's dead body.
"No, no, no." The red headed woman repeated over and over.
"What happened?" Gia got down to her knees in front of the woman, looking down at Finn's hauntingly pale and dessicated face.
"Your brother, and his friends, they killed him." Sage answered through a fit of tears.
... and they were okay with killing her in the process.
Time and time again, Gianina Salvatore repeated the same mistakes, knowing the outcome would be miserable for her. She knew what the definition of insanity was, so she knew that anyone could call her insane, and maybe she was. Maybe she was a basket case, or a psycho, or just plain dumb.
... but was wanting to be loved that terrible?
"One minute!" She called out as someone knocked at the door, the woman rubbing tears away from her face.
She passed her hand over her clothes to flatten them out, and made her way to the door. She locked it again, and put extra coverage on the door. Now anyone who wanted to come in needed to be invited.
... and her brothers? Wouldn't get an invitation.
"Hello, love." Klaus spoke, a slight smile on his face as the door opened up. He tried to push his way inside, like always, but he was stopped by the barrier not allowing him to walk any further. "I see you've put your apartment in the name of someone else."
"I have." Gianina cleared her throat and stepped to the side. Maybe she would regret it later, but she needed someone, and he was here. "You can come in."
"You trust me enough to let me in? I see there is hope for our friendship yet." The Mikaelson wore a grin, stepping inside the house as the Salvatore woman closed it behind him. "As you've heard, your brothers have killed my brother, Finn. However, they are going to give me the remaining white oak stakes."
"What does that have to do with me?" Gia questioned, not wanting to hear about any of the Salvatores. "They've made it clear many times they don't love me, I just need to realize it for myself, right?"
"When they deliver the stakes to me, I intend to leave Mystic Falls." Klaus trailed off as he rubbed the back of his neck, pacing back and forth. "I'd like you to come with me."
Maybe this was what she needed to get away from all her problems?
Author's note:
It's been awhile since I updated but i'm planning to pay more attention to this book because Netflix is taking tvd off in my country.
What is one thing that has changed about Gia? And one thing you don't think she'll ever change? I'm curious.
Hope you enjoyed!
