chapter fifty three.

Never say never — The Fray

When Caroline asks for a favor, she's really telling you to do her a favor. Gianina learned that as she began to help her with things with the Miss Mystic Falls pageant. Truly, she didn't mind doing stupid simple things like this, it helped her relax, and in her mind, it was better doing this, than handling all the stupid vampire problems in the world.

Plus, it distracted her from the letting Jeremy kill a hybrid guilt.

"Stop, stop, stop!" Caroline ran over to Gia, who held an arrangement of flowers in her hands as she walked to the area specified to take them.

"Am I going the wrong way because i'm pretty sure—"

"No, you aren't. I'm pretty sure you're actually the only damn person who actually read this thing." The Forbes girl sighed and pressed her clip board against her chest. "I'm just stressed, and I need a friend."

"Are you sure i'm the best friend to destress you? I've got over one hundred years of stress." Gianina smiled lightly as she placed the floral arrangement on the table, seeing Caroline's lip form a slight pout. "What's wrong?"

"Well, this whole pageant is turning into a disaster, and on top of that, Stefan and Elena broke up because Elena has feeling for Damon, and now Stefan feels like he is going crazy and I want to help fix it but—"

"Woah, woah, woah, calm down. I didn't know any of this happened but, from what it sounds like, none of this is your problem. Let them handle their drama on their own, and focus on the pageant, which is going very well by the way." Gia leaned forward and placed a hand on the girls shoulder. "It's all going to be fine."

"Oh my god, you're so right." Caroline giddily placed a kiss against the girls cheek. "Thank you!"

The Forbes girl walked off, obviously in a much better mood.

"Glad I could help." Gianina spoke with a laugh, shaking her head.

At least she could help someone, cause she was terrible at helping herself.

The next day was the Miss Mystic Falls pageant, and like always, there had to be some drama. At least now, it was the stupid teenage kind, and not the supernatural kind. Except for the lingering tension between her, Tyler, and Hayley which she intended to fix right then and there.

Hopefully.

"I want to thank the judges for seeing last the fact that I am a raging bitch." Hayley spoke jokingly, wearing the crown for Miss Mystic Falls on her head.

"I don't know if that's a good idea, those girls competing will probably cut you for that." Gianina spoke as she walked closer, both of their smiles dropping at the sight of her.

"Too bad I have claws." The Marshall girl responded, raising a challenging brow. "What do you want?"

"Peace, I know that what happened was wrong, and I want to apologize for your friend." Gia spoke, almost ashamed of being a part of what happened. "He didn't deserve that."

"At least someone agrees." Hayley replied with the roll of her eyes, looking down at her fingernails.

"You know that you're my friend, Gia. Have been since we laid eyes on each other, and my uncle, he cared about you. I just don't get how you can always take your brothers side in everything, they don't do the same for you." Tyler shook his head, and it appeared as if he was more confused than angry.

Which, for now, was a good sign.

"I didn't know I had werewolf blood until less than a year ago. I am trying to embrace it the best I can but, being a vampire is all i've ever known. If you both could teach me, I think I could grow to see your side of things more." Nothing that was coming from her mouth was a lie, Gia wanted nothing more than to be completely in touch with her werewolf side.

It was just hard, seeing as the vampire one was constantly nagging at her.

"Seems like I help all the strays." Finally, a smile formed on Hayley's lips. "I'll help you but, one day, you owe me."

"Deal." Gianina replied, giving the girl a smile back.

"Come here." Tyler opened his arms, and Gia walked into them, feeling a calming sensation wash over her.

At least they didn't hate her anymore.

Gianina was becoming increasingly worried about Jeremy. Apparently, he missed escorting April Young, has been having dreams about killing vampires, and being a hunter was really getting to him. She knew it was probably best to keep her distance for now, seeing as Matt told her Jeremy specifically had a dream about killing her but, she was still nervous.

"You're tense, love. Care to share what's wrong?" Gia could detect that voice anywhere, rolling her eyes as she turned to face away from the lake and towards the man.

"You're nosy, Klaus. Nothing better to do in your thousand year life?" She asked with a raised brow.

"You wound me." The Mikaelson man replied with a slight chuckle. "Is this about your friend, Jeremy? Or perhaps, the teen drama with Stefan and Elena? The issues between you and our little hybrids? Your ever budding feelings for me?"

"There is so many things wrong with those questions." Gianina rolled her eyes, turning to face the water once again. "For one, Stefan and Elena's drama doesn't concern me, I learned not to get into doppelgänger mess."

"Ah, yes. You and Katerina Petrova, tragic love story, really." Klaus stood beside her, waiting for the woman to vent to him, confide in him. "You must miss her."

"Everyone thinks about their first love, doesn't mean anything more than that." Gia cleared her throat lightly and shook her head. "On to your next point, I have fixed the issues between Tyler, Hayley, the hybrids, and I."

"Wonderful, so they despise me, and love you." The Mikaelson man laughed, and shook his head. "So, during process of elimination, I know this is not about me, and I can safely assume it is about little Gilbert."

"I know he's going to resent me even more than he used to." The Salvatore woman heard clapping in the background, and assumed they had crowned a winner. She knew Caroline would be angry she had missed it. "He had a dream about killing me, you don't have those dreams about people you hate."

"Depends who you are." Klaus shoulder bumped the woman jokingly but, sensed the tension and nodded his head. "My apologies, I know this must be hard for you but, as you can tell, i'm not the type for friends. I can assure you, nobody, including a hunter such as Jeremy can fill any ill will towards you. I have tried, and everyone thinks me a monster."

"You are one, no offense ." Gianina spoke plainly, shrugging her shoulders. "You hurt people, even the ones who wouldn't hurt you in a million years. You lie, you cause drama, you kill... but, I can't hate you either."

Gia sighed, and handed her glass to the man before walking off, her mind more distraught than ever.

Gianina's door swung open as she continued to sip on her glass of wine. While her brothers always opted for bourbon, she preferred the taste of the wine. It required her to drink much, much more but, she didn't mind that, especially as she watched her cheesy romcom movies, and feasted on popcorn and pizza with Caroline.

She didn't expect her brother to be on the other side, tears in his eyes.

"Come in." She stepped to the side, and Stefan, instead of going in, threw himself into a hug with her. The woman tensed slightly, but relaxed and wrapped her arms around her brother, running her fingers through his hair.

"Stefan? What's going on?" Caroline stood up from her spot, placing her cup on the table.

"Let me guess, Elena problems." Gianina suggested, an eyebrow raised. "Get him the bourbon."

Caroline nodded and walked to the kitchen, where she prepared a glass for him.

"She moved into the house, to keep her distance from Jeremy like everyone else is trying to do." Stefan explained, standing up straight. "It's just her and Damon there."

"That doesn't mean it's over for you guys, you know? You and Elena... you're epic. Her and Damon are..." Caroline couldn't find the right words to express what she wanted to say.

"Not epic?" Gianina almost felt herself laugh as she guided her brother to her kitchen counter top, Caroline handing him his glass.

"She looked me in the eyes and told me to move on, there's nothing left for us in her eyes." Stefan spoke plainly, taking a sip of the bourbon in his hand.

Both girls exchanged a pitiful glance and sighed, knowing how painful all this must've been.

"Just... just promise me you won't stop looking for the cure." Caroline told him.

"I can't, even if I wanted to. Klaus wouldn't let me." Stefan explained, Gia tensing at the sound of his name.

"What does he care? He doesn't want it?" The Forbes girl spoke with a scoff.

"He wants to keep Elena human, so he can make more hybrids, right, Gia?" Stefan looked towards his sister, who simply nodded her head.

"Well, he's going to need them. Tylers almost got them all unsired." Caroline paused, as if she was finished speaking but there was something on her mind.

"That's good, they can do things they actually want to do now." Gianina concluded as she sipped her wine, she furrowed her brows as she seen Caroline still trying to form something in her brain. "What is it?"

"Oh my god. Oh my god." She repeated, straightening herself up and placing her hands on her face. "Gia told me Klaus kept asking about Damon and Elena, and I was trying to figure out why he was so intrigued by them... and know imm starting to figure it out! Think about it, every time Elena's had a problem, Damon has been the magic solution. Today, Elena was worried about Jeremy. Who swoops in and tells her to relax? Damon, and she listens. When Elena started feeding.. who said that she could only drink blood from the vein?"

The Salvatore siblings exchanged a glance and answered at the same time, "Damon."

"and when she tried to drink from animals, she couldn't keep it down. Blood bags, same thing. Name one vampire in the history of vampires who couldn't drink from a blood bag. Damon said she couldn't so, she couldn't. Damon likes the red dress, Elena likes the red dress. What if its possible? Damon's blood made her a vampire, right? It's rare but, it happens. What if this is one of those times? What if this is really happening?" Caroline asked.

"Elena's sired to Damon." Stefan concluded.

For Gianina, a regular vampire being sired to a regular vampire brought back far too many memories, all of which she wanted to forget.
