Falling in love is a dangerous game.
It's like landing on a tightrope.
One mistake, one failed step can lead to a world of hurt.
But sometimes, you're forced onto the tightrope.
And the tightrope gives you a sense of sturdiness.
And you feel okay.
But sometimes it's not as sturdy, and you still have have to be careful.
Try not to stand on a tightrope, try not to fall in love.
That's what I told myself.
I was falling in love with Colby Brock.
"Let's go y/n!" Colby shouted from the kitchen.
I was currently upstairs doing my hair.
I rolled my eyes as my crush wasted his breath on me.
I would take as long as I wanted. He couldn't change that.
I huffed as I set my brush down and walked downstairs to greet him.
"Ready now?" He asked impatiently.
"Sure Cole."
"You know I hate it when you call me that."
"Well I don't care." I laughed.
"Why do gob have to be a jerk to me and me alone? I don't see you calling Sam 'Samuel'."
"Well that's because he isn't as fun to pick on. You react, he doesn't." I pointed at him as I grabbed a water from the fridge.
Colby rolled his eyes and walked to the front door.
I put my shoes on clumsily and hobbled out to the car that Colby already had started.
"Get in loser we're going shopping!" Colby mocked from the drivers seat.
I chuckled, mumbled an 'I hate you' and got into the car.
"Okay so where are we going?" I asked.
"We are just running to a couple stores." He shrugged.
I just complied and waited till we got to our first mystery shop.
Colby parked outside of a random shop that I never go to. He went inside and looked around. I kinda just followed and watched as he looked at a couple things.
He sighed when he left empty handed but went on to the next store.
After a while of shopping I convinced him to bring me to a rue 21.
I jumped out of the car and walked inside with an excited gait.
After a minute of debating I took a couple items into the dressing room and tried them on.
I couldn't help but wonder if Colby would enjoy me in any of these outfits but I pushed the thought away as fast as it came.
I was happy with one outfit which I decided to splurge on.
I walked out happily and was excited to tell Colby, until I saw him smiling and laughing with another girl.
Of course I couldn't be jealous or "protective" because he wasn't even mine; I was just stupidly in love silently.
Anger files inside me and I couldn't stand it anymore.
I walked to the counter with an act of happiness on and payed for the clothes.
I said thank you and a goodbye to the nice cashier and walked out.
I heard Colby trailing behind me to the car and I got into the passenger seat and slammed the door closed.
"Hey, what's wrong? What happened?"
I didn't answer him in fear that I'd start crying as soon as I even breathed.
My bottom lip trembled like hates about to burst from water pressure.
I could not let Colby know why I was sad.
Colby waited for a minute more until he gave up and started the car.
We drove home in a tense silence.
I was still trying not to cry.
Colby soon sighed with a mighty force and turned the car around.
I wondered where he was going but I didn't say anything.
He ended up pulling into a (f/ffr). He pulled up to order as I sat in curiosity.
He ordered and pulled up to the window.
He payed and I watched in silence as he continued to do his process, slightly angered.
After he got the bag of food he pulled into a parking space, violently put the car in park and looked at me.
He reached into the bag and pulled out f/f and handed it to me.
"I don't know why you're upset but you have to be happy when you eat this."
I didn't take the food but sat there in awe at his gesture.
"You have to eat it." He poked again
I still stayed silent, tears welling up in my eyes.
"Come on. You can't be mad at me anymore. I don't even know what I did. But I want to make it up to you with some f/f. So please" he handed the food out more to me and puppy eyed me "take it. And tell me what's wrong."
I couldn't help it anymore.
I threw my hands up and let them fall limp on my thighs as I let out a sob.
"I can't. I can't do it anymore! You have to stop being so nice to me or I will ruin everything!"
"What do you mean?" Colby asked.
"I mean I love you! I can't help it! Because you do shit like this for me and then I love you more. And I can't help but wonder why you can't see that I love you. I just... I can't do it anymore." I wiped my eyes with my shirt and looked down at the food in my lap.
I could hear myself sniffle and I looked anywhere else but his eyes to avoid any awkward moments.
"Wow y/n. I-Uh... I don't know what to say."
My heart shattered when it didn't happen like the movies. When the crush doesn't just conveniently have a crush back.
I knew it wouldn't. It never does. But I was always hopeful.
I shook my head and just told him to drive home.
I got out of the car and ran into the trap house.
I let out a sob as I ran up the stairs.
Third pov
As y/n cried in her room, Colby came into the house to be met by his confused roommates.
"Wow, damn, what happened?" Corey asked with an astounded look on his face.
"She... she told me she loves me."
"She had to tell you for you to realise?" Aaron asked.
"You guys knew?" He asked appalled.
"Anyone could see that! She basically had googily eyes over you all the time. She'd always stand closest to you. She'd always spend tome with you over anyone else. She was very clearly in love with you." Sam pointed out
Colby thought he was blind to not see it. Now every memory he looked back on he saw it.
The eyes, the contact, the passion.
He knew he was stupid.
He was so so upset with himself
But he would make it up.
He was gonna take her on a date
