Chapter 13
Taylor and I sat on the stage, at the One Direction concert. We had been brought up on stage as had Justin and to my dispair, Darren.
We were singing a song for the whole crowd and we received a huge round of applause. It was just finishing off the concert, and Darren had been grinning creepily at me for the whole time.
I wasn't sure, but in about two hours I would learn how.
I raised my hand and the crowd fell silent.
"I would like to say thank you for everyone's support. None of us would be here without you. THANK YOU!" Everyone burst into cheers, before a camera man came into the stage and started filming me. Everyone else on stage stared cheering and Harry spoke up.
"Well, for all of you that hasn't figured this out by now, I mess up a lot."
I glared at him across the stage and he noticed.
"But, I know how to fix it and we have. Ciara, you're cousin is an army officer and you haven't seen him for months."
I felt the years streaming down my face, and I knew this would become a famous video.
"So we arranged a Skype session for you with your cousin!"
The big screen turned on behind me and I came face to screen with the picture of my cousin. He grinned out at us all and smiled.
"Hey Ciara!" I started crying again and he told me to stop crying.
"Look, Ciara I have something really important to tell you. Ciara, I'm-" He was cut off by the video turning off. I must have had a sad look on my face because the crowded aww'ed me.
I turned around to say thank you to Harry for fixing my problem and then everyone started screaming like crazy. I glared at them and Liam swung his arm over my shoulder and holding me to stop me from turning around.
"I would like to say, although it was Harry's idea, Darren made this possible."
I whipped my head around to look Darren into the eyes, and I swear you could hear a pen drop. I turned back to Liam.
"What was he going to say?" I asked and everyone started screaming again.
I cocked an eyebrow at them.
Liam looked over my shoulder and laughed.
"Why don't you ask him yourself? Ciara, when you see your cousin-" He was cut off by me.
I turned around to see Shane, my cousin, standing there in his army uniform. I ran across the stage and jumped into his arms and cried. He hugged me and I wrapped my legs around his waist. He nodded to everyone and carried me off stage.
"Did Darren actually bring you here?" I asked through my tears, after we had gone back to my dressing room.
He nodded. "After I punched him in the eye." I smacked his arm and he grinned cheekily at me.
"He knew my commander and got me out of there. I am now on leave for a year." I squealed and hugged him again.
"I'm never letting go."
We stared at each other for a moment and I knew we were both thinking about what happened last time we met.
"I visited a psychologist. It's okay, I'm safe now, instead of aggressive reactions I'm more likely to groan at you."
I laughed and we sat talking until everyone else came in. Taylor knew me and Darren had some talking to do.
"Hey One Direction, Justin and Shane! I've got a whole tub of ice cream each come on!" She dragged them out and Shane sent me a protective look as he left.
I crossed my arms and sat on the couch. Darren sat beside me and the door was closed.
We sat in silence before Darren spoke.
"I tried. I've tried to do everything to prove it was wrong to cheat."
I turned around to face him. "Why do it then?"
He sighed and looked on edge. He leaned closer to me slightly and I almost saw him break into tears.
"Shh, what's up?" I asked him, awkwardly patting his head.
He looked up at me. "I didn't want to kiss her. My publicist told me to and she said if I didn't then she would release a whole load of fake rumours out to get me more publicity. I fired her after I kissed that girl."
I stared opened mouthed at him.
"Prove it." I finally spoke. He nodded and handed me my phone.
"That's the girl I kissed there." He showed me their texts.
D: Remember this is not what I want
?: I hate having to do this, but if I don't I won't have enough money to pay my rent.
D: I'm sorry.
?: I hate breaking up you guys.
I sighed and handed him back his phone.
"I forgive you, but I'm not getting right back together. We need space for it to die down, wether that is days, weeks or even months I don't know." He smiled at me and nodded.
"That's all I hoped for."
THE NEXT WEEK
Shane and I sat on the side of the stage. The concert had finished but we didn't want to leave yet.
We spent four more hours there, until it was 2am the next day. We played with the nerf guns, his practice from the Army paying off.
We walked home and I had forgotten all about Naya until I opened the door to see her sitting on the couch, her mouth gaped open and a bowl of Doritos in her hands.
"Hey nay!" I said and she looked up briefly.
"Nice to see you again Shane. Anyway, you should see this."
I stared at the TV and we all were frozen.
I blinked a few times to make sure what I was seeing was right.
TEEN CHOICE AWARDS INSPIRATION AWARD WINNER HAD BEEN ANNOUNCED.
CIARA HELSON HAS BEEN DECIDED ON.
