Sahil: A boys night out?

Daksh snickered on the other end of the conference call.

Ruhaan: Yes, Sahil. A boys night out. Just you, me, Adi and Daksh.

Daksh: Without the girls?

Ruhaan: Yes, without the girls , Daksh. Seriously, since you and Ananya have started dating, you seem to have no time for us at all.

Adi let out a laugh.

Daksh: Come on guys, that's not true.

Adi: Yes it is.

Ruhaan: Just tell her that we're going to hangout at my house. I'm sure she'll agree.

Sahil: Do we have to lie to them? Come on, what if they find out?

Adi: They won't, goody-two-shoes.

Ruhaan: Come on , guys! What happened to bros before hoes?

Adi: Yeah. And anyways it's just a night off to clear our minds.

Daksh: Ruhaan, you're suggesting that we lie to our girlfriends? Do you even have an idea of the wrath Tapasya will unleash upon you if she finds out?

Ruhaan: Oh come on guys. I'm not scared of Tapasya, okay?

There was a pregnant pause before he continued,

Ruhaan: Okay fine, I am. But she's with her mom right now and she probably won't be back until tomorrow afternoon.

Sahil: Ab aya na uuth pahar ke niche!

The boys laughed.

Ruhaan: Bas bas ha! Abhi mazak bandh karo and tell me whether you guys are in or not?

Adi: I'm in. I don't have nothing to do anyways.

Ruhaan: Daksh ? Sahil?

Daksh: Fine, I'm in.

Sahil: Me too.

Ruhaan: Great! I'll meet you guys at Savaryn's then.

Biding his goodbye, Sahil ended the conference call and sat down on the couch.

Scrolling through social media, he suddenly felt movement beside him. He looked to his right and found Shanu sitting on the couch, with a deep frown enlightening her face.

Sahil: What happened, Shanu? Why so sad?

Shanu didn't say a word. She just kept staring into nothingness.

Sahil scooted closer to her and asked again,

Sahil: Shanu, is everything alright?

His query broke off Shanu's chain of thoughts and she looked at him with her red rimmed eyes.

Sahil: Shanu, were you crying? What's going on? What happened?

Shanu hugged his arm and rested her head on his shoulder.

Sahil: Shanu, you're scaring me now.

Shanu stifled a sob and said in a soft whisper,

Shanu: I'm a bad friend, Sahil.

Sahil furrowed his brows and sat up, facing her.

Sahil: What are you saying? Did someone say something to you? Did you and Ananya have a fight?

Shanu shook her head negatively.

Shanu: I am a very bad friend, Sahil. I wasn't there for my friends when they needed me.

Sahil: Shanu, what are you talking about?

Shanu: At first, it was Ananya. She had to go through so much all alone, and on top of that, when she actually needed me the most, I broke off my friendship with her. Even if it was an act, but still, I did hurt her. God! I even slapped her!

When Ananya had revealed her plan to the rest of the gang, Shanu felt the most guilty amongst the others. How could she have not looked right through someone whom she claimed to be her best friend? Even though Ananya had reassured her that it wasn't her fault and she shouldn't blame herself, she just couldn't escape the guilt of misunderstanding her best friend.

Sahil: Yeah but it wasn't your fault, Shanu. Ananya herself told you so.

Shanu: Even if I wasn't at fault there, I'm greatly at fault for being so selfish as to not noticing that my friend was going through a heartbreak.

Sahil's eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

Sahil: What? What are you talking about?

Shanu looked at him and said,

Shanu: Mitali, Sahil. I abandoned her when she needed me the most.

Sahil tilted his head and asked,

Sahil: Mitali?

Shanu: She's getting married, Sahil.

Sahil: Wait what?! Why?!

Shanu: It's a long story.

Sahil: Well, tell me then!

Thus, Shanu went off to blurt every single thing that Mitali has told her an hour ago. Once she was finished, Sahil sighed heavily.

Sahil: Wow! That is some story!

Shanu sighed.

Sahil: But why would Adi do this? Why would he hurt Mitali like this? I thought he really liked her.

Shanu: I don't know, Sahil. I guess it's just in his nature! He has been a playboy since the day I've known him. Maybe he just got bored of her or something.

Sahil: Or maybe, this is all a misunderstanding.

Shanu looked at him in surprise.

Shanu: What misunderstanding? What are you talking about, Sahil?

Sahil: Look.... isn't it a possibility that maybe he never gave Trisha the ring?  That this all could be just a misunderstanding?

Shanu: Well then, how was your cousin wearing the ring on Jai bhaiya's wedding?

Sahil: Well....as far as I know Trisha, she's the destructive kind. She'll do anything to sabotage something if it benefits her. There's a possible chance that she might have feel for Adi's charms and when she saw that Adi actually liked someone else,she retorted. So I feel like there's a good chance that she somehow got hold of the ring or maybe made a duplicate.

Shanu: Oh my God! Could this be true?

Sahil: It could be. Why else would she flaunt it in front of Mitali in the first place?

Shanu clasped her palm on her head.

Sahil: But we can't just go around accusing her. We need a solid proof for that. And there's only one person who can give us that.

Shanu looked at him, getting his hint.

Shanu: Adi.

Sahil nodded slightly.

Shanu: But how do we ask him about this without telling him about Mitali's engagement?

Sahil: Shouldn't we tell him about it though?

Shanu: No, Sahil. Mitali made me promise not to say a word about her engagement to anyone.

Sahil: You told me.

Shanu: Yeah, but that's different. I don't want to create more problems for her than there already is.

Sahil pondered for a while before saying,

Sahil: Fine. I'll try to ask him tonight.

Shanu: Tonight?

Sahil: Yeah. Me and the boys are going to Ruhaan's place to hangout. I'll ask him then.

Shanu: Please be subtle about it. And don't tell him about Mitali.

Sahil: I won't, don't worry.

Shanu nodded.

Shanu: I just.... I just want her to be happy, Sahil. She's gone through so much. She deserves happiness.

Sahil hugged her from the side and rubbing her back, he said,

Sahil: I know. Me too.

Shanu: I just hope our hunch is correct. And that it was actually Trisha who sabotaged their relationship and not Adi.

Sahil: Yeah. I'm sure Adi won't prove us wrong.

Shanu sighed softly and said,

Shanu: I hope so.
