"WHAT'S GOING ON?!", beamed a loud voice.

And the whole canteen grew silent. Shanu and Sahil came out of the table.The students huddled in front of the authoritative body, who was now on the verge of outburst.It was the Dean.

He stepped in front of the students and asked in a stern voice," What was the reason for this mishap?"

The students whispered among themselves, for they knew that if someone ratted out Tapasya, the outcomes wouldn't be in favor for that person.

"Answer me!", the dean shouted.

"It was Tapasya , sir. She started the fight.", Akriti said, earning a glare from Tapasya.

"Tapasya, is that true?", the dean asked.

Tapasya fidgeted her fingers and looked here and there.

" I asked, is it true whatever she is saying?", The dean asked once again.

"Sir,...actually.....", Tapasya started.

"No sir. It was not her.", Mitali said, stepping forward. Tapasya quirked an eyebrow at her.She was surprised as to why she was saving her.

"Well then, who was it?", the dean was now looking at Mitali.

"Me, sir. I provoked her to start the fight."' Mitali said in a confident manner.

The whole crowd stared down at her with surprise. Shanu and Ananya exchanged looks. Tapasya was taken aback by the sudden confession.

"Well, I see that you are new, as well as because you are only half at fault. These people know the rules and yet they dared to break them. Since you honestly accepted your fault I'm not giving you detention, but, you would have to clean this mess that you've made in here. Make sure this mistake is not repeated again. I won't spare you the next time.Is that clear?", the dean said.

"Yes sir. I'll keep that in mind.", Mitali answered with confidence.

"Good.Then I'll leave you to it. Clean this mess up before the next bell.", the dean said and left the canteen.

Shanu and Ananya came up to Mitali.

Shanu: Mitali, why did you do that?

Taps: Yeah, why did you do that?

They turned their attention to Tapasya who was standing behind them.

Mitali: What did I do?

Taps: You had the chance to take revenge on me but you didn't. You had a chance to rat me out, but you didn't. Why?

Mitali: Queen B, I just said the truth. It's true that I provoked you, right? 

Taps: Yes, but I started the fight.

Mitali: It's fine. 

Taps: Look, I didn't need you to this, alright!I could have .....

Mitali: Managed it? Yeah I know you could have. That's why you were fidgeting with your fingers.

Tapasya remained silent. She had no answer for that one.

Mitali: Look, it's fine. I can clean this up myself.

Tapasya shot a last glance at her before leaving the canteen.The other students left soon after. Now only Mitali, Shanu, Ananya, Sahil and Adi were left.

Ananya: We'll help you clean this.

Mitali: That's not required, guys, seriously.

Shanu: Shut up and hand me the mop.

Sahil: Yeah, we'll help.

Mitali: I'm sorry,...I don't know you.

Sahil: I'm Sahil. 

Mitali: Dean's son?

Sahil(sigh): Yeah, but that's not my only personality.

Adi: Well, that's most of your personality.

Shanu: Has anyone asked your opinion?

Seeing Shanu suddenly get so defensive, Mitali raised her eyebrows.

Ananya: Dude, it's fine. You can go. Tapasya might not like that you're here with us.

Adi: No.(Glancing at Mitali) Not before I help her clean this.

Mitali: Thank you. But, seriously, you need to tend to Queen B. We'll manage.

Adi: She has a name.

Mitali: Yeah, but it's too long. Unless.......I call her that nickname of yours.

Adi: No!

Mitali:(laughingly) You're so scared of her.

Adi: You are impossible.

Saying that, he left the canteen. Mitali smiled at the retreating figure.

Ruhaan was clueless about the mishap that happened in the canteen. He surely heard some of his classmates gossip about it, but didn't really understand much. After college, he went to Tapasya who was busy fidgeting with her phone in her car.

Ruhaan knocked on the window and signaled her to come out of the car. Tapasya reluctantly agreed. Seeing her upset, Ruhaan asked,

Ruhaan: What's going on? Why are you looking so upset?

Tapasya narrated the entire fiasco that took place in the canteen.

Ruhaan: But why did she save you?

Tapasya:I don't know.

Ruhaan : Maybe she's not that bad.

Taps: Maybe......Look , Ruhaan , I don't really wanna talk about what happened. It's too upsetting.

Ruhaan frowned seeing her upset. He loved her radiant smiley face. Even when she acted a little silly, she looked cute. He didn't love her because of her popularity. He would've loved her even if she were a random girl. 

Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind. He started singing,

Tapasya turned towards him and looked at him confusingly.

He caught her by her arm and pulled her close. She retorted saying," Ru, this is a parking lot."

"Who cares?" he answered and resumed singing.

Tapasya broke into a smile. She joined him.

Tapasya:-

They moved along the beats of the song. Ruhaan slid his hands on her waist while she placed her hand on his shoulder.Their hands remained intertwined with each other.

Ruhaan:-

They stopped and looked at each other. There was a beautiful silence in between them. Not awkward at all. She somehow felt secured in his arms. He , on the other hand, was feeling butterflies in his stomach. This was a moment he knew , he would savor all throughout his life. Tapasya felt the same way. She was surprised as to why she was feeling this way. Ruhaan had always been her friend. Was there something her heart was denying? Or was it her mind? She didn't know. But one thing she knew for sure that she wasn't in control of herself anymore.

It was a new feeling for her and she knew that she loved it......
