Sleep was far from Shanu's eyes. She felt as though something wonderful had happened to her. It was a lovely feeling.She felt as though she was living on cloud nine. Even the tiniest of the tiniest thing made her happy. She had been feeling like this since Sahil had told her that he loved her as well. This was unexpected for her. I mean, how often does it happen that a person whom you had a crush on would like you back?

Never,right?

Busy in her dreams, Shanu never realised that someone was at her door,peering at her. It was Mitali. She  looked at Shanu with a grin on her face. She knew she was thinking about whom.Without saying a word,she closed her door behind and went back to her room. When she got to her room, she found Ananya in some deep thought. She chuckled silently and went and sat beside her. After a long ten minutes of silence, Mitali coughed fakely and brought back Ananya to her senses.

Mitali: (Singing) Khoya khoya chand, khula aasman....la..la..la..

Anu: Yeh achanak tujhe gaana kaha se sujha?

Mitali: Arey bhai! Mere dono dost kisi ke khayal mein khoye hai, to mai yeh gaana na gayu to kya karu?

Ananya pursed her lips and Mitali burst out in silent laughter.

Anu: Mai kisi ke khaayal mein khoyi hui nahi thi. Voh to mai bas kuch soch rahi thi.....

Mitali: Ha ha . Aur kis ke baare mein soch rahi thi, yeh bhi pata hai!

Anu:(smacking Mitali's arm) Chup kar tu! Yeh sab na teri hi vajah se hua hai. Kis ne kaha tha mujhe Daksh ke sath bhejne ko?

Mitali: To matlab yeh sach hai....ki tu.....Daksh ke baare mein hi soch rahi thi, right?

Ananya realised what she had done and nervously fidgeted with her hands.

Anu: Um....Um....voh.....

Mitali:(chuckling) Ab rehne de......mujhe pehle se hi pata tha tu usike ke baare mein soch rahi hai. Teri best friend hu. Itne din mein to tujhe itna jaan hi chuki hu.

Anu:(trying to change the topic) Acha tu keh rahi thi ki tere donno dost kisi ke khayal mein khoye huye hai,right? Shanu kiske khayal mein hai?

Mitali: Dumbo! Tujhe kya lagta hai, voh kiske khayal mein kho sakti hai?

Anu: Sahil ke?

Mitali: Aur nahi to kya! Mai uske room mein ghusne hi vali thi ki jab maine dekha ki.....(narrates the whole scenario).

Anu: Vah! Lagta hai kisi ko pakka vala pyaar ho gaya hai!

Mitali: Ha yeh to sach hai! Uske face par smile dekh kar hi pata chal raha tha ki voh kitni happy. Eh, tujhe kya lagta hai? Un dono ke bich mein raaste mein kya hua hoga?

Anu: Voh to kal subah hi pata chal jayega. Chal abhi so jate hai! Varna kal subah nahi uth payenge.

Mitali: Raat ke ek baj rahe hai. Tujhe sach mein lagta hai mai uth paungi jaldi?

Anu:(chuckles) Matlab tu kal first lecture miss karegi?

Mitali: Of course yaar. Kal to khud bhagwan bhi mujhe jaldi nahi utha payenge!

Anu(chuckles): Aur skit practice ka kya?

Mitali: Voh Adi samhal lega.

Anu: Vah bhai, tujhe bara confidence hai Adi pe!  Tu itni sure kaise hai ki voh samhal lega?

Mitali: Bharosa hai mujhe uss duffer pe. I know...(thinking about him) voh samhal lega.....

And The Day Arrives.....

Mitali: Yaar ek to already mai late hogaye hai, upar se yeh meri dress ki knot hi nahi lag rahi!

She shouted and sighed as her last attempt of hooking her dress went in vain. She sat down , tired. There was no one around to help her. Ananya was busy attending guests with Daksh. Shanu was preparing the stage with Sahil. Ruhaan and Tapasya were backstage along with the other participants, making sure everything was okay. And Adi.....well,she didn't know where he was.

She decided to try once more. So facing the mirror , she started trying once again. Just then , a voice made it's way to her ears.

Adi: Mitali, aren't you rea....oops, sorry!

This made her jump and she nervously glanced at the person standing at the door. It was Adi. He was facing the other side,away from Mitali. He spoke nervously,

Adi: Um....I'm sorry....I didn't mean to.......I should probably go....

Mitali: No.

She blurted out and then wondered why.

Adi: (still facing the other side)Huh?

Mitali: I mean.......before you go.......could you please help me?

Adi: Yeah.....what is it?

Mitali: The knot......could you please tie it? I've been trying since the last 15 mins......but...

Adi; Yeah....okay.

Mitali; Adi, for that to happen you have to turn towards me......

Adi realised and slowly faced her. He couldn't take his eyes off her. She looked like an angel. So beautiful and mesmerising. He wanted the time to just stop right there....

Mitali's look:-

Mitali: What? Is something wrong?

Adi: Uh......

Mitali: (snapping her fingers in front of him) Adi!

Adi:(coming back to reality) Yeah.....yeah......It's just ......you look......

Mitali: Hideous?

Adi: No......no....you look......absolutely.........perfect.

Mitali: Really?

Adi: Yeah. Wonderful.

Mitali smilingly blushed a bit.

Adi: So uh.....you were asking for help with the....?

Mitali: Oh....yeah...the knot.....could you tie it?

Adi: Yeah.....sure.

Mitali slowly turned the other side. Adi came closer to her and touched the strings. Mitali felt butterflies in her stomach and chill ran down her spine. She had this tingling feeling in her body which she couldn't describe. Adi's hands were shaking slightly. He was confused. He had done this before. Uncountable times. But this was the first time that he felt so nervous. It felt like one hell of a job, when it was nothing at all.Both had the same question going on in their mind:

Why?

After tying , Adi stepped back and asked,

Adi; Is that it?

Mitali turned to face him and in a low voice answered,

Mitali: Yeah....I guess....Thanks....

Adi: Yeah.....no problem...um....uh...... I should get going......Um....okay.....

Mitali: Yeah.....I'll be there in a minute.

Adi nodded and taking a last glance at her, he turned to leave, when...

Mitali: By the way,......you look good too.

Adi didn't turn. He just smiled to himself and said, "Thanks!", and left. Mitali kept looking at the retreating figure with a smile on her face......
