Aditya's mind wandered over thoughts. For the past 10 minutes, he had been trying to figure out how he would start up a conversation with Mitali. Well, and also, how he would impress her!

The bike screeched and stopped. Mitali's hands landed on his shoulder.She pursed her lips while he grinned.

Adi: You see that moon on the sky ?

Mitali looked at him and raised a brow.

Mitali: Tumne yeh batane ke liye bike roki?

Adi: Nahi voh.....khud hi band ho gayi. Utro, mai dekhta hu.

Mitali got off the bike and so did Adi. No, no, don't worry, the bike was totally fine. This was the plan that Adi had been figuring for the past ten minutes.

Adi: Tumhe problem hogi kya chalne mein?

Mitali: Kyu? Tumhari bike ko kya hua?

Adi: Voh......bike start nahi ho rahi.

Mitali raised a brow in suspicion.

Adi: Sach mein kharab ho gayi hai. Jhoot nahi bol raha.

He had his fingers crossed behind him.

Adi: Ab....hostel yaha se jyada dur to hai nahi.....to........

Mitali: Thik hai. Chalte hai.

They started walking ahead with Adi holding the bike, when suddenly,

Adi: Voh chand dekh rahi ho aasman mein?

Mitali: Sach sach batao.....chal kya raha hai tumhare dimag mein?!

Adi: Arey! Mere seedhe question ka seedha answer nahi de sakti tum!

Mitali: Accha baba, ha , dikh raha hai chand mujhe.

Adi: (flirtingly) Voh chand bas.....ek parchaiyee hai.......tumhari parchaiyee.......Tumhari ditto copy samajh lo.

Mitali: (smilingly) Such overromantic lines won't help you, Mr.Sinha. Nice try, though!

Saying that, she walked ahead. Adi walked up to her.

Adi: Tumhe impress karna na bohot hard hai! Mujhe to taras aata hai uss par......jo tumse pyaar karega! Bichare ko kitnI mehnat karnI padega!

 Mitali: Um.....well, isn't that going to be you?

Adi stopped on his tracks and looked at her in surprise.

Mitali: Itna chokh kyu gaye? Tum to pichle 10 minute se usi ki plan kar rahe the na?

Adi opened his mouth in shock and then closed it.

Mitali: Tension mat lo.....jail nahi bhij vaungi uske liye main tumhe!

Adi: Tumhe pata hai......ki mai....tumhe.......impress.....karne ki koshish kar raha hu?

Mitali: Ha.

Adi: Aur tumhe  iss baat se koi problem nahi hai?

Mitali: Nahi.

Adi: Kyu?

Mitali: Tum mujhe impress karne ki koshish kar rahe ho.....kyunki tum mujhe pasand karte ho. That's it,right? To mujhe bura kyu lagega?

Adi:(sigh) Tumto bari open-minded ho yaar!

Mitali: Thanks. Aur vaise bhi....tum itne bhi bure nahi ho.

Adi bulged his eyes out and said,

Adi: Yeh tum keh rahi ho?

Mitali; Ha. Ab jo sach hai voh hai.

Adi: Tum sach mein mujhe ek ke baad ek heart attack diye ja rahi ho!

Mitali chuckled slightly while Adi scratched the back of his head.

Mitali: You are a good person , Adi. Iss mein koi do rah nahi. Par......

Adi: Par?

Mitali: Par mai tumhe sirf ek friend ke nazariye se dekhti hu. Nothing more. Sorry.

Adi:(frowning lightly) Koi baat nahi. Abhi to bohot time hai humare paas. (Leaning closer to Mitali) Ek na ek din to tumhe mujhse pyaar ho hi jayega.

Mitali couldn't speak for a second. She never had felt this way.  But , now, even though she wanted to, but couldn't dismiss the feeling that grew inside her.

So she did what most people do. Change the topic! She pointed towards the pakora stall nearby.

Mitali: Khane chale?

Adi: Huh?

He parked his bike and then,Mitali pulled him by his arm to the stall.

Mitali:(to the vendor) Bhaiya, do plate moong daal ke pakore aur sath mein pudine ki chatni dena mat bhulna!

The vendor nodded and started  preparing the necessities.

Adi: Do plate kyu? Itni bhukhi ho kya tum?

Mitali: Ek plate mere liye , aur dusra tumhare liye. Mai kabhi pakore share nahi karti!

Adi: Mai pakore nahi khata.

Mitali: Kya??!! Konsa insaan pakore nahi khata! Aur voh bhi koi aam pakore nahi, moong daal ke pakore!

Adi: Mujhe oily cheeze pasand nahi.

Mitali: Argh! Voh sab mai kuch nahi janti, tum mere sath pakore kha rahe ho, bas!

Adi: Arey par...

Mitali: Mai naraz ho jaungi agar tumne nahi khaya!

Adi:(After a moment's thought) Accha baba , fine!

Mitali: That's like it!

The vendor served them with the pakoras. Mitali dipped her pakoras in the chatni and savoured with joy. Adi looked at her face. It was full of innocence and joy. He smiled seeing her smile.

Mitali dipped one of her pakoras in the chatni and instead of eating it herself, she fed Adi. He looked at with surprise.

Adi: Tumne to kaha tha ki tum apne pakore kisi ke sath share nahi karti?

Mitali: Ha,.....par....tum special ho.

She went back to devouring the mouth-watering street food. He couldn't help but smile at her innocence. And, also the fact that, she considered him special.

They had just finished eating when a tiny silver thread from heaven came all the way down and kissed Mitali's cheeks.She looked up in anticipation.Soon enough, the cloud burst and many similiar silver threads made their way down. They stood under the shelter of the stall.

Adi: Yeh baarish bhi humesha galat time pe hi aati hai!

Mitali didn't say anything. She was busy admiring the drizzle. And gradually, she burst into a song:

Ajeeb daastaan hai yeh

Adi joined in ,admiring her.

Adi:

Mitali:

Ke jag padi hoon khwaab se

Adi:

Ajeeb daastaan hai yeh

Mitali stepped out in the rain, followed by Adi. Neither of them had any idea of time or surroundings. They just felt the lyrics at that very moment. Adi twirled Mitali around by her finger. She laughed and played in the rain. She jumped and the water splashed towards Adi.He did the same and the water splashed all over Mitali's shoes. She giggled. Adi did too.

Mitali:

Mubaarakein tumhe ke tum

Kisi ke noor ho gaye

Adi:

Mubaarakein tumhe ke tum

Mitali:

Kisi ke itne paas ho

Ke sab se door ho gaye

Adi:

Mitali:

Adi:

Mitali:

Mitali and Adi:

Ajeeb daastaan hai yeh.......

She looked at him . He looked at her.But said nothing. And deep within, they both knew, that this was indeed the start of something beautiful. Something that words couldn't describe.......

And so they smiled.....

P.S- There will be no update for a while now as I'm going on a trip. And for those who asked me, I got 93.8% in my boards.(Yes, I'm very very happy!!!) As a present, my parents are taking me on a trip. So I'll not be updating for a while. But I promise that the day I come back i.e 26th May , I'll update. So please forgive me for the late update. But I'll surely read all of your stories , no matter wherever I am.
