The gang rushed Mitali into the hospital. She was bleeding profusely. After all, she was hit by a car.After admitting her, the gang resigned themselves to a long wait. Sahil and Daksh tried to console Shanu and Ananya, but in vain. Their cheeks were wet and eyes were red due to weeping. 

Taps: She tried to save me.

Everyone looked at her with surprised eyes.

Taps: She pushed me and came in front of that car. She sacrificed her life to save mine's.

Ruhaan: Nothing's going to happen to her. Trust me, she's gonna be fine.

Saying that, he looked at Adi, who was standing still  in a corner. He went up to him and lightly touched his shoulder.

Ruhaan: How are you holding up?

Adi: (In a hardly audible voice) I don't know.

Ruhaan: Hey.....she's gonna be fine, alright? Nothing's going to happen to her.

Adi: How can you be so sure?

Ruhaan: I know. I just know.

Adi shrugged his shoulders.

Ruhaan: Don't worry. We all know she's a fighter.

He went back to where he was sitting earlier. But Adi's mind and heart were not satisfied or consoled by Ruhaan's words. He knew deep down that the darkest hour is just before dawn. He was finding it difficult to breathe.The thought of her going away from him was terrifying. It was true that he had known her for only three weeks.But in those three weeks, he fell head over heels for her. Her smile, her eyes and her sarcasm. He loved everything about her now.

He was just starting to know her better. Was destiny really going to take her away from him?

Tapasya,on the other hand, was feeling guilty. She mistook her decency to be fake affection. She was really a nice person.A great friend.A friend that she knew she didn't deserve.

Actually, Tapasya had befriended Mitali, just for the sake of impressing Ruhaan. So she had put on a show for the last three weeks in front of everyone. She cursed herself for being so oblivious and ignorant.

After a wait of 3 long hours, the doctor came out of the O.T . The gang rushed to ask about Mitali.

Ruhaan: Doctor, is everything alright? Is Mitali fine?

Doctor: Yeah , she's fine. She's out of danger.She has regained consciousness, though she is a little weak. One of you can visit her at a time.

The gang looked at each other. Before anyone could speak, Adi said,

Adi: Guys, can I?

Ruhaan: Yeah, sure.

Adi nodded and went inside. He found Mitali slightly opening her eyes and staring at the ceiling.He went and took a chair and sat next to her bed.

Mitali:(without looking at Adi) Where am I, champ?

Adi: Hospital.

Mitali: Thought so.These green curtains and weird machines don't really say 5-star hotel!

Adi chuckled slightly. 

Mitali: Were you crying?

Adi: How do you know? You aren't even looking at me.

Mitali:(looking at Adi) Your voice gave you away. It's shaky and quivering.

Adi: Wow!

Mitali: What?

Adi: You do know me. I mean, without even looking at me ,you could tell whether I was crying or not!

Mitali: Don't flatter yourself up! I could've predicted that even if it was Queen B!

Adi finally smiled.

Mitali:  Now , stop being too smart and tell me the truth. Why were you crying?

Adi: I was worried about you.

Mitali: Whoa!(dramatically) The Aditya Sinha! The most eligible bachelor of St. Marcus! The Ladies Man! The Apple of Everyone's eyes was worried about ME! 

Adi: Stop dramatizing it!

Mitali:(dramatically) OMG, my heart fills with joy and happiness!

Adi:(Giggling) I said stop!

Mitali giggled while Adi admired her smile.

Mitali:  Chalo iss sab se ek baat to pata chal gayi!

Adi: Aur vo kya?

Mitali: Vo yeh ki ham sab ke pyare Daring Insaan ko bhi rona aata hai! Voh itne bhi daring nahi nikle!

Adi: Insaan hu , robot nahi , ki rona na aaye!

Mitali: (Pulling his cheeks) Aww! Ronduru!

Adi: I hope ki yeh nickname tum college mein sabke samne use nahi karogi.

Mitali: Dekhenge!

Adi: Hey Bhagwan!

Mitali chuckled.

There was a knock at the door. The rest of them came in. Mitali smiled seeing them.

Shanu: Kaisi hai tu abhi?

Mitali: Thik hu, yaar. Bas thoda sa sar dard hai.

Anu: Thank God! Tu thik ho gayi . Hum kitna dar gaye the yaar.

Mitali: Mai thik hu. Itna dar mat. Mai itni jaldi tum logo ka picha nahi chorne vali mai!

Everyone chuckled except Tapasya. Mitali noticed that.

Ruhaan: Mitali, tu rest kar. Hum bad mein aayenge.

Mitali nodded.

The gang wished her goodbye and started leaving. Mitali suddenly called out,

Mitali: Tapasya!

Tapasya froze in her place.She turned slowly towards Mitali.

Mitali: I have something to tell you. Can you.....?

Tapasya: Yeah.......sure.

Ruhaan: Alright,then. We'll leave you guys alone. 

Saying that, he and Adi left the room.

Outside:

Adi and Ruhaan were seated in a bench. The rest of them went to have some coffee.

Ruhaan: So....

Adi: What?

Ruhaan: Are you fine, now?

Adi: Yeah, yeah. I knew I was fine when I saw that smile of hers.

Ruhaan: Dude, you're so in love with her. I mean, I have never seen you get so paranoid about anything in your life before. This is the first time.

Adi: Yeah,that's true.

Ruhaan: I hope it remains the same, dude. 

Adi: Yeah, me too.

Meanwhile, 

Taps: So what did you wanna talk about?

Mitali: Something's off with you, isn't it?

Tapasya fidgeted with her fingers and blinked quickly. Mitali placed her hand over hers and said,

Mitali: Tapasya, it's fine. You can tell me.

Tapasya took a deep breath and decided to come out with it.

Taps: Mitali, vo.....actually.......the truth is........The reason I befriended you.......was because........I wanted.......to impress Ru. He was friendly with you and I thought that maybe if I......befriended you.........he would like it.

Mitali kept silent and looked at her.

Taps: I wanted him to believe that I......I could be........friendly ...........with you. I thought that he would like it.

Mitali: Why would you do that?

Taps: I know, I know! I was wrong. I misunderstood you. I thought you would separate my friends from me. I was jealous. I shouldn't have done any of this. And now, you won't believe me even if I said that I really am sorry for what I did. But trust me, Mitali, I really am guilty for what I did. And I'm sorry.....I...

Mitali didn't say anything. Tapasya looked at her and found her looking towards the door. She followed her line of sight and found Ruhaan standing at the door. Pain and anger were evident on his face. Tapasya  gulped.

Taps: Ru......

Ruhaan slammed the door and went out. Tapasya ran after him. She caught him by his arm.

Taps: Ru....listen to me.

Ruhaan shoved her hands off him and glared at her.

Ruhaan: What's left now?

Taps: I know ............what I did was wrong. I shouldn't have. But , I did all that because of you.

Ruhaan: No. You did all that because of yourself. You were selfish.

Taps: No,...Ru..no....

Ruhaan: I don't......I just don't want to talk to you......not right now. Nor ever.

Saying that, he stormed out of the hospital. Tapasya looked at the retreating figure, with tears evident on her cheeks...................
