Taps: That's right. So why don't we start by introducing ourselves?

Adi: Alright, I'll go first. Though it's pretty obvious who I am,(glancing at Mitali and smirking),just for the formalities, I'm Aditya Sinha . You can call me Adi.

Mitali rolled her eyes in annoyance.

Shanu: I'm Shayantani Basu. You can call me Shanu.

Anu: I'm Ananya Mathur. You can call me Anu.

Saying that, she looked at Daksh, who ignored her gaze and looked the other way. Ananya was a little surprised.

Sahil: I'm Sahil Maheshwari. Most of you know me as the "Dean's son" and also the "Loser", both of which I am. You can just call me Sahil.

Shanu frowned listening to him.

Ruhaan: Well, in here Sahil, no one considers you a "Loser". We are a team. And in a team, no one judges anyone.

Shanu gave Ruhaan a wide smile. Ruhaan was one of the very few people who knew about Shayantani's crush on Sahil. They both were good friends. Same stream.

He nodded and returned her a smile.

Sahil: Thanks. I appreciate that.

Daksh: I'll go next. Well, my name is Daksh Verma. I'm new to this college and I have absolutely no idea who you guys are.

Mitali:(to Daksh) We need to totally compare our notes.

Daksh:(to Mitali)And why would we do that?

Mitali: (to Daksh) Cause we might be long lost siblings, who knows!

Daksh returned her a small smile. On the other hand, Ananya was super shocked as to when Mitali and Daksh had become such good friends.

Taps: Okay, enough of that. Why don't you introduce yourself Mitali?

Mitali: Alright. Now as Tapasya said, my name is Mitali . Mitali Gupta. I'm a secret agent from the NIA. And I'm here on a secret mission.

All of them looked at her with widened eyes.

Mitali: Just kidding.Continue.

Both Shayantani and Ananya exchanged looks as though conveying the message,

"Uff....iss ladki ka kya hoga!"

Taps: Well, I'm Tapasya Dhanrajgir. You can call me Taps or T.

Mitali: Can we call you the nickname that Adi gave you?

Taps: Which one?

Mitali: Uss din canteen mein bulaya tha.....uh.......Ha.....Tap..

Adi covered Mitali's mouth as soon as he could.

"Is ke pet me kuch nahi rehta. Sab ugalna hai isko",he thought.

Adi: Ruhaan, apne aap ko bhi introduce kar!

Ruhaan understood . 

Ruhaan: Oh yes!yes.....umm....I'm Ruhaan Shergill. There's no short form to that.

Shanu: Why can't we call you Ru? Just like Tapasya does.

Taps: No. Only I call Ruhaan as Ru. That is reserved by me, sorry.

Saying that, they both looked at each other. Deep down Ruhaan felt very happy.

Daksh: Alright, if the whole introduction ceremony is over, then we can move on to more important things!

Ruhaan bit his lip.

Taps: Yeah......I think at first need to split the tasks among us so that the work is surpassing and incomparable. In short it needs to be perfect.

Ruhaan: Okay, so.....uh......let's form groups of two and supervise the arrangements first.Uh......okay....Sahil And Shanu, you both can look after the Quiz and Dance contests. You can take help from Miss Diana, if you need. She informed me that she is in charge.

They both nodded.

Ruhaan: Okay.....next up.....Ananya and Daksh, you guys can look after the sports meet. Ganguly Sir would be guiding you.

Ananya nodded while Daksh looked down. Now Ananya was really taken aback.

"Why was he suddenly acting so weird? Had I  done something wrong trusting him?"

Ruhaan: Okay.....um.....next up......Adi, you and.......

"Mitali bol de bhai, please, Mitali bol de!"

Ruhaan thought," Agar maine ise Mitali ke sath de diya,to mujhe Tapasya ke sath hona padega. Nahi.....abhi mai uske liye tayyar nahi hu. Ise Tapasya ke sath de deta hu. Kya pata ? Shayad agar mai Mitali ke sath jyada time spend karne laga, to shayad Tapasya jealous hokar, apni feelings express kar de! Right, yahi karna sahi hoga!"

Ruhaan: Um...Adi , you and Taps can look after the debate and speech competitions. Mrs. Banerjee would help you out.

Adi frowned while Tapasya nodded reluctantly.

Ruhaan: And....I and Mitali would look after the Dance, singing and Drama contests.(Turning to Mitali) Are you fine with that?

Mitali didn't respond. Sorry, correction, Mitali couldn't respond. Adi's hand was still covering her mouth. She indicated Adi to remove his hand through her eyes. Adi didn't understand.

Ruhaan: Adi, remove your hand from her mouth!

Adi realized his mistake and removed his hand from her mouth.

Mitali: Yeah, it's fine by me.

Ruhaan: Alright,then. Let's get to work. Consult your respective teachers and let me know if there is something wrong.

They all got up to leave with their respective partners. The last to leave were Mitali And Ruhaan. As Ruhaan was busy packing his things, Mitali asked,

Mitali: So...Ruhaan,right? 

Ruhaan: Yeah.

Mitali: Can I ask you something?

Ruhaan: Yeah, sure.

Mitali: Why did you pair up with me?

Ruhaan: You got a problem with that?

Mitali: You know I don't. You're not as dumb as your friend.

Ruhaan: Adi?

Mitali: Who else?

Ruhaan: Yeah, he can be dumb. But he has a big heart. He's really nice if you know him well.

Mitali: Then despite knowing that your little friend has a crush on me, why didn't you pair me up with him?

Ruhaan widened his eyes.

Ruhaan: You know?

Mitali: Yeah, your friend can't keep much of a suspense!

Ruhaan chuckled.

Mitali: So ....why did you pair up with me?

Ruhaan:(after a moment's thought) If I tell you the reason, would you tell anyone?

Mitali: Trust me, honey. I'm not much of a tattletale.

Ruhaan: Okay............I'm trusting you on this.The reason I paired up with you is.......

Mitali: Is?

Ruhaan: UH......I have a crush on....

Mitali: Tapasya. I know.

Ruhaan: How ??????

Mitali: Dude, don't get so surprised. I tend to know everything.

Ruhaan: Let me guess.....Shanu told you, right?

Mitali: Yeah.Don't tell her that I told you. She'll kill me.

Ruhaan: (grinning) Alright. So......uh....since I have a crush on Taps,uh....the plan was.....

Mitali: To make her jealous?

Ruhaan: Yeah........I hope you don't mind.I'm sorry. I should've asked you first.It'll be totally fine if you want to switch partners.

Mitali:(putting an arm around him)I won't. 

Ruhaan: Really?

Mitali: Yeah. We are gonna be quite the pair, Mr. Shergill.

Ruhaan looked at her for a while and then said," Yeah,we are"

Tapasya , who was unaware of the presence of Ruhaan and Mitali in the hall, entered the hall to take her papers from Ruhaan, when she saw that Mitali had her arm around Ruhaan and they both were merrily chatting with each other. She stopped on her tracks. A trickle of jealousy moved her,but she dismissed it , unwilling to think about them together.

She quietly left the hall without saying anything. 

But she shouldn't have been jealous . He wasn't even hers.

Or was he?

Something's definitely burning!
