Chapter 3:

Marinette POV

Yesterday's battle was exhausting. I had gotten home and instantly fell asleep after eating dinner with my parents. The akuma's had been coming in more and more this week that Chat and I never thought we would get a break. Today, however, was quiet and I think today would be a break, a good day, hopefully. I climbed out of bed and went out the trap door to my personal patio area. I enjoyed coming out here and getting to see the city. It had a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower and I often came out here to have some alone time. Sometimes, Chat would stop by and talk to me for a bit before having to run off and detransform. Today was one of those days. As I walked onto the patio, I saw Chat sitting on the railing looking out at the city. I closed the trap door behind me and walked over beside Chat and rested my arms up onto the railing, my hands around my face.

"So, why has the famous Chat Noir graced me with his purr-esence today" I said as I looked over at him and giggled. He looked towards me and tried to fake a smile, but his face went back to having a worried expression. I looked at him now with the same expression, worried that something was bothering him.

"Chat? What's wrong?" I asked him, growing anxious by the second. He looked up at me right in the eyes and studied my face.

"Something isn't right. The city has been awfully quiet today after all those akuma's lately. I think Hawkmoth is planning something. I just came up to check on you and make sure you were alright", he said turning his attention back to the city skyline. I looked at him, some relief slipping out in the form of a sigh.

"Thank you Chat, I'm fine. Are you alright?"

"Yes princess, I'm fine. A little worry never hurt anybody every once in awhile", he said with a gentle smile. He tried to change the subject, and I followed along, but the situation before was still burned into the back of my mind, the worry still eating me from the inside out.

After sometime of talking to Chat, we were interrupted by a scream from what seemed like a few blocks away.

"Sorry to leave you like this princess, but I have to go. I'll see you later", Chat said as he jumped of the railing and towards the akuma attack. I sighed as I watched until he was out of sight and then went to transform. But just as I did, I realized I wasn't alone. Then things went dark.

Chat Noir POV

I quickly said goodbye to Marinette and jumped from the railing, using my baton to propel me towards the sound of the scream. On my way, I tried to picture our next opponent, but my thoughts were all on Hawkmoth and what he could be up to. Things seemed different and I need to figure out what was up, and fast.

As I ran, I figured Ladybug would already be at the scene by now and I pushed myself to run as fast as I could. But when I got to the site of the akuma attack, all that was there was the destruction left behind. No akuma, no panic, and no Ladybug. I scanned the area before becoming completely lost in thought.

What happened here? Where is Ladybug? She wouldn't just leave a scene like this without telling me. Is something wrong? Is she hurt? I need to find her asap!

But my train of thought was disrupted by a figure running across the top of a building. I turned to see who was there.

"Ladyb-------". I stopped dead in my tracks. I recognized that person. It wasn't Ladybug. It was the akumatized victim. And in his arms, held bridal style, was a girl. A girl I knew; who looked to be passed out and held by an enemy with a wicked smile on his face as he ran towards an unknown target.

Marinette!?!?!?!

I wanted to write more, but I thought a cliffhanger would be fun too. Hate me if you want, but I will try to get the next chapter out soon so it won't bother you too long. Thanks to those who have been reading. See you in the next chapter!!
