Chapter 35: Wedding Plans

Tay sat behind his desk, immersed in his work as he went through numerous files to sort out their company's taxes, while Newwie sat on another desk a little further away, looking at the maintenance work that was current ongoing in one of their hotel branches.

Neither of them had spoken to the other since yesterday, and this time, Tay knew he had made his husband seriously angry with his actions because Newwie hardly held a grudge for this long, he just wasn't that kind of a person.

But now, looking at New immersed in a dozen files, flipping through the pages with a frown, his eyes hardly ever landing on Tay...he knew he had to make up for his mistake. Big time.

"Hin," Tay began, his voice soft, as he placed his files aside. "Can we talk?"

But Newwie didn't respond. Tay didn't know if he heard him or if he was purposely ignoring him, but he decided not to let this feud go on any longer.

"Hin...did you hear me?" Tay asked again, louder this time. "Please? Say something?"

New slammed the file shut with a resound snap, before looking at Tay with narrowed eyes. "What is there to say, Tay? What could you possibly want to tell me that will excuse the way you hurt Dunk yesterday!"

"Hin...you know I didn't mean it that way." Tay sighed, running a hand down his face. "I lost control of my temper. You know what time it is, you know that this time—"

"Yes, I know that this time of the year, you usually have no control over your emotions," New sighed, his frustration boiling over. "But must you take it out on the kids? And why only Dunk? Why are you always so strict with him? Isn't that discrimination? It's as if...as if you're blaming him for staying alive!"

"Hey! New!" Tay stood up, his voice curt as he turned an accusing gaze at his husband. "That's unnecessary and you know it! You know this has nothing to do with that incident!"

"Really, Tay? Is that what you're telling yourself?" New got up from his chair too, facing Tay as he rounded the table to stand in front of him. "Do you really believe that? You think you're the only one who's hurting? You think...you think you're the only one who lost her?"

"Enough, New!" Tay shook his head, his heart thundering painfully inside his chest. "Stop with this nonsense already!"

"No, you stop with it!" New shook his head, his anger palpable. "I'd tried to reason with the kids, to tell them that your strictness comes from a place of worry and that you don't want them to ever experience the pains that we had to. But I'm running out of excuses and this time, I think you're the one who needs to apologize."

"Hin, listen to me—"

But a knock sounded on the door before Tay could finish his sentence and he had no choice but to let the person inside.

Aye, their secretary poked her head in, telling them that they had a visitor and that a woman wanted to discuss her wedding plans that she wanted to hold in one of their hotels.

"But why are you bringing this to us, Aye?" New asked, his voice controlled. "Shouldn't the Event Management department be responsible for this?"

"Sir...she wants to speak to the two of you directly." Aye insisted. "She says that you both know her well and you guys are the only people who she'll trust with the wedding."

New gave Tay a confused look, his brows drawn together. "Know her? Can you describe what she looks like to us?"

But before Aye could continue, another voice filled the room, making them pause. "I don't know if you can remember me, but I really wanted to see the two of you...P'Tay...P'New."

The voice sounded familiar to them both, and yet...not. And that was when a woman with long black hair and vaguely familiar features walked in, her attire chic and graceful at the same time as she gave them a small bow.

"Jam dai mai...?" She asked, almost hesitantly, yet her eyes were filled with hope...those beautiful...familiar brown eyes...

"Nirin." The word left Tay's lips on a gasp, as his eyes widened slightly. He stared at her, unable to for any coherent sentences as he kept on staring.

"Nirin?" New's voice too was shaky, as he took a step closer to the woman. "Ni...Nirin chai mai, khap?"

"Chai, Phi." Nirin couldn't help as her eyes watered, her lips quivering as she looked at the two familiar figures who were once a constant presence during her childhood.

"Nirin! Oh...god! Look how you've grown!" New didn't hold his own tears as he pulled her into a hug. "Jam dai si! How can I not remember you, Nirin?"

"I thought...I thought you wouldn't want to see me...bu-but I had to try." Nirin cried into New's shoulder, even though the person she wanted to hug her the most was P'Tay.

But Tay seemed to be in a stupor, as if the past and the present had collided in an avalanche of emotions that have left him breathless and reeling. He didn't know what to do now...forget the past and embrace the future? Or turn away from everything that had destroyed him from the inside out?

But he couldn't do it. He couldn't bring himself to turn away from an innocent child, the child who he once cherished with all his heart...even though she was 'his' niece.

"Nirin." He finally spoke, his voice hoarse and filled with emotions.

Nirin didn't hesitate, she went into P'Tay's embrace right away, his arms coming around her almost protectively.

"P'Tay...I missed you so much! I missed the both of you." Nirin couldn't stop the tears, and neither could the two men. It was a bittersweet reunion, one they hadn't expected. But now that Nirin was here, Tay and New couldn't turn her away, no matter what.

Aye watched the reunion in awe, never having seen her bosses in such a state before. It was baffling to her to see the ever strict Tay Tawan shed tears. She was curious as to who this young woman was and what was her connection to them, but for the time being, Aye controlled her curiosity and left the room, shutting the door behind her to give them all some privacy.

Tay pulled back from the hug to look at Nirin, really look at her. "Let me see." He gave her an adoring smile. "You're all grown up now. And you look so beautiful. I don't even know what to say."

"And you're getting married." New added, a small laugh escaping his lips. "It felt like just yesterday when you were tagging along with us to take you to toy stores after we finished college. And now you're getting married!"

Nirin couldn't help but laugh herself. The reunion had gone better than she had hoped. At first, she had thought that they would reject her immediately, but then hadn't. God, that made her feel so relieved.

"So? Who's the lucky guy?" Tay finally asked, as they all settled into the sofas in their office.

"Luke." She smiled, happy to divulge all the information about her wonderful fiancé. "I think you may know him...he owns a few bars around Krung-Thep."

"So...when's the big day?" New asked, excited to know more.

"In three months." She said sheepishly. "I was hesitating about the venue for a long time, but I knew where I wanted it to be...I just...didn't know how to approach you guys."

"I'm glad you did," Tay told her, patting her hair affectionately. "Tell us, where do you want the wedding. Anything you want, we will make it happen, even if your wedding is in three days."

"Jing si?" Nirin gasped, her eyes wide in shock and joy. "You'll really take care of the wedding for me?"

"Phi sanya na," Newwie told her. "That Tay and I will personally look into all the details of your wedding. Just tell us where you want it."

"The Kamala Beach resort in Phuket." Nirin said finally. "It's my dream to get married there."

"Then we will let it happen." New confirmed. "How about we schedule a visit? So you can check the site and finalize the decorations?"

"That would be perfect!" Nirin clapped her hands together, before hugging P'Tay once again, followed by P'New. "When should we visit? I'll have to let Luke know beforehand."

"How about the day after tomorrow?" Tay asked. "It's the weekend, and it should be a good time to check the place."

"Sounds perfect."

Look who's alive!!!! ME!!!!

Yes, I'm back from the undead...not really, but has been one hell of a last few months. God, I don't even remember the last time I wrote a chapter! But since it was Christmas, I had to update and give you guys some happiness during the Holiday Season!

So, first of all, Happy Holidays!!!!

And to everyone who had reached out and commented, thank you so much for your concern, it helped me a lot. Been through some difficulties with my health, but still needed to write for my apps, because if I didn't, I wouldn't get paid.

I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism, on top of Diabetes, which I had since 2022, and high blood pressure, which...I've had for nearly eight years now. But after taking two weeks of medication, we took my results to another doctor, to get a second opinion, and guess what...? Tests show that my elevated TSH levels were due to a side effect of another drug, and I was misdiagnosed! Like...hell!

But I'm fine now, busy with work and the new apartment my fam is buying. So it's been really hectic.

So...I hope you guys have been doing ok. And sorry for making you guys worry. I'll try to post on the first week of January again, as a New Year's treat! Till then, keep safe, use protection and happy reading!!!!
