It was lunch time at Mountview High when the speaker turned on. "Please don't take my sunshine away."

Since  the song had started off expectantly it unnerved everyone.

Various people started to yell, "What's going on?" and " Stop this!". Eva was trying to think of why that lyric was so familiar.

"You are my sunshine,"

A memory of a guy calling her sunshine came to her mind.

"My only sunshine,

You make me happy, when sky's are grey.

You will never know dear, how much I love you,

Please don't take my sunshine away."

"No... it can't be." Eva whispers.

Jack looks at his girlfriend with concern, "No what? Are you okay Eva?"

Eva doesn't respond, she is too caught up in her memories.

"The other night dear, as I lay sleeping,"

Eva remembers when she first met him, how he seemed shy and quiet.

"I dreamed I held you in my arms,"

"When he told her that he loved her.

"When I awoke dear, I was mistaken,"

Telling him that she didn't love him back.

"And I hung my head and cried."

When she told him that she loved another.

"You are my sunshine,"

His once warm eyes turned cold.

"My only sunshine,"

The visible despair he felt.

"You make me happy when skies are grey,"

The hatred Eva saw in him that day was terrible.

"You will never know dear,"

She didn't know about his affection until that day.

"How much I love you,"

Eva had noticed him always near her, but didn't think much about it at the time.

"Please don't take my sunshine away."

The hate filled looks he gave Jack in the halls.

"I'll always love you,"

Eva saw him stare at her in the halls.

"And make her happy,"

She found letters that were signed off as "Forever Yours", but they weren't from Jack.

"If only you will say the same,"

Eva had told him to stop writing the letters to her, but he didn't.

"But if you leave me,"

Eva curled into herself and started to cry, unaware of the whole cafeteria looking around the room in fright.

Jack's face had turned ashen, realizing that the song was talking about him and Eva.

"You will regret it all someday."

The room was dead silent. All you could hear was the sound of muffled crying coming from majority of the females in the room.

"Stop this whoever you are!" the principle yells.

"Eva dear, you should have chosen me. Now you will feel the pain I felt that day."

Before anyone can do anything or understand what the mystery person meant, a gunshot is heard around the room.

"Jack!" Eva screams.

Jack falls to the ground and blood starts to pool around his torso. Screams echo around the room. People look for where the shot came from.

"He shot him!" a guy yells and points to the back of the room at a guy wearing a black hoodie.

Eva begins sobbing over Jack, "Please stay with me!"

Jack raises a weak hand and cups her face, "I love you Eva." Then his chest stops moving.

Eva's tears fall faster and her cries grow louder. While some people were crying or standing in shock over their dead classmate, others begin to walk towards the person who caused the panic. They want revenge on the guy who killed  Jack.

Eva sees the man and turns red with rage, "You killed him! I hate you Evan!" Then she runs towards him. Surprised at her sudden action, they take a step back unsure of what she is going to do.

Evan looks at her with a crazed look in his eyes and a grin, " Do you feel the pain I felt Sunshine? We can be together now that he is gone."

Eva screams, " You're a monster! Jack did nothing to you!" As she was saying this, she was repeatedly punching Evan.

"You are wrong Sunshine. Jack, prevented us from being together!" Evan yells trying to avoid her punches.

What they all forgot though, was that Evan was still holding the gun.  Eva punches Evan in his arm that was holding the gun. When her fist made contact, he accidenly pulls the trigger, shooting Eva in the chest.

"No!" Evan yells and throws the gun aside. Eva drops to the ground, and like Jack, blood pools around her.

"At least I will be with Jack." Eva whispers. She then takes her last breath before dying with a happy expression on her face. The gym was once again put into a saddened silence for another dead teenager.

"This wasn't supposed to happen! You were supposed to be with me! My Sunshine!" Evan screamed in between sobs. No one moved towards him, letting him have the time to realize what he did. Evan picks Eva up and cradles her in his arms and started to recite the lines from earlier.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine," he look down at her body. "You make me happy when skies are grey," his tears slowly stop. "You will never know dear, how much I love you," Evan's voice now was void emotion, but everyone could feel the pain in his words. "Please don't take my sunshine away."
