Prologue
Although the moon shone brightly, the forest floor was still dark and barely visible. A brown tabby she-cat stalked through the dark surface as she searched for a place for himself and the others to rest. The brown she-cat looked behind herself. There were a few cats travelling just behind her; their coats were too dark to see their true colours.
They were all former members of RiverClan and ShadowClan. They had left the territories of the five Clans once their respective tyrannical leaders were killed. Everything was back to normal as far as they knew.
A brown tom looked at the she-cat as he trotted to her side—his eyes were shining with clear concern despite the darkness. "What are we going to do now, Adderstripe? There aren't many cats. How are we supposed to separate if we became so close to each other?"
Adderstripe looked at the tom with annoyance. "Dustflight, I know your worries. You've been complaining about it the whole way here!"
Dustflight just blinked. Adderstripe commanded the group of cats to stop walking as they neared a point where the forest was beginning to end and an expansive moor was beginning to rise.
Adderstripe sighed slowly. "Listen, Dustflight, we need to separate because we need to cover more ground. We also weren't meant to be sticking together. StarClan themselves have spoken to us, remember? They told us to go make our own Clans. We have to separate into separate Clans or we would be defying Starclan, and you wouldn't want to do that now, do you?"
Dustflight shook his head. "No, I wouldn't want that. Splitting up is what we should do since that's what StarClan told us to do..."
Dustflight didn't like the idea, but he didn't want to defy StarClan.
Adderstripe turned her head to two warriors named Limethroat and Dawnwing. "Are you two willing to be leaders? You both have been a tremendous help in getting us this far, and you both already have a following."
The former ShadowClan and RiverClan warriors looked at each other before the one called Limethroat spoke. "I would be honoured."
Dawnwing was a bit more skeptical at the idea but gave in. "I guess I am, too."
Adderstripe looked at Dustflight. "Would you like to be a leader of your own group?"
Dustflight was taken aback. He didn't anticipate for Adderstripe to ask him if he wanted to be leader, but he couldn't turn the option down.
"Y-yes! Yes, I would!" The tom replied somewhat nervously and enthusiastically.
Adderstripe closed her eyes in thinking. "I will admit, we can't separate now. We should think of naming our Clans before we head our separate ways. What names should our Clans be?"
Dustflight thought for a moment before coming to an answer. "Lionstar did mention a potential Clan name like StormClan. I think I'll go with that."
Limethroat and Dawnwing thought much longer than the enthusiastic, and nervous, brown tom. Dawnwing spoke first this time. "I would like my Clan to be called ShineClan."
Limethroat nodded his head slowly. "And I would like my Clan to be called PathClan."
Adderstripe nodded in approval. "Then I will name my Clan GazeClan."
Dustflight looked at the other warriors. They appear to be making their minds already on what Clan to join. Dustflight knew that a lot of the cats that he had travelled with wouldn't bother joining a leader who didn't at least exert some authority.
Dustflight soon had a feeling of order as an idea passed by in his mind. "Anyone that wants to join Adderstripe's Clan, go near the pine forest. Anyone that wants to join Dawnwing's Clan, go to the other side of the clearing near the moor. Anyone that wants to join Limethroat's Clan, go to the puddle on my left. Anyone that wants to join my Clan, stay where you are."
Soon enough, cats started heading to their choice of clan. Sadly, not a lot of cats went to his, but it didn't dampen his spirits.
"I've never seen you take charge like that." Adderstripe spoke with a hint of surprise.
Dustflight flicked an ear to Adderstripe. "I only learned from a good leader. You are nothing like ShadowClan's former tyrant. You would've made a good leader if you had stayed."
"Well that's in the past now," Adderstripe murdered. "Things have changed and we should really get going. It appears ShineClan will go to the moor, GazeClan will go to the pine section of the forest, StormClan will be in the oak and spruce part of the forest, and PathClan will be in the more open and water filled section of the forest. Kind of reminds me of the Clans, now that I think about the structure."
"It really does...," Dustflight sighed in sadness. "And you are right, we really should get going."
"I guess this is goodbye for now, Dustflight."
"I guess. We should meet here every moon as a gathering to honor StarClan and as a remembrance of our Clan roots." Dustflight responded
Adderstripe purred while Limethroat and Dawnwing nodded approvingly. "I like that idea," Adderstripe admitted. "Let's do that."
Dustflight dipped his head at Adderstripe, Limethroat, and Dawnwing before he gathered his new Clan and padded away into the forest. He didn't know on what terms they would return to, but he knew that things just had to go well. They came from the same Clans, after all. How hard would peace be to maintain with such a similar history?

The storm will destroy the path, but another storm will help fix one. The shining sun will be helpful and warm, but will soon leave horrible burns. The gaze of the night will be cold, but will be burned in harsh heat and move on.
-Duststar
It didn't take long before a black she-cat with blue eyes woke from her trance and pulled her head out of the starry river that never went away during droughts. Shadedlight knew something bad would happen, and it was a matter of when.
