07 | ❝Apologize to Arjun!❞

ʀ ʀ ɪ ʜ ɴ

"Yeah, they've arrived." I whispered to the man beside me.

"What is their expression?" He questioned back, with deep interest.

"Bro has the same as always while Zivah looks as if she's about to faint." I responded while examining their faces.

"Oh my poor daughter. What has your brother done to my darling daughter?" Mr. Avinash Rai, Zivah's Dad, Bro and my Baba questioned.

"I am also worried Baba. What if he has yelled at Zivah again? She will never agree to our plan." I whispered looking at him worriedly.

"Don't worry kiddo. I'll make both of them agree. You haven't seen Avinash Rai's magic yet." He winked at me making me roll my eyes.

His dramatics will never end.

"Oh my god!" I gasped, my hand covering my mouth involuntarily.

"What happened? Has he shouted at Zivah again?" Baba questioned me, looking all tensed.

I was hanging at the window like a leech, looking at Zivah and Arjun Bro who had just reached Baba's farmhouse and were getting out of his car while Baba was sitting on the couch in the living room, asking me the happening now and then.

"No! Arjun Bro has Mimi in his his arms. They both are cuddling while walking. Well more precisely it looks like Mimi is cuddling while Bro is bearing her." I responded looking at Baba wide eyed.

"Oh my god!" He gasped just like me and I nodded my head with the same expression as his.

Was making Bro and Zivah travel together a good decision?

While Zivah was walking ahead of them to the direction of entrance of farmhouse, Bro was busy adjusting Mimi in his arms. Mimi looked like a mice in his arms seeing how giant Bro is. He could practically crush her under his palm.

He was holding her so delicately like a newborn baby and only one thought crossed my mind at this.

He will be a great father.

I quickly took a picture of his which came out very blur, but I could clearly reminisce the photos I see time to time which are from my childhood. A 7 year old Arjun bro with a month old me in his arm.

That's the best picture I have with my myself and will ever have.

And after such a great time I didn't see any look of annoyance or anger on his face. His face was neutral while he was scolding Mimi for creasing his shirt.

What has this lady-dog duo done to my brother?

"Dad!" Zivah's voice reached my ears and I immediately straightened myself from the window I was leaning on.

Where I had been thinking that she will be super happy to see Baba, here she was busy glaring at him.

The look clearly said 'You Are So Dead' and I immediately knew what it was about.

Our decision to make Zivah and Bro travel together must've been tiresome for her. It was way visible at her expression.

"Will a sorry work?" Baba asked in a small voice, looking at Zivah hopefully and a small chuckle involuntarily left my mouth.

"In no bloody hell." She gritted out making him gulp audibly and this time it was a roar of laughter from me.

"And what are you doing here?" This time, it was directed towards me and I also couldn't help, but to gulp at her scary expression.

"Haww! Can't I visit my Baba? Look how she's behaving Baba." I gasped dramatically, looking at Baba with a bothered look.

"Zivah." Baba warned her like always, taking my side and she glared at me oh so murderously in return while I was busy giving her a mischievous smirk.

Letting out a small huff, she made her way towards the ancient staircase which I am sure she's going to her room and before I could follow her for a dose of gossip, a voice stopped me in between.

"Amara?"

It was Arjun Bro who'd just entered the living room and looked as if he's just seen a ghost.

"H-Hey bro." I waved awkwardly.

"What are you doing here?" He squinted his eyes at me.

"I-"

"Didn't you have your interview today?" He questioned without letting me speak.

"I did. It got over in the morning itself so I decided to stop by Baba's." I pouted and he gave me a squinted look.

"Couldn't you bother informing me?" He asked, looking at me pointedly.

"I was about to. But Baba told me that you were arriving here itself so that's why I decided to surprise you." I battled my eyelashes at him and only after giving me a small glare, he went back to greet baba.

"How are you Baba? Everything is fine right?" He questioned bending down to touch his feet for his blessings and Baba replied to his every question with the biggest of smile and full interest.

I guess Zivah says the correct thing then. She's always complaining about how Baba says Arjun Bro is the perfect son and so on so on. Although the truth is that he loves the three of us equally, no matter Arjun Bro and I aren't even blood related to him. But Zivah being Zivah always grumbles about the same.

The only person I would see Arjun Bro care about except me is Avinash Baba. I don't know any history how they're related or anything, but what I know is he's the only person Bro respects. And the most confusing part to me is that he never talks with the few relatives we have. It was only me who used to visit my cousin's houses in my childhood, but that too eventually slowed down to almost never at this point.

I also haven't tried asking him about anything from the past. It naturally feels to me as if it's a sour topic to him.

"Mimi!" I called out to my baby who was sticking onto bro like a gum.

She let out a small woof acknowledging me and continued her romance with Bro. Turning my head towards him, I gave him a bewildered look and he just sighed in response, tiredly.

I lifted her from Bro's lap, too forcefully while she was clutching onto his shirt and gave her a quick kiss. And the very next second she jumped back to Bro and touched his cheek muttering something in her language. It would only be a fool who wouldn't understand that she was complaining about me.

Her one leg was touching his bearded cheek, tongue out looking at Arjun Bro innocently and he just nodded his head at her while adjusting her in his arms making Baba and I even more shocked than before.

"Amara." Came Arjun Bro's warning voice and Mimi let out a contented woof in return making me scowl.

"You're so getting it Mimi. Zivah was right. You've turned naughty than ever, you defector." I hissed at her, and the very next moment I had found my interest in my mobile, sitting beside Arjun Bro while he was busy in a conversation with Baba.

******

"Yeah, yeah. I am telling. Just sit yourselves down." Baba said motioning Zivah and Bro to sit on the couch while Baba and I were already having our gala time by playing cards.

After the lunch which was prepared by our sweetest Zivah, Bro had an important call from which he just returned and Zivah was busy with Mimi. More like scolding her as she wasn't leaving Bro alone even when he was on a call.

The look of irritation and annoyance on Bro's face was hilarious.

Probably this was the first time he'd control his anger on someone. And that someone had to be the traitor, Mimi.

"Dad, it's already been 3 hours since we've arrived. You have to tell us the oh so important thing because I need to go back to Delhi." Zivah voiced out, sitting on the loveseat, alone.

"What do you have to do in Delhi now that you're not working for Arjun anymore?" Baba questioned making my eyes go wide.

Zivah has left the company? Why so sudden?

"Uhh- Y-You k-know?" She stuttered badly and I didn't miss the chance when she'd given a secret glare to Bro, making me chuckle inwardly.

"Of course I know! When were you exactly planning to tell me this? And what about your behaviour with Arjun?" Baba questioned her with a serious look which is so unlike him. He is always a joyful and witty person.

"Never?" Zivah questioned adorably, but at this moment he didn't find it anywhere cute.

He was serious like anything at this point.

"Zivah!" He gritted out making Zivah and I gulp. Arjun Bro, like always had a blank look.

"Sorry." She said, with this apologetic face and Baba sighed in response.

"Don't say sorry to me. Apologize to Arjun!" Baba said in a stern voice.

"B-But-" Zivah looked bewildered.

"It's not needed Baba." Arjun Bro butted in, looking at Zivah with a new emotion I couldn't decipher.

"If you say so." Baba nodded his head and gave Zivah a look of disbelief who was grinning like a Cheshire cat.

"So, as you know you have to take over the company anytime soon, there is a clause in it." He continued looking at Zivah with a serious expression.

"What clause?" Zivah questioned back with the same expression.

Everyone present here, except me was serious while I had the thought of eating Chocolate Cake for the dessert in my mind.

"You have to be married." And as soon as these words came out of Baba's mouth, Zivah started laughing uncontrollably.

She sounded like a hyena.

"Who are you joking to Dad? You think I don't know about everything related to the company? Guess what, I have already had a meeting with the lawyer and the only thing I need to take over the company is sign the papers. Nothing else." She said, still chuckling lightly.

And at this new revelation, my heart just sunk down.

Baba looked at me in bewilderment and I gave him the same expression in return.

Well guess what?

Zivah came out even smarter than us.

"Ha-ha-ha...." Baba let out a laugh which was clearly fake.

He looked at me pleadingly while my mind straightaway ran to various thoughts and ideas.

I then coughed.

At this everyone's head snapped towards me while Bro had this panicked look on his face.

You don't need to worry bro.

Baba's head went back, looking into distance.

I coughed even louder at this.

And that's when Baba gave me a small smirk making me smirk back.

"Z-Zivah, I d-don't know h-how to say this." Baba hesitated to speak at which Zivah and Bro gave him a worried look at the sudden change in the atmosphere while it was so hard for me control my laugh.

"What is it Dad?" Zivah questioned softly, taking Baba's hand in hers.

"M-My health, that can't be trusted. You know what happens with me and the only thought that runs in my mind because of this is about my three kids." He continued, his eyes now glistened with fresh tears.

"Dad, you only have diabetes-"

And he didn't let her complete.

"I feel so worried about the fact that my son has crossed the age of 30 and still doesn't has a girlfriend, let the married part be." Baba said, looking all sad.

Arjun Bro looked at him with wide eyes while Zivah snickered from other side making it way visible how she find this sentence of his funny.

And unlike her, I didn't control my laughter. A roar of laughter erupted from my mouth, giving Baba a high-five while Bro glared me in a deadly manner.

"Baba!" Arjun Bro butted in with a look of disbelief.

"Don't Baba me. It's true. Do you even know how hard and sad it is for me to know that my eldest child isn't married and is not giving me the pleasure to see my grandchildren." He shook his head, looking all sad.

"Baba, what are you trying to say exactly?" Arjun Bro asked, with raised eyebrows, and this time his expression was full of seriousness.

"Well, my health can never be trusted and thinking about my children only makes me feel worried. So, I guess you both have to do something. By both, I mean Arjun and Zivah because Amara is still my kiddo unlike you two oldies." He replied looking at Bro and Zivah.

Zivah hadn't uttered a word till now. She was frozen at the spot and it was clear how confused she was at this point.

"And what is that something?" Zivah finally questioned.

"I think it'll be a great option if Zivah marries Arjun." And as soon as these words came out of Baba's mouth, Zivah flew up from the couch she was sitting on looking all bewildered while Arjun Bro had covered his face with his palm, not letting me see his reaction.

"What the hell? What are you even talking about Dad? How is this related to your health?" Zivah hissed pacing in the living room.

"Because knowing the fact that my daughter is settled with the only man I trust is enough for a father Zivah. You have no idea what thoughts run in my mind when I think about how you're going to survive alone if I'll be gone in the near future." Baba said making me suddenly alarmed at the tension that was building up inside this room.

"Dad, that's not a solution okay. It's about my whole life. I cannot get married to literally anybody." Zivah said, raising her hands dramatically.

"Literally anybody? Arjun is the most responsible individual amongst you three. And I won't hesitate saying that he's the one who is mature, a lot more than you and someone who I know will take care of you between you three." He said, putting up his point.

"I can't believe this. You've gone insane Dad. This diabetes has done something bad to you." Saying this Zivah stormed out of the entrance, I know directly to the massive garden this farmhouse has in the back.

"Baba...."

"Before you say anything Arjun, let me explain myself. And after this you can say whatever you want." Baba cut him off right there and Arjun Bro could only nod his head in response.

******
