For the Princess (Monsta X)

The icy northern winds blew through the cobble stone streets, the leaves rushing around to keep up with the cold. People that walked the streets held onto their hats and pulled their jackets closed tightly around them. Children stood, huddled close to their mothers to keep warm while they looked at the fruit stands. The skies were gray and gloomy, promising the chance of rain or even a possibility of snow making the people move quicker through the streets to get to where they were going.

One young male was stepping out of a bakery and back into the icy cold breeze. His clothes were brown and raggedy, thin fabric that did nothing to keep the chill out. An old thin shawl wrapped around his shoulders brought some warmth to his ever shivering frame. In one hand, he carried a basket filled with the fresh vegetables, in the other he held a thin white paper bag that was filled with a single treat he had just bought. If not for the young child that gave him the silver dollar earlier, he may not have been able to eat that afternoon.

Walking through the streets, Minhyuk found a seat on the steps of someone's home. The house obviously empty at the moment, windows dark from the lack of lighting within. He set the basket beside him and the paper bag on his lap. He quickly reached into the bag and pulled out a warm, freshly baked bread roll, the warmth radiating from the bread warming his hands ever so slightly. He licked his lips and brought the steaming roll to his mouth, only to stop before he could even take a single bite.

Down the street, not far from where he sat, was a young man and three young children. All of them looked cold, dirty and just as hungry as he was. The oldest one of the four, the father more than likely, reminded him very much of a hamster. He held an infant in his arms while trying to get the attention of passerby's. The two older girls, one was holding a basket just like his own, only it was filled with flowers. The other stared at him, or more his roll, while her sister asked those who passed by if they wanted to buy a flower. Minhyuk's gaze never wavered from the young girls, a sense of guilt rising in him for wanting to eat the roll.

Minhyuk was about to try for another bite, but that guilt he was feeling overwhelmed him within an instant. Putting the roll down from his lips, he gathered up his basket and walked over to the small family of four that was trying to make enough money to feed themselves.

Standing before the younger daughter, Minhyuk gave a gentle smile and held out the roll.

"Here, you have it."

As Minhyuk spoke gently, the girl looked towards her father with a curious look. Probably making sure it was alright with him if she took the food. With a prompted nod from her father, the girl smiled brightly and turned, taking the bread roll from him. Without waiting for a thanks, Minhyuk turned and started walking away, heading back towards the house hew as currently serving as a servant to.

"Wait!"

Stopping, Minhyuk turned around to the oldest daughter running over to him. All the while, she tried not to spill the flowers that rested within her basket.

As she approached, the girl stopped in front of Minhyuk and smiled up at him. She grabbed a flower from her basket and held it up to him. From behind the girl, her father called out to Minhyuk with his own gentle smile.

"For the princess."

Watching as the man gave a bow of his head, Minhyuk couldn't help but feel shocked and honored of such a title. His attention slowly turned back to the girl, taking the flower from and receiving a curtsy from her as well. She ran off back to her family leaving Minhyuk to watch her. A small smile crept onto his lips as he once more turned around, flower in hand, and started back towards his original destination of home. Though it wasn't much of a home, that's exactly what he called it. . .home.
